4 JUST CRUISIN 1 DAY SOUTHERN FLINDERS RANGES Depart Adelaide approximately 7:00AM for the magnificent Southern Flinders Ranges, travelling through the mid north towns of Port Pirie and Port Germein where we stretch our legs with a short walk into Telowie Gorge. Telowie Gorge Conservation Park is home to the rare and beautiful Yellow-footed rock wallaby. These striking animals are found in rocky habitats, common in this park. It s then onto Port Augusta where we explore the Flinders Ranges in the Wadlata Outback Centre s Tunnel of Time. Discover its origins, the Aboriginal Dreaming, explorers and much more. After a light lunch we head to the Southern Flinders Ranges via Wilmington and Orroroo where we visit a 900-year Old River Red Gum These ancient ranges rise up 750 metres (2,400feet) above sea level to give spectacular views in every direction. If you enjoy pristine untouched Australia, away from the tourist crowd, this is the tour for you. After enjoying the serenity of the Southern FlindersRanges we head back to Adelaide via the wine making region of the Clare Valley arriving approximately 6:00PM. At Port Augusta we explore the Flinders Ranges and Outback in Wadlata Outback Centre s Tunnel of Time. We discover its origins, the Aboriginal Dreaming, European settlement and much more. After lunch we head towards Wilpena Pound via Quorn and Hawker. From Hawker we visit Kanyaka ruins and Death Rock. If you are feeling energetic perhaps we can climb up to see the Yourambulla Caves, where we view Aboriginal rock painting. We spend tonight at Wilpena Resort. DAY 2: After breakfast we have a peaceful bushwalk to Wangarra Lookouts and the Hill Homestead. After our walk we visit Sacred Canyon and Arkaroo Rock (optional) which are major Aboriginal Art sites. We then travel the geological trail through the Brachina Gorge. This gorge traces the geological history of the area for hundreds of million years. Our next stop is the Prairie Hotel at Parachilna where we taste some Aussie tucker. After lunch we head to Adelaide via Port Augusta arriving approximately 6:00PM. DAY 3: Today is an optional visit to Willow Springs SKYTREK one of Australia s popular and most exhilarating 4WD journeys to be experienced. Willow Springs Station is 90,000-acre sheep property. SKYTREK takes you through majestic river red gum-lined creeks groves of native pines and black oak to the top of Mount Caernarvon, the highest vehicle access point in the Flinders Ranges. The eagle s view of the surrounding landscape is breathtaking and truly unforgettable. If due to adverse weather and we are not able to visit SKYTREK we spend a full day visiting more sites in The Flinders Ranges. DAY 4: Depart Wilpena Resort approximately 9:00AM for Adelaide via Hawker and Quorn. From Quorn we travel through the Southern Flinders Ranges to Wilmington. Adelaide is our next destination via the Germein Gorge. Our first stop is Port Augusta, where we explore the Flinders Ranges and Outback in Wadlata Outback Centres Tunnel of Time. Discovering its origins, the Aboriginal Dreaming and much more. After morning tea we head towards Wilpena Pound via Quorn and Hawker. From Hawker we visit Kanyaka ruins and Death Rock, if you are feeling energetic perhaps we can climb up to Yourambulla Caves where we can view some Aboriginal Rock Painting. It s then on to Wilpena Resort for our first night in the Flinders Ranges. Before dinner we stretch our legs on a peaceful bushwalk to Wangarra Lookouts which overlook Wilpena Pound. DAY 2: Today we head to Arkaroola via Brachina Gorge- (This Gorge traces the geological history of the Flinders Ranges for hundreds of million years), to Parachilna s Prairie Hotel for some Aussie tucker (optional). After morning tea we head to IGA WARTA, where we spend some time learning about the ADNYMATHANHA culture and environment. Today we can also participate in a bush tucker walk and/or an Aboriginal art walk. This evening, after dinner, we spend some time sitting around a campfire sampling traditional damper with quandong jam, listening to stories and music of the Adnyamathanha People Overnight Iga Warta. DAY 3: After breakfast we head to Arkaroola visiting Paralana Hot Springs where water emerges at a temperature of 80 degrees Celsius from rocks containing Jasper and ochre. Nearby is Yudnamutana Gorge- one of Australia s deepest gorges. We also visit Stubbs Waterhole- an expanse of still water in a delightful setting reflecting the green foliage of gum trees and the blue the sky, set deep between towering steeply tilted layers of rock formed from the debris dropped by melting icebergs around 700 million years ago. Overnight Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary DAY 4: Depart Arkaroola for Adelaide via Chambers Gorge and Blinman. Our next stop is Sacred Canyon where we stretch our legs on a short walk into the gorge. Sacred Canyon is one of the major Aboriginal art sites in the Flinders Ranges. After lunch at Wilpena Resort we head to Quorn, driving through Buckaringa Gorge and Warren Gorge (time permitting). An option today is the exhilarating Ridgetop Tour to the top of Sillers Lookout. The view after the bone jarring 4WD trip is fantastic and makes you think you are on top of the world. Ridgetop Tour is at own expense. Scenic flights over these majestic mountains are also an option today (own expense). DAY 5: Depart Arkaroola for Adelaide via Chambers Gorge and Blinman. 10 JUST CRUISIN 3 DAY ANDAMOOKA DAY 1: Depart Adelaide approximately 7:00AM for the opal mining town of Andamooka via Port Augusta, where we explore the Flinders Ranges and Outback in the Wadlata Outback Centres Tunnel of Time. Discover its origins, the Aboriginal Dreaming, European settlement and much more. After morning tea we visit Woomera. This outback town was established in 1947 as a site for the launching of experimental rockets. Attractions include Woomera Heritage Centre and Missile Park displaying examples of rockets, aircraft and weapons associated with the testing range. Overnight Andamooka or Roxby Downs. DAY 2: After breakfast we visit Andamooka we for a tour of this incredible last frontier town. The opal is mined 3 to 10 metres down on the ancient sea bed of 1.8 million to 70 million years ago. From 24 separate fields, opalised shells, stones and dinosaur bones are still being brought to the surface. In Andamooka we see how wide the range of opal can be in the many showrooms.
