3 Summer Day Camps Let us energize, ExCiTe, ExErCiSe, and EnTeRtAiN your child all summer long! Our enthusiastic and creative staff have put together a fantastic program for your child this summer, with plenty of opportunities to meet new friends, learn new talents, develop positive self-esteem, and create wonderful childhood memories! We are now a state-licensed Day Camp Provider! Which camp is right for your child? p 1st-5th Clintonwood Cam A great opportunity for your elementary schooler to have fun all day long! Camp is divided into grades 1-3 and 4-5, so children are with those their own age! Discovery Camp 6th-9t h This field trip-oriented camp is for middle and junior high school students only! Discovery Camp cris-crosses the Metro Detroit area every week, going to places like Great Lakes Crossing, Detroit Shock and Tigers games, and Independence Oaks beach Schedule (Note: No Camp July 2-3) Week 1: June Week 2: June Week 3: June 29-Jul. 1 NO CAMP JULY 2-3 Week 4: July 6-10 Week 5: July Week 6: July Week 7: July Week 8: August 3-7 Week 9: August Both camps held at Clintonwood Park, 6000 Clarkston Road. Finish n Fun Camp - August Calling all kids going into 1st-5th grades: if you are looking for an exciting way to finish the summer, this is it! This week of camp is all field trips to exciting places around town, like to water parks, to play laser tag, rock climbing and go-karting, and so much more! This program is for teens ages who are not yet old enough to be counselors, but who enjoy working with children and want to gain firsthand experience in a camp counselor role! C.I.T.s assist Camp Counselors in both Clintonwood and Preschool Camps. No paid compensation, but community service hours are awarded. Applications are available at the P&R department and online! Preschool camps These camps are designed for independent children who must be able to separate from parents and follow simple directions. Parents do not stay. CHILDREN MUST BE POTTY-TRAINED.

The outdoor activities Camp Caterpillar offers daily are sure to keep your child busy, involved and excited. Camp will be jam-packed with games, awesome activities, sing-a-longs, and snacks.

5 Preschool camps These camps are designed for independent children who must be able to separate from parents and follow simple directions. Parents do not stay. CHILDREN MUST BE POTTY-TRAINED. Child MUST meet age requirements before the first day of the program. r Camp Caterpilla This camp is designed for your sports-loving preschooler! The outdoor activities Camp Caterpillar offers daily are sure to keep your child busy, involved and excited. Camp will be jam-packed with games, awesome activities, sing-a-longs, and snacks. Little Stars Camp Playin It Safe Camp Bumblebe e This is a preschool education program for children to learn everyday safety tips, including motorist, bus, police, fire, bicycle, and pedestrian safety. Children will also be alerted to proper behavior with strangers and how to say NO to drugs. Movies, songs, and a bus field trip to the Fire Department will help each child understand and enjoy what they re learning! Your child will be able to ride their hot wheels and tricycles in our SAFETY TOWN to learn the rules of sidewalks and street crossings. This is a MUST for every child to experience!! Sing, dance, act, and create! Each day is a performing arts bonanza - interpret a book, learn a dance, make an art project, and sing songs. Monday-Thursday will be spent learning exciting numbers to perform in a show for parents during the last 30 minutes of camp on Thursday, so don t forget your video cameras! Why? Why? Why? If you hear this question from your busy little worker bee, this is the perfect camp for your preschooler! This camp is designed specifically to answer all those quizzical questions, and to introduce children to new, different, and creative concepts. Little Farm ers Sign your pre-schooler up for a week of fun-filled activities such as games, songs, arts and crafts, snacks, and the All Kids Playground. We will introduce them to the animals at Hess-Hathaway Park in Waterford. All pre-school camps are done in conjunction with Waterford Township Parks and Recreation All camps are for ages 3-6 (Camp Playin it Safe ages 4-6)

