Northern Virginia Pilot
Life in Northern Virginia
Northern Virginia Pilot 6 month dynamic ridesharing pilot project Funded d by FHWA Value Pricing i Pilot Program grant Focus exclusively on military personnel and contractors commuting to BRAC sites Quantico Quantico Ft. Belvoir Ft. Belvoir North Mark Center Arlington Hall

Project Stakeholders Virginia Department of Transportation Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation Northern Virginia i i Regional Commission i Arlington County Commuter Services Fairfax County City of Alexandria BRAC locations Prince William County Stafford County Potomac Rappahannock Transportation Commission WMATA Fairfax County Connector Private Contractors
Goals and Objectives Conduct a 6-month pilot of dynamic ridesharing along I-395/95 Recruit 500 drivers and 1000 riders Achieve at least 20 ride matches per month Reduce 120,000 SOV trips over 6 months Ensure self-sustaining dynamic ridesharing system beyond the pilot Evaluate results
Potential Benefits for BRAC Locations Incentives for participants - $25 gas cards for all, $20 monthly credits for riders. Drivers save on gas money - $1 passenger, $0.20 per mile. Riders get an affordable alternative to SOV or transit. Helps grow vanpooling and carpooling at BRAC locations. Provide trial to those who have never tried system before. Help change ridesharing attitudes if successful.
