2 HOW DOES THE CLUB OF PORTS WORK? The Club of Ports works as a private and friendly platform offering high-level meetings to its Members and providing them with unique networking opportunities within a framework dedicated to experience sharing, knowledge transmission and the permanent discovery of new techniques related to the Maritime Industry. A UNIQUE COMMUNITY The Club of Ports is a unique Community founded by the Crans Montana Forum. Members are (1) decision-makers and stakeholders in the Maritime Transport Industry in Africa & Middle-East and (2) their counterparts from the rest of the world. Special Club of Ports Meeting THE «CRANS MONTANA» TRADITION The Club of Ports Members benefit from the Crans Montana Forum s historical (30 years of activity) and tremendous network and potential. The Crans Montana Forum organizes high-level and exclusive events around the world in a private, friendly and exclusive framework far from publicity and any press coverage. Club of Ports Working Lunch HIGH-QUALITY TARGETED APPROACH All the Economic and Political issues related to the Maritime Industry are at the top of the Club s Agenda. Every topic is tackled with the most renowned experts and key actors to allow a comprehensive approach and shape the right solutions in the most efficient fashion. 3 OUR ACTIVITIES EXPERIENCE SHARING & KNOWLEDGE Members gather in an informal framework with Government representatives and International Organizations, Experts, specialized Companies and key actors from this field. Experience and knowledge sharing, networking and technical discoveries are the Club s essential aims. SPECIALISED MEETINGS The Club organizes specialized panels for each profession related to the Maritime Transport Industry : ship-owners, shippers, charterers, port authorities, maritime companies, logistics and construction companies, maritime insurers, major merchant Ports, classification societies, brokers, etc. A VAST PANORAMA OF ACTIVITIES The challenges of the Maritime Transport industry all over the world are the very top of the agenda of the Club of Ports activities, and especially : Maritime Security and Safety, Fight against Piracy, Infrastructure modernization, capacity-building, competitiveness, new investment opportunities, etc. HIGH-LEVEL TECHNICAL DISCUSSIONS Each meeting is a new opportunity to tackle the daily concerns of the Maritime Transport industry s actors : modernization of Ports and working methods, freight tariffs reduction, competition between terminal operators, the implementation of Public-Private Partnerships, Ports connections with their hinterland but also, technical focus on sustainable and efficient management strategies for dredging or methods of approach, hydrocarbons transport, and negotiation with major foreign groups.
4 THE STRATEGIC COMMITTEE The Club of Ports Strategic Committee is responsible for ensuring the overall coherence of actions undertaken by the Club. Its role is also to create and maintain necessary connections all over the World. The Strategic Committee gathers Heads of Maritime Organizations, major Ports, as well as specialized Companies and Government Officials. It provides the Club with strategic and global views. 5 CLUB OF PORTS LABEL FOR EXCELLENCE The Club of Ports Label for Excellence aims at being awarded to key actors in the Maritime Industry all over the World, and particularly in Africa and Middle-East. The Label is an Official Recognition of (1) outstanding achievements, (2) efforts and (3) initiatives in the development and the management of the Maritime Industry, commitment towards Excellence, outstanding leadership, reliability as well as quality of services, innovation and customer relation management. o o o o o o A Label Committee established in the framework of the Club of Ports, is responsible for nominating winners and monitoring the Label on a yearly basis Any stakeholder in the global Maritime Community may propose a Port, a Company or a Maritime Authority for the Label Nominations are regularly announced by the Club of Ports Presentation Ceremonies are organized in a framework pre-agreed with the Recipient The management of the Recipients official list is placed under the Club of Ports responsibility.
