Ltd. Budapest has recently prepared its EU strategy with the aim to help to achieve EU 2020 goals with coordinated actions and to enhance the effective and efficient use of EU support. A main element of Europe 2020 and the strategy itself is inclusive growth to ensure among other objectives economic, social and territorial cohesion. Among other activities and projects the City has been working on inclusion of Roma population in the frame of the URBACT II Roma-Net project and a Local Action Plan has been produced. The seminar will present the EU strategy of the City and the Local Action Plan. Representatives from the city s universities, voluntary and community sector, local authorities, local government, of Budapest and other Hungarian towns. 3

This local event will be closely related to one of our consortium s topics entitled: Regional Strategies and Inter-regional cooperation in the West Balkan region. The event will showcase the possible advantages and benefits of the different aspects of the Strategy, accepted during the Hungarian EU Presidency. Our event aims to raise awareness of the available possibilities by this action plan for boosting the development in the region. As the Central Hungarian Region is located at the Hungarian-Slovakian border and has many living cross border relations, this aspect of cooperation plays a particularly important role there. Our local events will be aimed at local elected politicians, practitioners from local authorities, nongovernmental organisations, local entrepreneurs but also university students and active local people interested in public affairs. Local government representatives, local authorities, non-governmental organisations, local entrepreneurs, representatives of the AVCC university, local people interested in public affairs. 4

The single speakers represent various institutions (public or private) that have practices in the region that were considered as good practice in the framework of the ICER project (INTERREG IVC) where South Transdanubian Regional Development Agency participated as project partner. Besides highlighting good practices the event also gives an outline on the recommendation handbook s main findings on tourism infrastructure development policy. Target groups are decision makers in tourism, SME and environmental development policy. Other target groups are development and EU policy professionals, opinion leaders and SMEs being potential developers of tourism infrastructure. 16 CBC HU/RO Hungary - Romania "Scientific and Entrepreneurial Picnic in Szeged" Szeged 21 September 2012 Organisers: Hungary-Romania Cross-Border Co-operation Programme SCIENTSTU project financed in the frame of the Hungary-Romania Cross-border Co-operation Programme is organising a cross-border dissemination event entitled "Scientific and Entrepreneurial picnic" in Szeged on 21 September The event will be organised outdoor in order to reach a large number of people and students from both sides of the border, inviting them to find out more about scientific challenges and achievements in the cross-border region. During the Picnic project partners will demonstrate chemistry and photonics experiments, meanwhile participants will have the opportunity to try out "magical" experiments as well. In addition, an Innovative- IT corner" will be set up, where talented IT experts and innovators will present ICT tools and applications during a series of discussions related to the development of new businesses ideas in the cross-border area between Hungary and Romania. Of course, all of these activities will be combined with a real picnic, livened by the performances of music bands from the border area. The involvement of local media will make the event arrive to a broader audience than the stakeholders and project partners,aiming to bring the Hungary-Romania Cross-Border Cooperation Programme results to the attention of local communities. 17 Transnational Programme South East Europe "Boat on the Danube to promote Territorial Cooperation" Budapest 21 September 2012 Organisers: South East Europe Transnational Cooperation Programme A boat on the Danube River in Budapest is to be rented to hold in the boat a symbolic event focused on European Territorial Cooperation (ETC) and the South East Europe Programme (SEE). This event will be open to general public, joining at the same time the recreational aspect to the informative one, and it will include an exhibition of Danube-related SEE projects and a press conference addressed to local media. The idea of renting a boat in the Danube River comes from the fact that Danube is one of the best symbols of the SEE programme as an example of something uniting countries across the borders in one of the most diverse and complex transnational areas of the EU. Moreover, the European Commission has launched the Danube Strategy ( as an opportunity to boost the development of the Danube Region. On the other hand, the involvement of media will make the event arrive to a broader audience than the stakeholders and project partners, trying in this way to make aware to citizens of Territorial Cooperation in general and the South East Europe Programme in particular. People on the street (Budapest citizens and tourists), Local, regional and national media (to reach out to a broader public), Local authorities, Programme stakeholders, SEE Danube-related projects representatives. 17
18 CBC HU/SK Hungary Slovak Republic "Classical music concert in the Aggtelek Cave" Aggtelek 21 September 2012 Organisers: Cross-Border Co-operation Programme Hungary- Slovak Republic The Aggtelek National Park is an area rich in unique natural and cultural assets. One of the most endearing treasures of the park is the Baradla Cave, which is the biggest and the most magnificent cave in Hungary, and also reaches over the Slovak border. The cave offers the unique experience of philharmonic and chamber music in its enormous concert hall for over 700 guests at a time. This hall is the place where the Hungary- Slovakia Cross-border Cooperation Programme within the frames of the European Cooperation Day is organizing its classical music concert. Slovak and Hungarian composers philharmonic work will be performed by the Hungarian Symphony Orchestra. Before the concert we kindly invite our guests for a guided tour in the Cave (starts at 15.45). After a short reception the concert starts at 6 pm on 21st September Open for everyone. 18
19 ENPI CBC Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine "Introducing Traditional Crafts in frame of a Slovak-Hungarian-Ukrainian cross-border cooperation" Sátoraljaújhely 14 September 2012 Organisers: Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine ENPI Cross-border Cooperation Programme The Hungarian-Slovak Bilingual Minority Primary School and Boarding School (Magyar-Szlovák Két Tanítási Nyelvű Nemzetiségi Általános Iskola és Kollégium) is going to organise an event "Introducing Traditional Crafts" in the frame of project titled Friendship - connect the nations HUSKROUA/1001/149 financed from the ENPI CBC Programme Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine pupils from Slovakia, Hungary and Ukraine take part Introducing Traditional Crafts activity that is the third event in project titled above. The event will take place at the partner school in Sátoraljaújhely, Hungary. The second day (14 September 2012) is opened to the public when participants can meet the local craftsmen and their products: Cooking activity: making plum jam in the copper pot, baking bread in the traditional oven built outside Workshop activity: painting bottles, working with leather, cutting wood After lunch planting a memorable tree together. Sport event Presentations of each other s school, folk dance performance of the local folk dance groups, slide show on previous activities (Non-traditional sports, Bicycle Camp). Products (wood art, leather products, glass paintings) made by pupils will be exhibited on the following day, 15 September Students, children, families. 19

We go there with our publications and awareness raising materials focused on our ENPI composting programme (Waste reduction by composting - popularizing composting in Transcarpathia and Szabolcs-Szatmar-Bereg county), to increase interest in environment protection and to introduce our activity based on international cooperation and ENPI programme, as well. 700 primary school student, 400 high school student and their teachers. 20
