We are very pleased to welcome you to our Queen City, home of the Cincinnati Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Bailliage and the 2018 Midwest Assemblage and Regional Young Chefs and Pastry Competitions! We have a lot of local pride and hope you will enjoy not only the venues we ve chosen to highlight with activities, but also the diverse and appealing attractions available close to our downtown area. Settled in 1788, Cincinnati is located on the north side of the confluence of the Licking and Ohio Rivers. With a population of 298,800, Cincinnati is the third-largest city in Ohio. The metropolitan area, known as Greater Cincinnati, includes counties in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana with a population of more than 2 million people. Cincinnati s international airport, CVG, is in Northern Kentucky just 15 minutes from downtown Cincinnati. Hotels We are utilizing two hotels for this year s Midwest Assemblage: The Hyatt Regency Cincinnati for rooms, and the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza for the Luncheon and Officers Meeting on Friday as well as the Induction Dinner on Saturday. The Hilton was the preferred hotel for meeting and luncheon/dinner venues, but due to a major convention in town, did not have the availability of preferred rooms. The Hyatt has just recently updated their rooms and is just one block away from the Hilton and is accessible both by street and skywalk. The meeting will be open to all Chaîne members, officers and Baillis, and will be hosted by Bailli Délégué Harold Small and Bailli Provincial Renee Wilmeth. The meeting is especially important for all Baillis and Bailliage officers as the meeting will provide updates and training on current Chaîne activities and future events. Cost: $40 per person. The American Sign Museum Dine Around 6:00 PM - 9:30 PM, 1330 Monmouth Avenue, Cincinnati, OH The Cincinnati Bailliage has chosen a very unique venue to introduce you to our city and to taste some of our favorite hometown delights. If you enjoy history, we have a museum where over 100 years of signs have been meticulously restored and displayed to bring back precious memories we all have. The American Sign Museum is the premier institution for preserving historic signs and promoting the sign industry s contributions to commerce, culture and the American landscape. It is 20,000 square feet of more than a century of American signage. From early, pre-electric signs adorned in gold leaf, to the earliest electric signs, to beautiful art-deco neon, to the modern plastic-faced sign, the museum covers it all. As much as the Museum documents American signage, it s also a beautifully restored collection of the evolution of design. Typeface design alone has changed tremendously, and the evolution of color schemes, material choices, and trends are similarly brought to life by the bright and beautiful exhibits. Food stations will be placed around the museum featuring some of Cincinnati s favorite cuisine that we hope you will enjoy as much as we do. We ask each person attending to bring a bottle of quality wine to share. For those coming from out of town, we will have extra wine to compensate for those unable to carry their precious bottles on the plane. Cost: $100 plus one bottle of Quality wine per person. During the morning, Cincinnati s Vice Echanson Mary Horn will provide an educational wine tasting which will lead to a very nice lunch with wine prepared at MCI s own restaurant, the Summit. Open since 1931, the Hilton is one of the world s finest examples of French Art Deco design and is registered as a National Historic Landmark. It has been the #1 Hilton food and beverage hotel in the USA for six out of the last seven years. The venue for our dinner will be the renowned Hall of Mirrors, modeled after the Palace of Versailles, and is Cincinnati s most beautiful ballroom. The reception in the Hall of Mirror s lobby will be followed by the Induction Ceremony in the Rosewood Room just up the stairs from the lobby. Following the Induction Ceremony, we will enjoy an elegant dinner prepared by the hotel s excellent kitchen. The museum also displays the equipment utilized in the design and manufacture of signs. Our Young Chef competition will be held in the MCI kitchen on Saturday. Lunch will be provided at The Summit - an extension of this vision. The Summit staff consists entirely of Cincinnati State students, most of whom are earning college credit as a part of their cooperative education workplace training.

7 Sites to Enjoy On Your Own Downtown Cincinnati is a walkable area but is also connected by the Streetcar! The Cincinnati Bell Connector is Cincinnati's modern streetcar system. It is a 3.6-mile loop that connects Cincinnati's riverfront and Over-the-Rhine areas, making stops at Fountain Square, the Contemporary Arts Center, the JACK Casino, and Washington Park. cincinnatibellconnector.com Accessible by Streetcar Fountain Square has a rich heritage as the center of Cincinnati s civic, social, and commercial life. It is located between 5th and 6th on Vine St. Fountain Square has many events all through the week including speeches, games, movies, concerts, giveaways, and festivals. The square also has many seasonal events. The Fountain Square District is becoming a restaurant and entertainment hub. The location, on the river between Vine and Walnut is the great natural barrier that separated the slave states of the South from the free states of the North. 8 Sites Outside the Downtown Area Accessible by Taxi or Uber Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal at 1301 Western Ave. is one of Cincinnati's greatest architectural treasures and a national historic landmark. It offers several options under one roof - the Cincinnati History Museum, the Children s Museum, the Museum of Natural History & Science, and the Omnimax Theater. Originally opened in 1933 as the Union Terminal train station, it was renovated and reopened as Cincinnati Museum Center in 1990 and was restored in cincymuseum.org The Cincinnati Art Museum at 953 Eden Park Drive, was founded in It is one of the oldest art museums in the United States. It is named for the view of Cincinnati's skyline that Lambrinides could see from his first restaurant (which has since been demolished), opened in the section of town now known as Price Hill.
