10 2017 IN REVIEW Thank you for spending 2017 with KVIE for sharing in all the discoveries, exploration, investigation, and conversation. From drama to science and public affairs to local storytelling, thank you for joining us on this journey. JUNE Sidney Chambers solved mysteries in Grantchester on MASTERPIECE and we brought home three local Emmy Awards two for ViewFinder and one for Rob on the Road! JULY Another sweet season of The Great British Baking Show tempted our taste buds, we ventured north for Wild Alaska Live, and dove deep to explore the ocean with Big Pacific. JANUARY We welcomed a new queen with the premiere of Victoria on MASTERPIECE. And we launched our new channel, KVIE PBS KIDS, serving our littlest viewers and their caregivers, 24 hours a day. FEBRUARY We premiered our newest KVIE production, Inside California Education, and Nature: Spy in the Wild gave you an inside look at animal behavior. MARCH ViewFinder: Healing Beyond Medicine shared some of the alternate therapies local doctors are trying to help their patients, from cuddle therapy to horseback riding. AUGUST We looked to the sky with our protective glasses on NOVA: Eclipse Over America and Congressman John Garamendi stopped by Studio Sacramento to discuss leading issues. SEPTEMBER Ken Burns landmark documentary The Vietnam War revealed the war from all sides and we showcased local experiences with our own series, My Vietnam War Story. OCTOBER Local art took center stage at the 36th Annual KVIE Art Auction, while Poldark and The Durrells in Corfu returned to MASTERPIECE for new seasons. APRIL We marked the centennial of WWI with American Experience: The Great War and shared laughter and tears with a new season of Call the Midwife. NOVEMBER Beyond A Year in Space took us behind the scenes at NASA with astronaut Scott Kelly and we returned to Avonlea for Anne of Green Gables: The Good Stars. MAY Downton Abbey s Joanne Froggatt served up a spooky new role in Dark Angel on MASTERPIECE and we honored our fallen service men and women with the annual National Memorial Day Concert.
