2 Admiralty Point Condominium Association 2300 Gulf Shore Blvd. North Naples, FL Owner Hurricane Preparedness Plan June 1, 2015 To: All Owners Re: Hurricane Preparedness Plan Introduction The 2014 hurricane season begins June 1 and runs through November 30. Now is the time for Owners to give considerable attention as to preparation for a storm. Management and Staff have a detailed checklist of assigned duties that will be completed at the appropriate time. Owners should also have a plan in place so they are prepared to act as a storm approaches. Advanced planning reduces confusion and panic when Hurricane Watches and Warnings are issued. Hurricane Watches are usually issued 36 to 48 hours in advance of hurricane conditions while Warnings are usually issued 24 hours in advance. This leaves only enough time to execute a plan. Please understand, even in a mild Category 1 storm (75 to 94 mile per hour winds) with an oncoming 4 to 6 foot storm surge and high tide would present a significant issue for Gulf Shore Blvd. All means of evacuation could be under water and unfortunately; most deaths from storms come after the storm passes for a variety of reasons. Pre-Storm Preparation Owners should consider an evacuation plan. Include a primary and alternate evacuation route. All Owners are encouraged to leave as early as possible. Owners should know where the local evacuation sites are and if they plan to use them. If an Owner has special needs, they are encouraged to pre-register with a special needs shelter. The Collier County website has shelter information as well as other useful preparation tips. For shelter information you can also call the Collier County Emergency Hotline If an Owner will not be staying at a shelter or with family and friends, they should have a line up of hotel phone numbers locally and along their evacuation route. In addition to securing shelter, Owners should purchase supplies far in advance. For example, drinking water is very important. At minimum, Owners should assume 1 gallon per day per person with a 3 to 4 day supply. Also important is a supply of prescription drugs. Experts recommend a minimum 14 day supply. A more complete list is provided below.

3 Owners should fill up vehicles as soon as possible, obtain cash while ATM s are functioning and establish a folder for critical documents in the event an evacuation is ordered. The folder might include, passports, birth certificates, insurance policies, wills, deeds and contact lists. Secure this folder in a waterproof bag for quick collection and easy transport. Typical services on the property may be interrupted. For example, elevators will be parked on higher floors and shut down once a Hurricane Warning has been issued for the area. Water pumps, some electrical services and cooking grills may be shut down in advance of a storm. Notices and updates will be given to Owner s as far in advance as possible. Management to Owner communication will be ongoing throughout any hurricane preparation efforts. The primary means of communication with Owner s during preparations will be . Owners without will be contacted in person or by phone. Management can offer to assist getting families to relocate higher in the buildings or out of Admiralty Point altogether while emphasizing the advantages of leaving the area. The buildings have a multitude of glass windows which would be subject to flying debris. If flying object break a window, the hurricane winds could take out interior stud walls and cause significant damage and injury. Management and Staff will inspect the exterior of all buildings to ensure all openings have been secured. This includes closing any open hurricane shutters. All Owners are expected to secure their units by closing shutters, windows, doors and all interior doors before leaving. Owners are required to remove any loose items from their lanais and balconies. If necessary, any item not secured will be removed by Admiralty Point Staff and the cost for this work will be charged back to the individual Owner. If there are any residents on-site, they will be asked to seek shelter in floors well off the first floor or in their own units if appropriate. Again, all Owners are strongly encouraged to evacuate as the living conditions can be difficult in the aftermath of a storm. PLEASE NOTE that Admiralty Point Management and Staff will not stay on property during a storm event. All relevant Staff will report back to the property at the earliest opportunity but Owners cannot rely on assistance once an evacuation order has been given and notice of this evacuation may not be possible. Post Storm Issues The General Manager will coordinate all clean up and communication efforts. If the General Manager is not on site or delayed, an on-site Association Director will lead the effort. All Staff members are required to report to work as soon as possible and once the security of their family and personal residences have been addressed. Owners who wish to return to the property are encouraged to check on current conditions prior to returning. If an Owner has a local home watch service, that service may need a letter from the Owner explaining their relationship and why it is important for them to be granted access. This letter is intended to facilitate any local authority access restriction that might be in place following a storm. If there is a power outage, on-site communications will be by battery powered two-way radios. and phone service may not be available until generators can be activated and equipment plugged in. Critical services such as elevators and water pumps will be restored as soon as possible. All units will be inspected to ensure the exterior of the buildings have not been compromised. Staff will not be expected to check for wet carpet or unit equipment

4 operations. All roof tops will be inspected to identify roof and HVAC damage. Association amenities such as pools and tennis courts will be the last to come on line. However, grills will be inspected for leaks and returned to service as soon as possible. Management will all Owners on the list with updates and post notices on the website. The bulletin boards will be updated frequently with status reports of the cleanup and repair efforts. Conclusion The decision to prepare Admiralty Point for a storm will be made by the President of the Association and General Manager. The General Manager will then implement and oversee the Operational Plan seeing that each task is carried out by the appropriate personnel. The decision to prepare individual units is with each Owner. This plan does not encompass all the necessary preparations an Owner should take but is provided to aid in that effort. For additional information and resources Owners can search the internet, contact local authorities and communicate with other Owners to formulate a plan that works best for them.

5 Suggested Hurricane Preparation Plan For Unit Owners I. PREPARATION CHECKLIST: Plan for an early Evacuation - determine evacuation route. Freeze water ahead & put in plastic bags to put in coolers and refrigerator. Store three days of drinking water (at least 1 gallon per person per day). Assemble in waterproof bags: Insurance documents and possible interior replacement documents, birth certificates, passports, bills, Take digital photos or video of all interior spaces. Locate and secure interior video tape. Have at least $1,000 cash on hand. Fill, and keep filled, car gas tank. Purchase needed items on remainder of plan. Start piling needed supplies for evacuation in one place. Move lanai items inside, furniture into living room and bedroom. Close all interior doors. Turn off electricity and water Before leaving, discard all perishables in refrigerator and pantry. Cover furniture with plastic tarps. Lock sliding glass doors on lanai and into living room. Place towels on floor at base of outer sliders. Lock stationary front door at top and bottom. Call out of town relatives to let them know your cell phone # and where you are going. Put everything on tables, counters, standing into cabinets and closets. Back up important computer files onto external storage and take it with you. II.
