1 FINAL Service Changes to Flex Routes 49, 185, 195, and 750 To Be Implemented January 4, 2016
2 Summary This document contains final schedules, route maps, and details for service changes that will begin on Monday, January 4, Starting Monday, January 4, 2016, the following service changes will go into effect: 1. Flex Routes 49, 185, 195 and 750 will become fixed routes and will no longer deviate off-route within ¾ of a mile to pick up and drop off passengers. Complementary paratransit service will be available. 2. The fixed route that will replace Flex Route 49 will be called Route Routes 409, 185, and 195 will begin operating on new schedules and adjusted routes. 4. Local fixed route fares will be charged on Routes 409, 185, 195 and $1 Regular, $0.50 Youth, and $0.50 Reduced or Disabled. Passengers may also choose to use one-day and 31-day passes are also available. 5. The portion of Route 185 between Burlington and Bay View will be eliminated due to low ridership. 6. The portion of Route 195 between the Skagit Valley Casino and the Alger Park and Ride will be eliminated due to low ridership. 7. Route 195 will begin operating three days per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday). 8. Service days on Route 185 will be reduced from five (5) days per week to three (3) due to low ridership. What s the Difference between Flex Routes and Fixed Routes? Flex Routes 49, 185, 195 and 750 serve Anacortes, Bayview, Bow-Edison, Alger, and Marblemount. Starting January 4, 2016, these flex routes will begin operating as fixed routes. Unlike Flex Routes, fixed route buses do not travel off of their designated route to pick up or drop off passengers. Passengers must use designated bus stops on the mapped route. Passengers living within ¾ of a mile of a fixed route but whose conditions and/or disabilities prevent them from using fixed route service, should contact to discuss ADA Paratransit Service. Eligibility for Paratransit service is based on the review of an application in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
3 Bus Fare Starting January 4, 2016, standard fare ($1 Regular / $0.50 Youth / $0.50 Reduced) will be required on Routes 409, 185, 195, and 750. Passes are also available. Passengers unfamiliar with Skagit Transit s fare system should refer to the table below. Passengers with further questions about fares can call Customer Service at , refer to our Rider Guide, or refer to fare information on the Skagit Transit website Please be prepared to pay a fare starting January 4, 2016.
4 Upcoming Service Changes Route 49 Route 49 will be replaced by fixed route 409. Route 409 will operate on a circular route departing the Anacortes transfer stop at 10 th Street and Q Avenue every 30 minutes. No changes have been made to service hours or days. Routing has changed as follows: Route 409 will expand to cover 6 th and 8 th Streets. The Senior Activity Center, Pool, Guemes Ferry, City Hall, and Library will become regular stops on Route 409. The bus will no longer provide demand-response work for paratransit clients. This work will be provided by a separate paratransit vehicle and driver. Passengers will be required to board and debark at marked bus stops along the mapped route. The bus will not make on-request stops to locations off of the marked route. Route 185 Due to low ridership, the number of service days and the areas covered by Route 185 will be reduced. Service days are proposed to be cut from five (5) to three (3). The portion of the route traveling between West Burlington and Bayview will also be eliminated. Route 185 will provide service to Bow- Edison on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Unless otherwise specified on the route map, passengers must board and debark at bus stops along the mapped route. Route 195 Beginning January 4, 2016, service days on Route 195 will increase from two (2) to three (3) with the bus operating on a Monday-Wednesday-Friday schedule. Additionally, the portion of the route operating between the Skagit Valley Casino and the Alger Park and Ride will be eliminated due to low ridership. Unless otherwise specified on the route map, passengers must board and debark at bus stops along the mapped route. Route 750 Route 750 operates on Fridays and provides two roundtrips between Sedro-Woolley and Marblemount. No changes are planned to the existing route, service days, or service hours. Passengers will see minor schedule changes. The biggest change for passengers will be that the bus will no longer travel off-route to pick-up or drop-off passengers. Passengers will be required to board and debark at marked bus stops. Final route maps and schedules appear on the following pages.
