Pop Pay As You Go cards Finding the best ticket for you will depend on various factors including your age, whether you're studying, and what type of transport you use. The information on the following pages is divided by what kind of transport you re using. So whether you re working or studying, this guide will help you save money so you ve more to spend on other things. And of course these passes aren t just valid for getting to and from college or work. You can use them at any time to get to nights out, a part-time job, go shopping whatever you want. Please note that all prices are correct at September 2017 and are subject to change. Pop Pay As You Go is the smart way to pay for public transport in North East England. 4 For travel on Metro Student MetroSaver MetroSaver All zone tickets valid on Metro, the Shields Ferry and local rail* are available for one week or four weeks to all years olds (you don t have to be a student). First you need to get a Pop card because this is what your MetroSaver will be loaded onto. Apply for your FREE Pop card at popcard.org.uk You don't need proof of your age to get a Pop card. Your Pop card will take about five working days to arrive in the post. Take it to a Nexus TravelShop and staff will activate your discount. You will need to show proof that you are aged 16 or 17 years old on 31 August You can now buy or renew your MetroSaver at popcard.org.uk, any Metro station ticket machine, Nexus TravelShop or Payzone store. Find out more at nexus.org.uk/metro 1 week Weeks * Newcastle to Sunderland rail line. You and your money can now go further with a Student MetroSaver. Tickets are available for 4 weeks or a year and all zone tickets are also valid on the Shields Ferry and local rail.* First you need to get a Pop card because this is what your Student MetroSaver will be loaded onto. 6 For travel on buses only School bus service Flat fare If you re 16 or over and travelling on a dedicated school bus service (eg to sixth form) you can travel for a flat fare of 90p. Arriva Student/Young Persons' Saver These are for anyone aged under 19 and/or in full time education. Buy them from the bus driver (with ID), online or from the Arriva m-ticket app. You can also buy the Academic Year Saver by Direct Debt. 7 Stagecoach Under 19 VIP Ticket Be a Very Independent Person with an Under 19 VIP ticket. It s for young people aged 18 and under and is valid on all Stagecoach services in Tyne and Wear. Live Travel Map keeps you up to date wherever you are You ll need a Stagecoach VIP ID Card, Nexus Under 16 Pop card, Network One Young Persons ID card or Arriva Teen Card and then you can buy single tickets from the bus driver, 1 or 7 day tickets from the driver or Stagecoach's mobile app or buy a 4 week ticket at stagecoachbus.com Single journey day days week Stagecoach Unirider Full-time students, can enjoy unlimited travel on any Stagecoach bus throughout Tyne and Wear with a Unirider. You will need current student ID or proof of age to buy your ticket.
