Triple Creek RV Newsletter is back in production! This is the January July edition. The editor of this news letter has been busy enjoying retirement, and has therefore been a little slow in issuing this newsletter. However, several fans have called this obvious omission to our attention, so we are back in action! A member of our bluegrass family, John W King recently passed away. We had a celebration of his life here at Triple Creek on Saturday January 23. The turnout was fantastic! Lots and lots of people came out for the event. John was a long time friend of Triple Creek, and it was evident by the large quantity of friends that came out. Of course, there was plenty of music at the event.

Getting ready for the spring. Dan and Ricky are trimming up the grape vine. This needs to be done every year, as it s the new growth where the grapes are produced.

We should have a very productive vine this year. We have had a VERY wet spring. Wow have we had some rains.

There is an art as to where to trim, so these two were busy following directions, and counting forks in the parent vine to insure all trims were made in the correct place. We should have a very productive vine this year. We have had a VERY wet spring. Wow have we had some rains. Karen and Marc have owned Triple Creek for 10 years now, and we have never had such torrential rains. Thanks to the many people that have helped work on the road, it has remained open. Its really looking good now, and our county Road Commissioner has been out giving us advice on how to shape and maintain it. In fact, if you go on line, you can find all kinds of articles on the maintenance of a dirt road. There is actually a science to this. So now that we nave renewed direction, we are going after it. Home sweet home is at the end of our dirt road. Come join us and be part of the family. It s a great place to live, and a lot of fun to visit. Now for our very popular section of this newsletter, IN THE NEWS. Dan Tanner s mom was with us this past winter, but she decided the Texas heat wasn t for her, so she went back to being a Yankee. Now Dan doesn t have anyone to tell him what to do. Kenny and Baby Girl - have just added a set of back steps to their house. This is an inside joke, that Kenny will love to explain to you. Just stop him on the porch one day, and be prepared to laugh. It s a great story. Workcampers Larry and Ronda spent a wonderful winter with us. Larry is an early riser, and he started The Mens Club. This is where the guys would gather in the Shack around 5:30 AM for gossip and coffee. We sure missed them when they left. Dan took a group of tourists down to the creek after one of the big rains. They went there to look for fresh artifacts. Sure enough, they found many an old and ancient treasure of arrow heads and much more. If you ever want a private tour of the creek bottom, Deadwood Dan loves to take people down there and look for artifacts. Bubba (Ken) and Janet left Triple Creek in January for a short two week trip to Mexico. So far, they haven t returned. That Bubba is filled with wild stories, so when they get back this winter, I m sure he will be holding our interest with his tales. Just so you know, Bubba was running for the office of Mayor of Triple Creek. The Triple Creek Road Commissioner David James decided that after 8 years on the road, he was going to retire. No more trips up and down the road for him. To date, Deadwood Dan and Ricky Jr have been taking over the road duties. Mr. Lewis does not have a fishing boat currently, so he is not providing the fish for a fish fry. He has been a constant source of fish for years and years. We need another Triple Creek fisherman. Everyone is always glad when we have a fish fry. Miss Ethel had a birthday lately. I m not good with ages, so I m guessing she is just 25 or so. Summer months mean watermelon. We have been having watermelon socials almost daily. 2

3 Join Us for Pickin' in the Pines! our bluegrass family The Redhead Express Redhead Express is a vibrant, sweet harmony, 4-sister act originally from Alaska, and now hailing from Columbia, Tennessee. The Redheads have spent the past 10 years touring with their family band across the country, performing over 1400 shows at Fairs, Festivals and Performing Arts Centers. Currently they are recording their debut country album with renowned producer, Paul Worley. Their original songs, penned by the eldest sister, Kendra, are lyrically rich and soulful, laden with gorgeous, harmonies and unique instrumental arrangements. The fresh, unique sound of Redhead Express will leave you breathless and wanting more! Deadwood Dan at Triple Creek Dan Tanner is the chain saw carver that now calls Triple Creek home. If you look around the park, you will see many examples of Dan s beautiful wood work. Inside the Jam Shack, we have the wooden Indian that Marc always wanted. If you look around the park, you will see two tree trunks that are each over 11 foot tall that Dan has carved. Chainsaw carvings, is taken to an art form... from handcrafted, authentic chain saw carving of bears, dogs, eagles poles and a myriad of other subjects, to unique signature piece furniture & sculpture. Dan is primarily a chainsaw carver, but the chain saw is only the first tool used in this exciting carving process. He also uses chisels, knives & various other power tools until the desired result to please both the customer & myself is achieved. From whimsical to stylized to realistic, an ordinary piece of firewood is transformed into something that will evoke an emotion within you. Whether it is a smile, or awe at the power and majesty of many of God's creations 3

