5 II. System and phases of Training, for NATO KFOR The Individual Readiness Training (IRT) II.1. Phases of Training: a) prior to deployment into AOR - IRT, NST, BST, KLT b) in the AOR prior to COC - ITT, RST c) after COC - StaffEx, MapEx

Training Objectives: focus on - achieving a high degree of proficiency in basic staff procedures, - enhancing the special skills of HQ leadership and staff to operate in the PSO / Kosovo-FYROM environment, - ensuring competence in performing NATO and KFOR-specific procedures, and - improving the knowledge of HQ Command and Staff in theatrespecific issues of concern.

In-Theatre Training (ITT) = in-processing at HQ Rear, enroute to the final deployment location = two day program of training events Subject Areas: - History of the region, the conflict, and Kosovo geography - Kosovo/FYROM Threat Assessment, current situation - ROEs, MTA, Directives, Relevant Resolutions - Joint Implementation Commission - Political and Media situation, CIMIC - Mine Awareness Training - KFOR Current Operations - MNB Operations, Logistical Operations - Training and Exercises

Right-Seat Training (RST) = at the final location of deployment = with HQ Staff outgoing counterpart = for assuming assigned position by working alongside c.p. = will be conducted for 2-10 days = the outgoing c.p. may be released for redeployment only when the replacement has been adequately prepared.
