2 ABOUT THE TOUR The CIS Africa tour is organized by university representatives that make up the volunteer CIS Committee on Europe, The Middle East, and Africa (CEMA). With their knowledge of institutional requirements and limitations, they have created a tour with fellow universities in mind. The tour will provide a productive yet complete itinerary across East and Southern Africa, passing through eight countries over thirteen days. A busy first week will end in Mauritius for a weekend pause before moving on to Johannesburg where participants will be based for the second week, carrying out day trips to the remaining destinations. All flights reserved for this year s tour will be direct flights. During the tour, participants lead workshops to help students, parents, counsellors, and teachers learn more about admission-related topics. Daily interaction with admissions professionals from other CIS member universities allows you to learn from others, share ideas, and build your network. Tour Mentorship Programme On CIS Tours, participants who are new to admissions and recruitment (less than 2 years of experience) are matched with experienced admission travelers who serve as their mentors. The programme aims to support mentees in building relevant skills and expertise as student recruitment/ admission experts travelling internationally.

She started her journey at IE University, based in Madrid in She joined the IE London office in 2013 where she is now the Director and contact person for IE s undergraduate and postgraduate programs. ASSISTANT TOUR DIRECTOR Carolyn O Keefe Memorial University of Newfoundland carolynok@mun.ca Carolyn has over eleven years of experience in the higher education industry and has extensive recruitment and travel experience in Africa, the Middle East, Turkey and China. As a member of the CIS Canadian Higher Education Committee, she led the Africa tour and served as assistant tour director on the Middle East tour. 5 TRAVEL DETAILS DESTINATIONS Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), Kigali (Rwanda), Nairobi & Molo (Kenya), Port Louis (Mauritius), Lusaka (Zambia), Maputo (Mozambique), Gaborone (Botswana), Johannesburg (South Africa). TRANSPORTATION All flights will be booked in economy class. Flights covered within the tour price will begin on leaving Addis Ababa until arriving into Johannesburg. Tour participants will be responsible for arriving into Addis Ababa and arranging to leave from Johannesburg. While international flights outside of this itinerary are not included, Wren International can assist with flight bookings. ACCOMMODATIONS The tour cost will cover fourteen nights at first class hotels. Offering single, individual rooms for each traveler, taxes, breakfast and internet access. TRANSFERS Included from airport to the hotel and vice versa, by private motor coach. All group transfers for school visits and college fairs are included. ORIENTATION/ DEBRIEFING The orientation meeting in Addis Ababa will be mandatory for all participants as well as the final debrief meeting in Johannesburg. MEALS Daily breakfast. Opening dinner in Addis Ababa and closing dinner in Johannesburg GRATUITIES & TAXES All gratuities and taxes attached to transportation, accommodation and transfers are included in the tour price. This is also the case for airport and hotel porters, drivers, country guide gratuities and airport departure taxes. PASSPORTS/VISAS A valid passport is required to travel, along with a minimum validity of six months from the scheduled return date and six empty visa pages. Visas are not included in the cost of the tour. Wren International can assist with letters of invitation and/or referrals to our partner CIBT as needed. TOUR GUIDANCE The Tour Director and Assistant Tour Director are experienced admissions professionals who have planned and will lead this tour. A professional tour manager from Wren International will also travel with the group to handle all technical travel details. WEBPAGE A webpage providing tour details to support travelers will be made available to participants. Login details and a password will be provided as part of the pre-tour communication. TOUR MATERIALS Appropriate pre-tour information and pre-trip literature will be provided to all tour participants. Luggage tags and a mobile Tour Guidebook app, will be provided for all participants. TRAVEL INSURANCE A group coverage policy is included for all participants. A copy can be obtained from Wren International. MISCELLANEOUS Information on the schools which form part of the tour as well as cultural background information on the countries to be visited will be provided in advance. A CIS brochure with information about each participating institution will be provided to all host schools to share with prospective students and school counselors.

6 GENERAL CONDITIONS CIS tours are available to CIS Higher Education member institutions only. Participants must be full-time, permanent international admission officers of the member institution. Preference is shown to participants with at least two years of full-time university admissions experience. A limited number of places are available for participants with less than two years of experience who agree to participate in the CIS Tour Mentorship Programme to support their professional development while on the tour. Participants must adhere to the CIS Code of Ethics and the Guiding Principles for Higher Education Members. Participants must take part in the entire tour itinerary; deviations from the tour itinerary are not permitted. An institution may not send more than one representative. Additional travellers may not accompany the tour participant at any time on the tour. Participants must be prepared to make general presentations on the university admissions process and be familiar with the admission and financial aid policies of their own institutions and the concerns of international students. Any substitution in the person travelling must be reviewed and approved by CIS at least 45 days prior to the start of the tour. The new participant must submit a completed application and is required to meet all of the conditions for participation. Once approved, substitute travellers will pay a USD 1,000 change fee plus any additional tour expenses. Due to space restrictions, floor displays at school visits are prohibited. Promotional giveaways are also not permitted. Participants must remain behind their tables when interacting with attendees. The Council of International Schools (CIS) frequently photographs and/or videotapes and records its events and meetings. By attending this event you consent to being recorded and/or photographed, and authorize CIS to use any video, recording, and/ or photographs in any medium (web, digital, print, broadcast) throughout the world at CIS s sole and exclusive discretion.

7 COST OF PARTICIPATION USD 15,600 7 JANUARY 2019 PRIORITY APPLICATION DEADLINE PAYMENT & REGISTRATION 7 January Tour application with USD 1,125 deposit (excl. VAT) is due to CIS. Participants must meet the conditions for participation and application deadlines in order to be considered. 15 January Balance of USD 14,475 is due to Wren International. There is a late fee of 5% assessed after 15 January Tour price and itinerary are subject to change due to: revaluation of the US dollar, fuel surcharges, government taxes, airport departure taxes, reciprocity taxes, entry visa fees, changes in security situation, itinerary changes (before and during the tour) and all other items not in the control of Wren International and the Council of International Schools. CANCELLATION/PENALTIES CIS and Wren International will only accept written cancellations. Fees will be assessed for cancellations in the following manner: Cancellations prior to 7 January 2019: 100% of the tour balance is refundable, including the USD 1,125 tour deposit. Cancellations between 7 January 2019 and 15 January 2019: 100% of the tour balance is refundable, less the USD 1,125 tour deposit and any unrecoverable tour expenses. Cancellations between 16 January 2019 and 31 January 2019: 50% of the tour balance is refundable, less the USD 1,125 tour deposit and any unrecoverable tour expenses. No refund will be made if cancellation is received after 31 January If you have chosen to pay with a credit card, your tour deposit will be processed when you click Submit Application. All wire transfers must be made within 30 days of the tour application date. The tour deposit is refundable should a tour applicant not be selected for the tour.
