1 Preface This book has been created as the basis for unit studies on any (or all) African countries. Whilst each country has available a separate and comprehensive Unit Study, some educators prefer to start with the basic outline and create their lessons from there. At this stage the book is suitable for any learner from early grades right through to the more advanced learner. Note the format is A4. Please adjust your printer settings. What I have done in this book is provided the very basic geographic information, together with the Coat of Arms, the National Flag and a blank outline Map, together with Notebooking Pages. A number of Lesson Plans can be worked around these Notebooking pages and suggestions for these you will find in the first section of the book. Again depending on the age of your learner or class these can be adapted to suit very young to much older students. This very versatile book can be utilised in the following areas for ANY age group, studying ANY aspect of any one of these countries with the simple addition of pages and activities suggested in the earlier portion of this book.: Geographical Studies of African Countries Cultural Studies Historical Studies Trade & Industry within African Countries Multi-lingual and Religious Studies of African Countries Preservation and Conservation of African Habitats Endangered African Animals Location, description and identification of African Countries & their capital cities Political Studies of African Countries Scientific Studies of African Countries Used together with one of our Unit Studies on a specific country, one can transform a few pages of detail into a comprehensive country study covering all aspects from their National Plant and animal, exports & imports, culture and dress, places of interest right through to Trade and Tourism. The value of this book on its own or used jointly is almost limitless. It can be used as a fun basic project on African countries or excerpts taken to create comprehensive and informative studies on each country, its people, culture, traditions and current affairs. Once again and most importantly I stress that this book, AS WELL as the UNIT STUDIES for each country are able to be adapted for very young learners to learners of far more advanced years. Discussion between educator and learner will be beneficial. Print out the appropriate pages required for the intended lesson. 1. Look at a map of Africa. Where in Africa is the country situated? 2. What is the landscape and geography of the country? 3. What animals are unique to this country? 4. What is done to preserve the habitat of these animals? 5. Find out about festivals and traditions of this country, when they are held and why they are held. How are they celebrated?
