Where has the summer gone? It has been fantastic weather for the cruise -ins and get-togethers. A few of the Rose City Classic members (RCC) went to Hot August Nights. They had a great time, other than one of the cars got washed, not only on the outside, but the inside, also. Some of the other members did a Southern Oregon cruise in Grants Pass. The Bukovis won an award, as well as the Andersons. There was a great turnout of RCC members at The Untouchables Show in Kalama on August 18th. Several of the member s cars received awards. Congratulations to all who won an award. Upcoming events are the Boy s Home on August 25 th at 2pm. Washington members will be meeting at Jantzen Beach Mall in the Stanford s Restaurant parking lot at 12:30pm and leaving at 1pm. For more information feel free to call me. On September 7 th and 8 th is the End of the World Rod Run in Ocean Park, WA. If you are planning on attending please give John Bukovi a call and let him know. John is getting a car count, so he can arrange reserved parking for both Saturday and Sunday. On Friday evening, before the Rod Run, the Bukovis are hosting a dinner. Then, on Saturday evening, the Ploiums will be hosting a BBQ. Please bring a side dish to each event. On September 15 th is the club picnic at John & Suzie Custer s home in Battle Ground, WA at 1pm. The club will provide the main entrée, water and soda pop. Please bring a salad, dessert or appetizer to go along with the main entrée. The club picnic will be the September meeting, so I look forward to seeing every one there. The club is looking for nominations for the 2015 Charity. Please submit your nomination by September 15 th. They will need to be in writing and given to one of the board members. 2 2 Meeting Minutes by Sharon Vincent Visitors were introduced: Bev Stenland s sister, Melissa. She has a 1966 Mustang. Sharon gave the Treasurers Report. See her for numbers. John B. gave the MHRC Report. Not much new. There are now 20 clubs in the MHRC. Bev gave the Sunshine Report-John Custer had his hip operated on, and she sent a plant. The Club Picnic is September 15 and is supposed to be at the Custers. If so, they will need LOTS of volunteers to help, as John will be recuperating from his surgery. Upcoming Events: Sunday, August 18, The Untouchables,Kalama. Those going will meet in Woodland by the Lamiglass factory at 6:00am and leave at 6:30am. August 25, The Boys Home. We will all meet at Stanford s in Jantzen Beach at 12:30pm and leave at 1:00 pm. September 7 & 8, End of the World cruise in Ocean Park. If you are going please let John B. know, as he needs a count of cars, so the Beach Barons can rope off a spot for us. The RCC Christmas Party will be December 7 at the Eagles on Lombard, Portland. Donna B. would like to have a co-chairman and asked for volunteers. Michelle Odem and Carol Adams both will help Donna. Joe asked for reports on fun things that club members have done this summer. Ron told us about the Hot August Nights cruise in Reno, Nevada. Great weather most of the time-one night of rain. The swapmeet was down about 40% from last year. There were lots of real nice cars for the auction. Joe told us about the Grants Pass Show and all of the excitement while out on the lake in an aluminum boat in the middle of a thunder and lightening storm. Several couples went, and they all had a great time. Joe & JoAnne have been doing the dirt track tour this summer. The Club Participation award from The Spot was presented, and it was suggested we all go as a group this next Tuesday. Steve & Carol Pearson had their names drawn for the must be-present-to-win pot. They were not there, so now the pot is $280. Nature is the birds and all their happy goings; flowers nestling, sunshine playing in the grass; our cup is filled from all the overflow. Take note, the angels give us greetings as they pass. 3 Cindy and I would like to thank all who attended our 15th St Mary s Boys Home Show & Shine Sunday, August 25th. We had 13 classics, trucks, and hot rods on display for the boys. Yes, the weather was questionable. OKAY, it rained all morning but, as soon as we arrived, the sky brightened up, and it was dry the rest of the afternoon. It was the largest group of boys ever, with 79 currently at the school. They always have great questions and walk away with smiles and conversation. A few of us made it out to the Cruise In Country Diner for dinner, a nice closure for the day. Future ideas to improve or change the event are always welcome, so please let me or Joe know. Cindy and I appreciate those who always take the time for the boys. We haven t received any yet. You may nominate an organization, if they have a 501c3 designation (taxexempt). Your nomination must be in writing and include the organization s Tax ID Number. Send it or give your nomination to Roger Worf by September 15 at the picnic. Presentations and discussion will take place at the October and November meetings. Voting will take place in December at the same time as officer elections are held. 5

7 THE COLUMBIAN Ridgefield head-on collision injures two Two women were seriously injured Thursday afternoon during a head-on collision in Rigefield. The sedan left the roadway, coming to rest in the brush bordering Interstate 5, while the minivan kept rolling down the wrong side of the road. Joe Ploium, the driver of an oncoming pickup truck, saw the accident occur. He slowed down, giving the minivan some time to slow down, and stopped the vehicle with the front of his truck. The minivan could have otherwise kept going and hit someone else or gone off the roadway, Dawdy said, lauding the driver s quick-thinking actions. The drivers of the minivan and sedan, both women, were transported by ambulance to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. YOU KNOW IT S HOT WHEN... When is it okay to kiss someone? -When they re rich.
