1 Associate Member Showcase Highlighting this Month Hamann AG Cruise Line Member News Carnival Promotes Buck to Vice President Role Gordon Buck, a 27-year veteran of Carnival Cruise Lines, has been promoted from director to vice president, port operations. Buck is responsible for serving as liaison with port agents and various government agencies, as well as overseeing port planning and logistics. Costa has Positive Start in 2005; Atlantica Aces USPH 2005 has started brightly for Costa Cruise Lines N.V., they reported record booking levels and set three new sales records in January: the highest number of individual passenger bookings on one day (January 31); the highest number of confirmed total passengers (total berths) in a week; and the highest number of confirmed total passengers (total berths) in a month. Costa Atlantica earned a perfect score of 100 on its semi-annual, unannounced U.S. Public Health inspection by officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. New Disney Ship on the Drawing Board Disney Cruise Line is expected to play an increasingly important role at the Walt Disney Company, by including a third cruise ship to add to the Disney fleet. Disney has completed the designs for the new ship, but since most large cruise ships are built in Europe, and with the dollar s weakness against the euro, Walt Disney World president Al Weiss feels that this is not the best time to be buying a ship. Zaandam, Prinsendam Complete Upgrades Holland America Line s Zaandam began its winter Caribbean sailings from Port Canaveral featuring all of the company s $225 million Signature of Excellence enhancements. These include a new Culinary Arts Center, Greenhouse spa and more. The Prisendam also recently completed it Signature of Excellence upgrade, adding the Culinary Arts Center, flat panel TVs, as well as many other amenities. A Wave of Changes at NCL; New Ships Making Progress Norwegian Cruise Line is making a number of high-level additions and realignments in its fleet operations department. The first of which is industry veteran Manfred Ursprunger, who will take over as senior vice president, hotel operations. Veteran NCL employee Arturo Guerrero will gain new responsibility in the hotel department as vice president, new build delivery, and will report to Ursprunger. Colin Murphy, vice president, land and air services, will assume the newly created position of vice president, on-board and land revenue. Additionally, Suzanne Cockburn gains responsibility for air services and the new title of vice president, passenger services. Other changes at NCL include Joe Assante, formerly vice president, cruise operations for the New York City Economic Development Corp., who will join NCL in the new role of vice president, port operations, and Trevor Young will assume the new position of vice president, hotel newbuild and refurbishment. The Pride of America has left the drydock at Lloyd Werft and is now alongside the outfitting pier at the Bremerhaven yard. Sea trials are

2 scheduled for May 19 - May 22 and NCL America is due to take delivery of the ship on June 6. In addition, the Pride of Hawai i s assembly began this month at Meyer Werft s covered building dock in Papenburg, Germany. It is the second of three new ships Meyer Werft is building for Norwegian Cruise line. Princess First Ship Dedicated to UK Princess Cruises will introduce Sea Princess this summer, its first ship dedicated to the UK cruising market. The 1,950 passenger ship is currently sailing for P&O Cruises as Adonia. RSSC Adds Fleetwide Enhancements Radisson Seven Seas Cruises is rolling out changes in areas from dining to entertainment, suite amenities to on-board boutiques. The line has partnered with Sixth Star Entertainment of Fort Lauderdale for fleetwide entertainment programming, Chicago-based Park West as its new art auction concessionaire and Evoke of Miami as its new boutique concessionaire, just to name a few. Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises Appoint Goldstein, Hanrahan Brand Presidents Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. appointed Adam Goldstein president of Royal Caribbean International, and Dan Hanrahan president of Celebrity Cruises last month. Both positions report to Jack Williams, president and chief operations officer of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. As senior executives of the brands, Goldstein and Hanrahan will be responsible for fleet operations, sales and marketing, and brand development while retaining many of their former responsibilities. Windstar Names Manager, Marine Hotel Operations Windstar Cruises appointed Gerald Moesslinger as manager, marine hotel operations. He will oversee the hiring and training of key marine hotel staff and all aspects of the on-board guest experience. Associate Member News Hydrox Bio 68 Selected for Carnival Victory Carnival Cruise Lines selected Benjn. R. Vickers biodegradable sterntube lubricant Hydrox Bio 68 for use in its ship Carnival Victory. In addition, the Victory also signed up for VCMS, a unique service offered by Vickers in conjunction with Lloyd s Register that provides ongoing monitoring and reporting on the condition of sterntubes in order to help prevent unscheduled and costly maintenance. Massachusetts Ports Target Cruise The new Historic Ports of Massachusetts marketing initiative seeks to make New Bedford, Fall River, Salem, Gloucester and Boston top of mind with cruise itinerary planners. Greg Ketchen, a 30-year Coast Guard veteran who is spearheading the historic ports initiative, hopes that the wealth of existing shore excursion opportunities and those yet to be developed will attract various cruise lines to the area. MTN Puts finishing Touches on Paul Gauguin; MTN to Deliver Same-Day Newspapers to Cruises Maritime Telecommunications Network (MTN), of Miramar, Florida, a leading provider of satellite-based communications, networking and other services to the cruise and various other industries, announced this month that it would provide remote satellite telephone capabilities for the elite Radisson Seven Seas Cruises ship, the Paul Gauguin. MTN will equip the vessel with Wireless Fidelity Internet capabilities, Internet and access in the ship s 24-hour Internet Café and much more. MTN has teamed up with NewspaperDirect to deliver same-day newspapers to hips on Radisson Seven Seas Cruises ships. Cruise ship passengers will be able to get USA Today, Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, Frankfurter, Allgemeine Zeitung, Le Monde, The Times of India and La Stampa. 2

3 Port Everglades Possible Site for Security Training Port Everglades could soon become a center for training in security for ships and seaports. The Maritime Security Institute, a nonprofit based in Fort Lauderdale, is discussing the possibility of using Port Everglades facilities to train at least 400 mostly Central & South American port facility professionals, mainly offering short courses that last less than a week. The training comes as ports and ships seek to comply with new U.S. and international rules that have been established to boost security against terrorism and other threats. Cruise 101 at 2005 Seatrade Cruise Shipping Convention On March 14, the ICCL will be hosting a Cruise 101 for members of the press attending this year s Seatrade Cruise Shipping Convention in Miami. This informative seminar will highlight the current hot topics of cruise ship accessibility and the pending Supreme Court decision, as well as security and how the new measures have affected the travel industry. Government officials, academic and industry experts, and senior cruise line executives are expected to serve as panelists. Upcoming Meeting for the Vessel Sanitation Program The Center for Disease Control and Prevention s Vessel Sanitation Program will hold its annual meeting in Ft. Lauderdale on April 26. The ICCL, cruise industry representatives and private sanitation consultants will be in attendance to review the program with the CDC, as well as discuss the revised operations manual and construction guidelines and norovirus on cruise ships. Industry and Political Leaders Convene in New Orleans The ICCL and The Port of New Orleans cohosted a reception and luncheon on February 17 in conjunction with the American Association of Port Authorities Conference. Industry, local business and political leaders, as well as members of the media were present. The event, which took place on board the Carnival Sensation, included remarks from ICCL President Michael Crye and Port of New Orleans President and CEO Gary LaGrange. In addition, the ICCL, through its charitable foundation, presented two checks for $10,000
