1 Economic Mission to Cameroon: 4 th International Exhibition for Enterprises, SMEs and Partnerships PROMOTE 2011 The Canadian Council on Africa, in partnership with Afrique Expansion, the Association of Cameroonians of Canada, the Ministry of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade of Quebec and the High Commissioner of Canada in Cameroon, is proud to announce the organization of a mission in Central Africa, for the PROMOTE 2011 Exhibition that will take place in Yaoundé, in Cameroon. This mission is a great opportunity to shine and promote your enterprise or institution at the largest economic gathering in Central Africa! At one place only, you will get the chance to discover the business culture of this region and to meet potential business partners from more than 29 countries, including the members from the Economic Community of Central African States and the Economic and Monetary Community of Central African States (CEEAC/CEMAC): Chad, Cameroon, Republic of Central Africa, Equatorial Guinea, Sao Tomé and Principe, Gabon, Congo-Brazzaville, Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi and Angola. This mission is for everyone who has an interest to one of the countries listed above: to enterprises, to consultants, to investors and financial institutions, as well as institutions specialized in formation and education. During this mission, we will visit Cameroun and its capital Yaoundé. For the activities surrounding the large economic gathering of PROMOTE 2011, you will have the chance to exhibit in the Canadian Pavilion, as well as directly meet with owners and managers of large companies and institutions from this region.

2 Why participate to this important mission? 1- To discover the Cameroon s business opportunities Thanks to the economic liberalisation measures taken by the government of Cameroon, the country has seen its participation to the international trade increase notoriously, being evaluated as an increase of more than 70%. Accordingly, the country is experiencing an average economic growth of roughly 7% per year and maintaining a low inflation rate. Cameroon rests on its agricultural and industrial sectors that are diversified, well-structured and well established; on national and international companies for a more and more dynamic monetary and economic integration of Central Africa. On the inter-regional trade, Cameroon is the leader of CEEAC; its exportations toward this subregion represent more than 50% of the total exportations, the main destinations being DRC, Gabon, Congo-Brazzaville, Equatorial Guinea and Chad. Thus, the economy is more and more revitalized: The Cameroonian economy stands out in many sectors: The country is mainly agricultural, with a production level that allows it, not only to fulfill the local demand, but also fulfill the demand coming from other countries of Central Africa. Cameroon is often referred to as the pantry of the sub-region. The oil production is estimated in 2009 at 26, 7 millions of barrels. To fulfill the demands locally and internationally, the Cameroonian government has given, in the last years, 4 permits to search for hydrocarbons to increase the oil productions in the near future. Many international investors, in partnership with the Cameroonian State, are exploring the mining potential of the country, leading to large projects in the mining sector. Many other international investors, in partnership with the Cameroonian State, are involved in the development of the energy potential of the country. Cameroon, having access to the Congo Basin s forests (which have as surname: the second lungs of the earth), is trying to develop responsibly the forestry sector: Fourteen sites have been open in 2007 and have four priorities: development, promotion of products, promotion of new species and on-site wood processing. The services sector (47% of GDP) is led by the new technologies sector and transports sector. The communication market increases rapidly, with an increase of 34% in 2007 of new subscribers. The network of landlines and mobile phones is also rapidly expanding.

3 2- Participate to PROMOTE 2011 and discover the business opportunities of the CEEAC/CEMAC region The goal of this wide economic gathering that is PROMOTE 2011 is to develop partnerships between the CEEAC/CEMAC members and the rest of the world through new international markets, investments and economic, financial, commercial and technological partnerships. This forum is for entrepreneurs and CEOs who wish to strengthen their position on the Central Africa markets, to discover the new business and investments opportunities and to seek strategic alliances to shine throughout the region. A registration to PROMOTE is a unique occasion to: o Discover a country with a fast economic growth o Meet serious and motivated business people o Develop a network of contacts in a convivial environment o Participate to the most important international business exhibition in Africa, which is Promote 2011 Exhibition o Find new markets and opportunities o Present your business and services to a target audience o Exhibit in the Canadian Pavilion The PROMOTE 2011 Exhibition is: o A place of strategic meetings with economic agents from different sectors through individual meetings, multifaceted partnerships and themed cocktail hour. o A gathering of more than companies from the private sector and institution of national and international economic regulation, as well as more than visitors.