6 Registration and Cost Information To register for any of our pre-school camp programs, a pre-school registration form and medical form must be mailed or brought to our office. Your child s birth certificate must also be verified by the Parks & Recreation department if your child has not previously participated in an ITPR program. Two solid hours of horseback riding each day! Be sure to bring a sack lunch. 8 sessions Beginning 6/15, 6/22, 7/13, (M-Th): 7/20, 7/27, 8/3, 8/10, 8/17 $275 res/$300 non Registration begins Wednesday, February 11! 8 Frequently-Asked Camp Questions WHAT HAPPENS ON A TYPICAL DAY AT CAMP? A typical day at camp starts at 10am and goes until 4 pm. Mornings usually contain large group games and/or other activities. Lunchtime is at noon each day, unless it s a field trip or beach day, and after lunch campers usually have group rotations of different smaller games and/or other activities until check-out time. WHERE DO THE CAMPERS GO ON BEACH DAYS? Beach days take place at Deer Lake Beach for all Clintonwood Campers. Discovery Camp Campers rotate between Deer Lake Beach, Groveland Oaks, and Independence Oaks. Campers visit the beach once a week. WHAT ABOUT FIELD TRIP DAYS? This summer we have a number of exciting field trips planned, including visits to the Detroit Zoo, a Detroit Shock game, Huckleberry Railroad, the Cranbrook Science Museum, a Lansing Lugnuts game, Lazer Quest, Red Oaks Water Park, and many more! HOW MANY CAMPERS ARE IN A COUNSELOR GROUP? For Clintonwood Camp our ratios are 1:10; our ratio at Discovery Camp is 1:12; and our Preschool Camp ratios are 1:8. We follow these ratios strictly! WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE STATE LICENSED? All staff must be CPR/First Aid Certified and pass a background check. All staff must also be at least 18 years old and log a certain amount of training hours for the duration of the program. DO YOU PROVIDE CAMP BEFORE 10AM OR AFTER 4PM? We do have a Before and After Care Program, available for an additional charge at $.85 for every 15 minutes before or after camp per child, and can be purchased as punch cards. You do not need to pre-register or sign up to use the Before and After Care Program. Simply bring you camper or campers early and hand over your punch card! WHAT DO YOU DO WHAT IT RAINS? When there is inclement weather, campers go into the Day Camp Building (next to the Day Camp Pavilion) or occasionally use the Carriage House at Clintonwood Park. WHAT SHOULD I SEND WITH MY CHILD TO CAMP? A healthy and nutritious lunch An extra water bottle for hot days Sunscreen NO Toys, cell phones, IPODs, MP3 players, or hand-held electronic games Be sure to label all your child s belongings with their first and last name! WHAT IS A SECURITY CODE? Security Codes are assigned to each camper when they register for camp. To sign your child out of camp, you need to provide their Security Code. If someone else is picking up your child from camp, the Supervisor must be notified either at drop off or by calling the Parks and Recreation Office, and the individual MUST know the Security Code. Outdoors Camps These camps get children and teens out and about in the summer sunshine.

Activities are designed to teach participants to appreciate and respect our environment by providing information and education about our local wildlife and environment using a hands-on approach.

Lifeguard Camp This program teaches strong swimmers the ins and outs of being a lifeguard.

Team Reptile Team Reptile s mission is to provide people with information and education regarding reptiles, amphibians, and other wildlife that inhabit Michigan. Activities are designed to teach participants to appreciate and respect our environment by providing information and education about our local wildlife and environment using a hands-on approach. Sessions: June 29-July 2, July 13-16, July 27-30, August 3-6 at the Mill Park Pond Pavilion 9:30am-1:30pm $100 res/$110 non Jr. Lifeguard Camp This program teaches strong swimmers the ins and outs of being a lifeguard. This hands-on course will teach lifesaving techniques, basic first aid, CPR, and will help participants improve their swimming ability. After completing the course, participants will have the option to volunteer at Deer Lake Beach and assist a Swim Instructor with a swim lesson. For ages 14 and up, or those who have completed Advanced level swimming lessons at Deer Lake Beach. M-Th, July :30am-1:30pm Oakland County s Wild Adventures Cam p Outdoor activities bring learning and fun together as one - geocaching, starlab, big wheeling, fishing, and fort building to name a few. From camoflauge (a new t wist to hide & seek) to crafts to climbing towers to waterparks, the adventure never ends! For ages August 3-7 at Independence Oaks $140 res/$150 non TOGA EXTREM E Camp Combine outdoor leadership, adventure teambuilding, and outdoor recreation into five days full of fun and excitement! This camp includes canoeing, climbing, geocaching, and mountain biking, with a day-long trip down the Huron River followed by a camp-out! Bring your friends and take it to the EXTREME! 10 Creative Camps These camps are perfect for Clarkston s most creative kids. Stretch those minds and enhance those talents this sumer with ITPR! Chess Camp Kids will learn how to play chess and master their technique. Students will be taught by worldrenowned chess coaches. They will learn very cool openings, midgames (with all the pins), double attacks, endgames, and other fun things in chess even bug house and a camp tournament! All campers will receive a chess board, a set of chess pieces, Chess Wizards T-shirt, scoreboard, trophy & work folder. Taught by Chess Wizards experts. Deadline to register is 6/15. June 22-26, 8:30am-2:30pm The Play s the Thing Theater Camp In this exciting two week Camp, your child will play Theater games that enhance imagination, as well as speaking skills. They will explore character development and script analysis. Each child will get a chance to perform every day and the Camp will end with a short, informal performance in which every child will have a role! After participating, your child will be more confident in both social settings and on stage. Deadline to register is 6/29. If space exists after the registration deadline, add $10. Grades 2-5 as of the school year. Held at SMS. M-Th, July 6-16, 9-11am $239 res/$259 non $129 res/$149 non RockStock Summer Rock n Roll Camp The most rockin summer camp ever! Be a real guitar hero in a real rockband and play high profile gigs in front of large crowds! Rock musicians from beginners to advanced receive hands-on instruction and play as much as they can, while gaining valuable music knowledge and experience. This camp stresses team work, showmanship, attitude, and basic music theory. Highlights include an afternoon concert, and participation in the Independence Township July 4th festivities, including the parade and a pre-fireworks concert. Instruments include guitar, bass, drums, keys, and vocals. Instructional material provided. Deadline to register is 6/22. If space exists after the registration deadline, add $10.
