2 EDITOR SPEAK Dear Readers, GVK CSIA s Terminal 2 has successfully completed it s first year of operations. And during this period, the iconic T2 has been bestowed with many domestic and international laurels for its world-class design and facilities, thus positioning GVK CSIA amongst the best airports globally. It is indeed an airport where customer delight exceeds their expectations, and is truly a tribute to not just Mumbai but the entire nation. Building this captivating Terminal was not an easy job. But what made it happen was the strong vision and motivational leadership skills of our Founder Chairman and MD, Dr GVK Reddy and Vice Chairman, Mr. Sanjay Reddy, along with a team of passionate and dedicated professionals across departments. We take this opportunity to bring you the transcript of the Walk the Talk show on NDTV which featured our Chairman and Vice Chairman sharing with Mr. Shekhar Gupta, the trials and tribulations that went into the making of T2. We also bring to you, in this issue of our e-magazine, GVK WORLD, all the latest updates and recognitions from across all our projects and verticals. While in the middle of receiving all the adulation for its superb architecture and services, the GVK CSIA added another jewel in its crown by opening the all-new luxury Lounge for its first/ business class travellers, the first ever common Luxury Lounge in the country. We have showcased the GVK Lounge s rich Indian design and services in this issue. We also take you into the pages of history, wherein we describe the setting up of the Goindwal Sahib Gurudwara, a place of religious significance for the Sikhs. GVK s Goindwal Sahib Thermal Power Plant, which is very close by, is also named after this famous Gurudwara. To commemorate Women s Day, we had launched a unique contest, Celebrating Womanhood. We have received many interesting contributions from across our locations, and we shall share them shortly with you. In this issue, we have some important health tips specially for women, contributed by GVK EMRI that has launched some specific initiatives across the 15 States and 2 Union Territories, where it is currently operational, for the well-being and upliftment of women, like ambulances dedicated to the mother and child, the 181 Abhayam service, etc. Hope you have a great time reading this e-issue of our in-house publication. 4 Cover Story Down Memory Lane As Terminal 2, GVK CSIA, the jewel in the crown successfully completed one year of operations on 12 February, 2015, we thought of taking our readers down memory lane to February 2014, when, Mr Shekhar Gupta conducted his very famous show Walk the Talk with our dear Chairman, Dr GVK Reddy and Vice Chairman Mr G V Sanjay Reddy. We bring you excerpts of the transcript of what they spoke with Mr Gupta walking around the then yet to be operational T2. Mr Gupta: With its new terminal, the rebuilt Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai has to be one of the finest airports in the world. Mahindra and Mahindra CMD, Anand Mahindra said that if there s one terminal where he wants to be stranded, like Tom Hanks in The Terminal, it is this. The men behind the new airport are the father and son duo of G V K Reddy, Chairman of GVK, and Sanjay. Tell us the story of how this became possible. Dr GVK Reddy: One of the impossible things to build an airport here in the city is that we had 2,000 acres of land that the government had given us, but out of that 50 per cent was occupied. Mr Gupta: By slums? Dr GVK Reddy: Partly slums and also government departments, like Air-India, Indian Airlines, police station, so many

And when they wanted us to build this-actually it was impossible-they wanted us to expand the existing terminal and also to refurbish and operate the existing terminals. I was talking to Sanjay, this is only for 60 years for us (the lease period), and after 60 years, I m not there, you re not there, at least the airport will be made. Mr Gupta: This is your crown jewel now? Dr GVK Reddy: Yes, the crown jewel We started in 2009, within four years, we were able to make it happen. People living in Bombay city, even today, 50 per cent of them are not aware that a new terminal has come up. Mr Gupta: It happened as if you had done it under cover. Dr GVK Reddy: Yes, it looks like that. That is something unimaginable. Mr Gupta: There must have been many heartbreaks This was supposed to have come up two years earlier. Mr G V Sanjay Reddy: When we came to the Mumbai airport in 2006, May 3, I remember, there was only one person I had along with me, because we didn t know much about airport operations and we didn t have much support. It was a huge challenge for the first few years, especially given that, as my father said, we had only 2,000 acres, of which only 1,400 acres was available for airport operations, and even that was occupied. There was nothing vacant. Mr Gupta: That was my immediate reaction as I came here. I said, where was all this land, where was all this space. Mr G V Sanjay Reddy: There was no land. So we had to really create or manufacture land, so to speak. In this one terminal it s

