5 Family Day Helping to Transfer the Learning Back Home: As a parent you have made a great investment by sending your child to HoneyRock this summer. You are invited to participate in Family Day as a way to maximize your investment. You will learn hands on what happened in your child s life this summer as you experience life at HoneyRock for the day. Camp is a powerful and transformational event partly because it happens outside of the home environment and permanent system. However, campers need help transferring those lessons back home. Parents and caregivers are the primary transfer agents for the campers. You get to participate in helping your child figure out how to bring the learning and life change from the temporary community back home (the "permanent" community.) Coming to Family Day will help you experience what has happened in the life of your child. Attending Family Day: There is no charge for participation in Family Day. If you are planning to attend, please register on our website (see below.) Parents and families are invited to arrive at 1:30 pm on the last Friday of Intro camp. The cabins have a special closing ceremony that night when they bring their session to a close with a final group time. Therefore, it is our expectation that your child remain at camp until the morning after Family Day. Plan to enjoy the outdoors and activities with your camper by dressing casually. For everyone s safety, please do NOT bring your dog/pet to Family Day. HoneyRock is a place apart, so we ask people not to use cell phones in the main areas of camp. While we understand that your work may require you to be accessible by cell phone, please take advantage of this opportunity to unplug and fully engage in the HoneyRock experience. To Register for Family Day: Please register online from the Home Page. It is important to register each person attending so we can prepare for your arrival. For more information on Family Day please select the Family Day link from our Home Page. Family Days Dates Intro Camp Friday June 22, Day Res Camp 1, Advance Camp 1, Thursday July 5, 2018 Voyageur 1 Day Camp Friday July 13, Day Res Camp 2, 2:22, Venture, Thursday July 19, 2018 Voyageur 2 12 Day Res Camp 3, Advance Camp 2 Thursday August 2, 2018 Service Team, Assistant Counselors Friday August 3, 2018 Enjoy a taste of your camper s HoneyRock experience by participating in or observing activities, meeting his/her counselors, picnicking together and more. Following the closing ceremonies, parents will say goodnight to their campers until morning. Upon arrival, you will be directed to the check-in area where you will receive a Family Day schedule and sign up for one-on-ones. One-onones provide opportunity to meet with your child s counselors to ask questions and hear about his/her growth while at camp. Pick Up: Parents (or other pre-authorized persons) pick up their campers the next morning. Please do not expect to take your camper home at the conclusion of Family Day. The last evening includes valuable closing cabin activities for your children. 7:45 am Collect luggage at blue and white tent next to parking lot. 8:00 am Meet your camper on Chrouser lawn. If someone other than parent/guardian will pick up camper, please complete Transportation Authorization form found on the Home Page under Transportation. Mail or to Registration to arrive at least 3 days before Family Day. Lodging: Hotels fill quickly during the summer, so we recommend making your reservations early. HoneyRock has very limited accommodations available with a two night minimum stay. Inquire by calling our Receptionist ( x201) for information and housing availability at HoneyRock during Family Day weekends. Please contact our local Chambers of Commerce below for hotel and campground information: Eagle River Chamber of Commerce (715) or (800) Three Lakes Information Bureau (715) Rhinelander Chamber of Commerce (715) St. Germain Chamber of Commerce (715) Please refer to the Information Packet maps for driving directions to HoneyRock.
