1 September 2016 program guide THE CHOICE 2016 Volume 30 Tuesday, September 27 8pm Number 9

2 GENERAL MANAGER MESSAGE I m required each year to submit an Annual Report to the state, and I wanted to share part of that report with you. I m often asked by our Members how we spend our money and where their Member dollars go. I ve attached two charts to help explain. These are based on our unaudited figures for Fiscal Year Our total expenses for FY2016 were about 3.4 million dollars. Of that, 45% are in salaries and benefits, 23% in Programming, including our PBS dues, 13% Administration, 8% Engineering, 7% Production, and 4% Marketing/Outreach/Education. Our Education expenses are far too low, as are our engineering expenses. We should be spending about 15% on Engineering to maintain and upgrade our network and equipment. We should be spending at least 10% on Marketing and Education. Those are challenges for the upcoming Fiscal Year. Our income for FY 2016 was just under 3.5 million dollars. Of that 55% comes from the State of Wyoming, 27% comes from Federal Funding, 8% comes from programming and production related grants and underwriting, 6% comes from individual Member contributions, and 4% comes from sources such as contract production and rental from our network of towers. Any excess Income will be carried forward into FY2017 and will be used to increase spending on Education and Engineering. Where do your Member dollars go in order to produce local programs and to pay for the other programs you enjoy? The $1,000,000 in local production and programming costs were offset by the $222,000 in Membership, plus an additional $400,000 in underwriting, grants, and other income. Our Federal Grant helps cover the rest. As I say during our Membership drives, You make it happen. Thank you for your support and thank you for watching WyomingPBS.