6 Cover Story about 50 acres we had more than 100 buildings, used for various things, whether it was a temple, a police station And each one required its own solution, a different discussion. It was a huge challenge to get people out. I normally use the example that it s like doing an open heart surgery on a marathon runner in the middle of a marathon. Because on one side we have the old terminal which is in operation. We had to break it bit by bit, we had to recreate road networks, we had to change parking, we had to do a lot. It s been a lot of struggle. But in 2006 itself, we had set up a vision, saying that we have to be one of the best airports in the world. Mr Gupta: How did we do it? Mr G V Sanjay Reddy: We selected two things that were, I think, distinguishing. One was the design, which is basically based on traditional Indian design Mr Gupta: It s very pleasant, not forbidding or cold Mr G V Sanjay Reddy: Very welcoming. Even the colours we ve used, we ve used a lot of wood, we ve used a lot of brown colours, and the reason is that we wanted it to reflect India. India is a very hospitable country, and we can t just copy something from the West. Mr Gupta: Unlike most European terminals. Very cold, metallic. Mr G V Sanjay Reddy: Not only European, in Asia too. I can t think of one large terminal in the world which truly reflects that country. That s why we wanted to create a global benchmark to how we actually reengineer airports, how we actually bring about a new thinking in airports. So that was one thinking. And, as you were mentioning, it s very warm and pleasant. The ceiling reflects a thousand white peacocks in the sky. Peacock is India s national bird. Mr Gupta: Your art wall The idea of having almost a museum in a terminal, does it just add to costs or does it add to value? Mr G V Sanjay Reddy: If we have to compete with the best in India, and globally, we have to differentiate ourselves, we thought how can we make ourselves different? That was one. Secondly, to think about Indian identity and Indian pride, and the fact that I personally have a lot of interest in traditional Indian art. So mixing these, we thought, why can t we create a huge programme where we can showcase the best of Mumbai, the best of Maharashtra, and the best of India, to frankly not the world, to Indians? Because I believe that Indians are forgetting what India is, their identity, and especially the next generations. If they see, they will really fall in love with India, rediscover India. That was the whole thought. So, we brought in Rajeev Sethi from Delhi and we had this-more than 3 km of an art programme. Mr Gupta: Once you call him, you can trust him to fill it up with art. You gave him 3 km of wall to play with. Mr G V Sanjay Reddy: It s a four-floor wall, about 60 feet high. And we have two programmes, one at the departure and the second at the arrival. We ve named it Jaya He. Jaya He is part of our national anthem, and Jaya He stands for glory to our country. We have an application which you can download on your smart phone, you can do anything with it. Also, if you like some piece, we re going to merchandise it, where you can actually order a piece and it will connect back to the rural India where people can make it and ship it to you. So there s also a social impact. You asked about cost before. The overall cost of this terminal is amongst the best in the world. We ve built a very efficient terminal. We have 4.4 million sqft, we handle 40 million, could go up to 45 million passengers. So if you actually calculate the sq m cost, and see the number of passengers we handle compared to, say, European airports, we are just 15 per cent of the cost. If you compare with Asian airports, we re just 35 per cent of the cost. Even if you take Terminal 3 in 06 Jan-Mar 2015

