Kind of over this white stuff if you know what I mean. Seems the older one gets the less you enjoy the cold weather. I think when the kids were younger it was always fun to see them enjoying the snow, making snowmen, having snowball fights, and watching them go up and down the hill on their sleds. Kids are all grown up now and its doesn t seem to be as much fun to build a snowman, Kathy doesn't seem to enjoy having that snowball thrown at her anymore. Not much left to enjoy this cold snowy weather so I think its time to head south until riding season is back in full swing. Sound like a plan? So off we go. Game night season is upon us and how better to kick off game night than a Saturday gathering at Kyle and Bobbies. Always a good time to get together and bring out the card games and the great food our members prepare and bring for everyone to enjoy. Big thanks go out to Linda for planning and thanks to the Beeler s for hosting game day at their beautiful home. Never too early to be thinking about getting your 2 or 3 wheeler ready to go for the riding season, always better to get it in to your favorite place early, that way they will have plenty time to go over things and get it ready so you will be ready when the first beautiful spring day arrives and you can t wait to get out and go. By the way I always recommend a riders course in the spring to sharpen your riding skills and improve your riding experience. Ride safe! Tom Page 2

3 Last Saturday, January 25th, several of the Bees enjoyed Game Day at Kyle & Bobbie Beeler's lovely home. Those of you who were unable to come missed more than just the great food prepared by Bobbie and some of the other girls. Games played were Nines (a new one for our group), Five Crowns, and Marbles. Daniel, Wally, and Kyle mostly enjoyed talking and watching football...so everyone kept busy talking, laughing (a lot), visiting, and playing cards, etc. You are encouraged to participate in these get-togethers. It's a great way to get to know our Bees on an individual basis or to learn a new and fun card game! Thanks, Bobbie and Kyle, for welcoming us into your home and being such wonderful hosts. We all had such fun!!! Submitted by Merrilee DeGuire At last month s Chapter Gathering we had the East Tennessee Traveling plaque thanks to Sam Chandler and David Underwood, and as you know they have happily joined Chapter B as active Chapter B participants. We sure want to thank these guys for going out there and visiting other Chapters in our area and you never know when you re going to bring back some wood to the Chapter. Chapter T came out in force pretty much unchallenged to win the plaque and it will be available at their March gathering. Although Chapter B participants will not be eligible to win the plaque from them, there will be plenty of opportunities to not only pick up our East Tennessee Plaque but lets try to get the Region Wanderer Plaque and the Tennessee District Plaque to bring back to Chapter B Page 3

4 Another successful day for Chapter B! Here are some statistics: 105 in attendance (71 registrations and 34 Chapter Bees) With your help we raised more than $3600 for the kids! Our Chapter Challenge (Hot Biker Chicks) raised a record $1118! The winner of the Chapter Challenge was TN-C with a whopping $398 Other Chapters participating were M with $335; T with $80, B with $214, A with $40, and O with $51. Largest Chapter in Attendance was Chapter M with 22; Chapter C was a close second with 20. Page 4

5 Long distance Award went to Dennis and Jan Peterson, Chapter Q, Clarksville, TN. Chili winners were: Lloyd Pitney Best Hot Chili and Crowd Favorite; Cindy Cox Best Unique Chili; Tom Jarrell Best Traditional Chili. Our Couple and Individual of the Year! Although it was cold, the snow stayed away this year and what a great time we had. Thanks, everybody, for participating in our FUN and for helping us to raise money for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation and St. Jude Children s Research Hospital. Page 5

8 Here are a couple of recipes that could be used for Super Bowl snacks: Southwest Corn Spread 2 8-oz. cream cheese, softened 1/4 c. lime juice 1 4-oz. can chopped green chilies 3 green onions, thinly sliced 1 T. ground cumin 1 t. cayenne pepper 1 t. black pepper 1/2 to 1 t. salt 1 can (8 3/4 oz.) whole kernel corn, drained 1 c. chopped walnuts, optional Crackers or tortilla chips In a large mixing bowl, combine cream cheese and lime juice until smooth. Beat in the chilies, onions, cumin, cayenne, black pepper and salt. Stir in corn and walnuts, if desired. Cover spread and refrigerate for at least 4 hours. Serve with crackers or chips. Makes a thick spread with lots of Southwestern flavor. Yield: about 3 cups Pineapple Smokies 1 c. packed brown sugar 3 T. all purpose flour 2 t. ground mustard 1 c. pineapple juice 1/2 c. white vinegar 1 1/2 t. soy sauce 2 lbs. little smokies In a large saucepan, combine the sugar, flour and mustard. Gradually stir in the pineapple juice, vinegar and soy sauce. Bring to a boil over medium heat; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Add sausages; stir to coat, cook, uncovered, for 5 minutes longer or until heated throughout. Serve warm, Yield: about 8 dozen sausages. If you ve taken a rider education course in the United States, chances are that your class used the MSF curriculum, which is based on decades of research, study and practical experience. The MSF is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to rider training, education and improving rider safety. Don t delay! Make your reservations now! Wing Ding 36, Madison, Wisconsin, July 2-5, 2014 Those of us who attended Wing Ding 35 in Greenville really had a great time - even in spite of the rain. We can start now to plan for next year's Wing Ding in Madison, WI. I've checked out a lot of places to stay and this is what I have come up with. GrandStay Residential Suites. All rooms have a kitchen. Some are 2-bedroom and some one-bedroom with private bedroom. The rates are very reasonable. 2-bedroom suite $116.10, 1-bedroom suite $80.10, room with 2 queen beds $ (all beds are queens). Tax is additional at 14.5 %. Booking.com gives this hotel a 9.2 wonderful rating (out of 10). Trip Advisor ranks this hotel at #8 out of 62 hotels. I have reserved three (3) 2-bedroom suites from Monday 6/30 thru Sunday 7/6. That may be all the 2-bedrooms they have - it would not let me reserve more. If you would like to stay in one that I have reserved, just let me know - and it's OK if you change your mind. So far we have all of these 6 rooms spoken for except for one if you would like that room let me know. They can be cancelled the day of. And we can change the dates on any or all of the rooms. I just thought it was a good idea to reserve while rooms are still available. The hotel is about 12 miles and 15 minutes from the rally site. This is the website to check out the hotel and/or to make reservations. FYI, GWRRA's rates for nicer hotels is quite a bit more. So I think this first-rate hotel is a good value for us. Check out the web-site and let me know if you want to stay in one of the 2-bedrooms I have reserved. Or make your own reservation. Page 12