The Musician s Prayer Oh Lord, please bless our music that it might glorify your name. May the talent that you have bestowed upon us be used only to serve you. Let this music be a witness to your majesty and love, and remind us that you are always watching, and listening, from your throne above. May your presence and beauty be found in every note, and may the words that are sung reach the hearts of your people so they will draw closer to you. What s mainly wrong with society today is that too many Dirt Roads have been paved. There s not a problem in America today, crime, drugs, education, divorce, delinquency that wouldn t be remedied, if we just had more Dirt Roads, because Dirt Roads give character. People that live at the end of Dirt Roads learn early on that life is a bumpy ride. That it can jar you right down to your teeth sometimes, but it s worth it, if at the end is home a loving spouse, happy kids and a dog. We wouldn t have near the trouble with our educational system if our kids got their exercise walking a Dirt Road with other kids, from whom they learn how to get along. There was less crime in our streets before they were paved. Criminals didn t walk two dusty miles to rob or rape, if they knew they d be welcomed by 5 barking dogs and a double barrel shotgun. And there were no drive by shootings. Our values were better when our roads were worse! People did not worship their cars more than their kids, and motorists were more courteous, they didn t tailgate by riding the bumper or the guy in front would choke you with dust & bust your windshield with rocks. Dirt Roads taught patience. Dirt Roads were environmentally friendly, you didn t hop in your car for a quart of milk you walked to the barn for your milk. For your mail, you walked to the mail box. What if it rained and the Dirt Road got washed out? That was the best part, then you stayed home and had some family time, roasted marshmallows and popped popcorn and pony rode on Daddy s shoulders and learned how to make prettier quilts than anybody. At the end of Dirt Roads, you soon learned that bad words tasted like soap. Most paved roads lead to trouble, Dirt Roads more likely lead to a fishing creek or a swimming hole. At the end of a Dirt Road, the only time we even locked our car was in August, because if we didn t some neighbor would fill it with too much zucchini. At the end of a Dirt Road, there was always extra springtime income, from when city dudes would get stuck, you d have to hitch up a team and pull them out. Usually you got a dollar always you got a new friend at the end of a Dirt Road! Paul Harvey 4

We discussed the situation, and they helped us with a solution. Its going to take time, but we are certainly working on it. Basically, its just deprived of oxygen.

5 Here is a Darryl and Kay. If you weren t here to see the beautiful and detailed carvings that Darryl did, you missed a special treat. He completed very detailed carvings with his little tools. Many of us would just sit and watch as he would so patiently do his intricate carvings. You just never know what talent will come down the dirt road. FYI, Darryl and Kay came into Triple Creek intending to stay a few days, and ended up staying several months. They were a great addition to our family. Duck Weed has taken over our pond, but we are fighting back! Just recently we attended a seminar put on by Texas A&M on pond management. We discussed the situation, and they helped us with a solution. Its going to take time, but we are certainly working on it. Basically, its just deprived of oxygen. We now have an air pump that is constantly making those tiny air bubbles that are needed to put oxygen back in the water. We will get it healthy again and get those fish thriving. A This is Triple Creek, we have music EVERY weekend of the year, including all holidays. Q What time do you start playing? A We have pot luck supper at 5:00 and usually start playing around 6:00 when everyone is finished eating. Q Well, who is going to be there this weekend? A We never know who is coming, but there is always a group, and we always have fun. Q What is the charge to get in? A Just a smile on your face. We don t charge... 5

So far, the she is just collecting hair as fast as her bunnies will grow it. They are such cute sweet bunnies, come take a look at them.

As our friend Darrell Segura says, If it ain t Blueridge, it ain t Bluegrass Remember Danny and Alva? Well Alva has passed on, but she and Danny had a love for spinning and weaving. That love for these crafts has now come to Triple Creek. Her equipment is now located in what was known as the Mabel Murphy shack or most recently, The women's sewing room. Weather you need a place to stay while you are working in our area or a weekend to catch your breath, they will be happy to provide your lodging needs.
