2 Z News June 2016 Flying Start By Pinch Hitter, Linda Williams Jason has been really busy this month so he has asked me to pinch hit for him and the first thing I d like to do is congratulate his wife, Trisha and him for the new addition of their little girl, Catherine Alice who came into the world on Monday May 16th. I m sure she will be riding along on some future drives to get her introduced to the car world real soon. Our May meeting was held at the Dublin Nissan dealership on the 7th with 9 cars participating even though the weather was a little wet. A big thanks to Steven Ernest for allowing us to hold our meeting in their conference room. Also, Roger Bramble (club member) is now their Asst. Service Manager, be sure to go visit him if you have any car needs. We are looking forward to the Fort Bragg Run on May 21st & 22nd that Mary and Ken will be hosting. It should be a lot of fun with lots of beautiful scenery to drive our cars through. We will be visiting the Botanical Gardens, Glass Beach, Point Cabrillo Light House and Newport Ranch. On June 25th we will be hosting a Gathering at the Blackhawk Auto Museum in Danville. Be sure to preregister to be eligible for the drawing to have your car parked up on the Plaza (must be a ZONC member). There seems to be a lot of interest in this event and we may even have some guests from another Z-Club that have expressed interest in joining us to meet other car enthusiasts. The plans for the annual picnic are coming together and will be held at Coyote Point Recreational Area in San Mateo on August 28th, time to be determined. There will be a parking lot very close to the picnic area for us to show our cars. Our annual car show will be at the Brisbane Marina on September 10th from 10am 3pm. We are anticipating a very good turnout with lots of raffle prizes and trophies. The 240Z class will have some changes from the past which will include stock, modified and highly modified. (Clarification continued in next column of classes will be determined and distributed prior to the show). We will also be giving trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the 240Z classes since more than 1/3 of our ZONC cars are 240Zs. The other classes will have stock and modified combined and will have 1st and 2nd place trophies awarded. Living in California gives us so many wonderful days to drive and enjoy our cars, which is why we have this club. Please remember to drive safely and share the love of the Z. See you at the next event!! ZONC's President Welcomes... Catherine Alice Green PLEASE WELCOME NEW ZONC MEMBERS... Paul Chavez Dale Van Matre Susan Van Matre Roadster 350z 370z ZONC Celebrates the 10th Year Anniversary of our Webmaster, Karl Twiford. Karl has provided ZONC with an outstanding website that presents ZONC to the public. He is responsible for the on-going maintenance and posting of our fliers and other information to keep out members connected. Thank You Karl! Page 2

3 Z News June 2016 ZONC Meet at Dublin Nissan By Linda Williams A big thank you to Steven Ernest, Parts and Service Director at Dublin Nissan for hosting our ZONC meeting in their conference room on May 7th. We were met with a little rain but that didn't stop Jason Green, Wade Warren, Bob and Marci Jenkins, Linda Williams, Marshall Adams, Horacio Martin, Dennis Purpura and Gary Kerchner from attending with 7 Datsun/Nissan cars to show. There was a lot of chatter about our cars from the sales people and little did we know, one of our members now works for this dealership. Roger Bramble is their Assistant Service Manager and was so excited to see us. He said he hadn't been able to attend any of the meetings so it was nice that we brought the meeting to him! Steven and Roger have invited us back for meetings in the future. We discussed the distribution of Dealer/Sponsor letters and the business cards that will be included with the letters for the annual car show in Brisbane. We hope the dealers distribute the cards to new Nissan car buyers or customers of their service departments to help boost our membership base. The flyer, trophies, T-shirts and goodie bags were all finalized and the last of the planning was almost completed. If you know of anyone that would like to be a sponsor, please let us know so we can send them a letter. We are accepting donations for our raffle if you have any contacts with business' in the community. We are all looking forward to our Z-Gathering at Blackhawk Auto Museum on June 25 th. Please remember to pre-register so you can get in on the drawing to be one of fifteen cars that will be on display up on the main plaza in front of the museum. You must be a ZONC member to be eligible for the drawing. It's always such a great venue to have a display of our members cars. Our annual picnic and BBQ will be on August 28th at Coyote Point in Burlingame. This will be a pot-luck event with ZONC providing the beverages, hot dogs, sausages and hamburgers (including buns). We are asking the members to bring salads or desserts to share with everyone. There is a children's play area close by as well as the restrooms. There is a parking lot next to the picnic area and it overlooks the marina. There will be shaded picnic areas from the Eucalyptus trees but the parking is open. We are looking forward to seeing everyone at Blackhawk! continued in next column Page 3
