3 Welcome! Children sign-up in Scouts for outdoor adventure and fun. Thanks for ensuring your Scouts get that opportunity at camp this year! First Thing s First: Online Registration Where to sign up: stlbsa.org Learn more and sign up for all of our summer camp activities at stlbsa.org. Start by going to Activities/Events Click Summer Camp Click the image of the two Cub Scouts, which takes you to the Cub Scout Camping page. Here you can see the different opportunities your Scouts have this summer. Choose the camp type you wish to attend and click Register If you have questions while going through the registration process, reach out to the program department at or camping@stlbsa.org where we are ready to help walk you through the process or answer any questions. Adult supervision at camp For all Scouting events, including summer camp, there must be two adults acting as the adult supervision for the Scouts in your Pack or Den. If your unit does not have two adults at camp (which happens often if only one or two Scouts from the den attend a camp session together), the camp office will pair your unit with another small unit so that there are always multiple adults on campsites and while in program areas with the scouts. There is no maximum number of adults, but there is a minimum of at least one adult for up to every four Scouts. If there are adults sharing the leadership by being at camp for parts of the session, they are welcome to switch in and out, as needed, ensuring proper supervision for your Scouts. If you have extra adults at meal times, they will need to pay $6 for a guest meal. If your Scout or your Den is not able to have any adults attend with the Scouts, there is an option to attend with paid camp staff leadership. There is a Cub Scout Youth, Provisional option at registration. This is a higher fee option because this pays for the adult leader s time and meals. Den Chiefs: if your den has a den chief, s/he is welcome to attend camp as a den chief, (in addition to the adults attending camp), paying the same fee as an adult. Parent Portal This is an optional tool for your Pack that allows one parent or leader to sign up the whole group of Scouts, giving that person log-ins for parents to go in and pay for their Scouts, individually. You will see this while registering. If you have questions, please reach out to the program department at , or camping@stlbsa.org. Camperships Also known as financial assistance, camperships are available for families in need as a tool to ensure more Scouts can attend camp. Please find the application on our Summer Camp webpage, cubcamping.stlbsa.org Camp May 3

4 What To Do Before Camp Every youth and adult camper should complete Parts A and B of the BSA Annual Health and Medical Record. If anyone has food allergies, please complete the food allergy form (found on the camp registration page) and it to camping@stlbsa.org at least three weeks prior to the camp session s/he is attending. Please ensure all fees are paid at least one week prior to camp. Every camper, youth and adult, should pack these items for a comfortable time at camp: Duffel bag or backpack Day pack Water bottles (1-2) Sleeping bag or sheets & blankets Pillow Sturdy walking shoes or boots (waterproof recommended) Sandals (closed-toe recommended for creek activities) Raincoat or poncho Sweatshirt or jacket Scout uniform (if Scout has one) Swimsuits (2-3) T-shirts (4) Shorts (4) Underwear (4) Socks (4) Extra pair of clothes to get dirty in mud cave (1) Pajamas or other sleeping attire (1) Towels Washcloth Toothbrush & paste Shampoo/conditioner Soap Hairbrush or comb Sunscreen Insect repellent (non-aerosol) Personal first aid kit Grocery or Ziploc bags for wet or dirty clothes Flashlight & batteries Wristwatch Camp stool/chair Camera Spending money (we recommend $30) Please note that pets, fireworks, alcohol, sheath knives, nonprescription drugs, and personal firearms are not allowed in camp. We also do not recommend bringing any items of value and unsecured food that may attract animals. Adults may also want to bring charcoal for campsite cooking, s mores supplies, a cooler to keep snacks, fire starters, and additional recreational equipment like frisbees, whiffle ball, etc. If parents want to have Scouts receive mail at camp, please mail it early so that it arrives when the Scouts are in camp, or have the adult or unit leader bring it with them to camp to load into the mailbox. The address is: Scout Name Scout Campsite 6480 Beaumont Scout Reservation Dr. High Ridge, MO If your group can take advantage of pre-camp swim tests, you can skip the test at camp. Contact the program department for details at camping@stlbsa.org. 4 Camp May

5 When You Arrive At Camp And Check In Check-in at the Camp Office is 1:30 3 p.m. We recommend that, if able, you check in by 3 p.m. to ensure you have time for campsite check in, swim tests, and camp tours before dinner. Where and how to check in: The Camp Office is in the Emerson Center, just past the lobby. When you check in at the office, you will be shown all paid fees and any remaining balances. If you have a remaining balance, please be prepared to pay it at check-in with credit, check, or cash. At check in, you will receive a meal ticket where you will list how many adults and youth are in camp so that we know how many seats you will need at meals. You will give the completed card to your Pack Counselor on your campsite. Checking In at the Campsite Checking in on your campsite begins as soon as your group is all there. There will be two camp staff present to go through a brief medical check with all adults and youth staying at camp. Please have your medical forms out and ready. Swim Tests, Dining Hall Orientation, and Tour of Camp After everyone has done his/her medical recheck, the camp staff will take you on a tour of camp pointing out program areas, stopping at the dining hall for orientation, and going to the pool for swim tests. Please ensure your group is wearing swimsuits, sunscreen, and has their towels ready. Scouts and adults with dietary restrictions should visit with the Food Service Manager at the end of the dining hall orientation, or before the first meal in camp, to ensure their dietary needs are met. Swim tests are: Non-swimmer: get in the water splash around and cool off (this is optional). Beginners: swim 50 feet, including one sharp turn and submerging completely underwater. Swimmers: swim 75 yards, unbroken, with a strong forward stroke, swim 25 yards in a resting backstroke, and then float in the water for several seconds. Based on the swim test youth and adults complete, they can swim in deeper water throughout the camp session. If your group can take advantage of pre-camp swim tests, they can skip the test at camp during check in. Contact the program department for details at camping@stlbsa.org. Camp May 5
