1 ACTIVITIES REPORT OF THE AFRICAN JUDO UNION Statutory meetings: Between , the Managing Committee of the African Judo Union has held 5 meetings: 23rd March 2014 Tunis, Tunisia 30th October 2014 Algiers, Algeria 17th Janunary 2015 Tunis, Tunisia 13 February 2015 Casablanca, Morocco 25th April 2015 Libreville, Gabon These statutory meetings were convened to assess the implemented current activities organized by AJU and prepare the operations planned as part of the AJU multiannual action plan. -Inspection Missions: Many inspection missions were operated to assess the hosting and organization conditions of the different continental competitions recorded in the action plan of the AJU. A delegation from the AJU Managing Committee travelled from 14 to 19 January 2014 to Chad to examine and study the bid of the National Federation, to host the 2015 edition of the Seniors African Championships. An inspection mission was organized to Tunis in December 2013 to assess the preparations with regards of the organization of the 2014 Cadets and Juniors African Championships, scheduled in Tunisia. An inspection Mission headed to Libreville from 05 to 08 January 2015 to check and assess the preparation and organization conditions of the Seniors African Championships allocated to Gabon to be held from April, Disciplinary actions: 2 disciplinary cases were processed and decided. Two cases are under investigation. 2.Sports Organisation: 1

The AJU is improving the quality of communication as part of its overall commitment to promote the sport of judo. All activities organized at a continental level were covered and posted on AJU website. External Communication: FACEBOOK: 9800 members to our page. Most of the AJU competitions, events and general information are covered on the Facebook page. The numbers of hits to our page increase especially over a competition. 4

TWITTER: We started the twitter page in early 2011, this page does not currently have such a big following but it is growing and with time it will be followed by as many members that we have on

WEBSITE: The AJU webpage is regularly updated with relevant information, 5000 hits per month average. TV and Media Coverage: We have seen good TV and print media coverage for all the recently held events and finals been broadcast live. Internal Communication Vast improvement in communication links. Information disseminated by the African Judo Union Directors through the AJU Communication Director. Communication between National Federations and the AJU has increased, but there is still a problem with Federations whose details are not up to date and s addresses returning. 6.Situations of conflict: -Senegal Judo Federation and Associated Disciplines: A new President was elected in accordance to new adopted statutory provisions to comply with the statutes of the IJF and AJU. AJU has examined and ensured the compliance of the statutes. A representative of AJU attended the elections which were held on 12th October A representative of IJF also attended the elections. The election of a new President put an end to the temporary managing 5

6 committee installed by an order of the Minister of Sports of Senegal on 31 January Congo Judo Federation: A road map has been drawn up by IJF in joint agreement with AJU to find the best solutions to the current conflict, opposing two bodies claiming recognition of their entity. The Olympic Committee of the Democratic Republic is associated as a partner to terminate this pending conflict. Some encountered difficulties, are delaying the implementation of this road map. -Kenyan Judo Federation: The statutes of the federation are examined by the AJU General Secretary before convening a General Assembly to put an end to the temporary Directing Committee which has been set up. 6
