MONTHLY MEETING The Racine City Tavern League will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, February 19, 2018 at 6:00 PM at: 1300 N. Main Street The March meeting will be held on March 19, 2018 at 6:00 PM at: 316 Main Street Want to host a meeting? It s easy, and it s also a great way to introduce our members to your establishment and menu. The following information will guide you through the steps necessary in order for you to host a meeting. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact any of the members of our Board of Directors for assistance. Meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of the month and the site is typically selected two months in advance. DEMERIT POINT SYSTEM NIXED Thanks to the efforts of our local league leaders, the entire package of new ordinances proposed by the City Attorney s office including the demerit point system were sent back to his office to be redrafted without the point system. Thank you to those of you that contacted your Aldermen as well as those of you that showed up at multiple meetings. Whether you spoke against this legislation or just sat in the crowd, your presence was noticed by our city leaders and they ultimately made the right choice because of you! We will also have a voice on the new proposal. Alderman Coe motioned to have it sent through his committee, Public Safety and Licensing, rather than back to the Committee of the Whole, where we ll have an opportunity weigh in on some of the language that we were not in agreement In order to host a meeting you must: Attend a meeting and express an interest in hosting a future meeting. Attend the meeting prior to the one that you are hosting (if you do not, another site will be selected). Either close to the public or have the ability to provide private meeting space for roughly people. Provide a simple meal. with before it goes back to the City Council for a vote. This success is a testament to the value of your membership in the Racine City Tavern League and the Tavern League of Wisconsin. Don t hesitate to mention it when speaking to prospective members. Please join us for Legislative Day in Madison on March 6th to make sure our State Representatives hear our concerns as well.