7 Cover Story Beijing, we re only 35 per cent of the cost. And even if you compare with Suvarnabhumi of Bangkok, we re only 50 per cent of the cost. For that matter, on a passenger-cost basis, compared to Delhi, we are 70 per cent of the cost. Anybody who comes and sees this terminal thinks that this must be very expensive, it is not. Mr G V Sanjay Reddy: GVK CSIA is a constrained airport,we can only cater to million passengers. Mumbai definitely needs another airport. Once the new airport comes up it will take all the supplementary traffic. One would always prefer GVK CSIA as it is located within the city and since airports are always about connectivity, this would be the first choice. Also, Mr Gupta: You have different aspects on different walls. And then you have your hall with a thousand chandeliers. Mr G V Sanjay Reddy: It s actually throughout the departure hall. We needed to create light, so we said why can t we actually create chandeliers? And if we create chandeliers, why can t we use the lotus flower? So the ambience of the terminal is very cool, calming, very Indian, it s unmistakably Indian. Dr GVK Reddy: One of the questions you were asking, How much it costs? I put the same thing to Rajeev Sethi He immediately said, Hold on There s a GO (Government Order) by the Government of India that in any public building, including airports, 2 per cent of the money has to be spent on art and culture. We ve not spent that much money. Mr G V Sanjay Reddy: It s from the 70s. Everyone forgot about it. The hall where we have more than 200 chandeliers is one of the areas where we have a lot of international traffic. It s a beautiful space. People say, The whole terminal looks like a lounge, so why do we really need to have any lounges? Everything looks and feels like a lounge. And the other day somebody mentioned that it s a very quiet, serene environment, like a spa. Airports are places where people are always very anxious. But this airport, we hope, will just calm people down and they ll enjoy and spend more time here. Mr Gupta: Who uses this airport after the inauguration? Mr G V Sanjay Reddy: The airport would be open to international passengers. Now the challenge is that once the operations start, we will gradually start demolishing the old international airport as that space would be used to create lot of aprons and aerobridges. Once that is complete, then lot of domestic operations would also shift at T2.Then it will become an integrated terminal that would be more preferable by passengers. Mr Gupta: But this rebuilt airport will not be enough for Mumbai? the infrastructural development for the new airport might take up lot of time... And now, the GVK Lounge at T2, CSIA is another jewel added to the crown. GVK CSIA T2 has opened the all new Luxury Lounge for its first/ business class travellers. This is the first ever common Luxury Lounge in the country, unlike other global and Indian airports, which usually have different first/ business class lounges for different airlines. With an area of 30,000 sq ft, the GVK Lounge showcases the rich Indian design and hospitality setting new global benchmarks. Spread across two levels, the GVK Lounge can hold up to 440 guests at any given point of time. GVK Lounge s innovative facilities and latest technologies in the form of Concierge Services, Smoking Zone, F&B, Bar, Luxury Spa, Shower Area, Relaxation Area, Library and a Business Centre resonate with MIAL s ideology of encouraging product, service and design innovation that enhances the overall ambience, design and architecture of the new T2. 11 Special Focus: In and Around Goindwal Sahib: In and Around From this issue we would like to take our readers to places of interest that are in and around our various projects. We start with the hallowed Goindwal Sahib Gurudwara, which is located a few minutes away from our Goindwal Sahib Thermal Power Project, and around 30 kilometres away from Amritsar in the state of Punjab. For any GVK-ite visiting our project, this Gurudwara should be on their must visit list. We request for similar such contributions from our colleagues across projects, along with photographs. We will publish their write ups along with their names and photos. Overall view of Goindwal Sahib TPP Goindwal Sahib is a beautiful town in the state of Punjab located about 23 km from Tarn Taran Sahib. This town has been a significant centre of pilgrimage for Sikhs since the 16th century. It is situated on the banks of the river Beas and is an important commercial centre for the district. Guru Amar Das worked for around 33 years in Goindwal to spread the teachings of Sikhism. The origin of the name Goindwal The town of Goindwal is located on an ancient east-west highway that crossed the river Beas connecting Delhi and Lahore and the head of the most important ferries on the same river. With the renovation of the highway by Sher Shah Suri, the Afghan ruler of North India ( ), this ferry site became an important transit point. This led a Goinda or Gonda, a Marvaha Khatri trader, to plan the set-up of habitation at the western end of the ferry. Thwarted by his endeavours due to natural calamities which he attributed to evil spirits, Goinda went to Khadur to seek Guru Angad s blessings and asked if either of the two Guru s sons starts living there, the superstition of the people regarding the evil spirits would vanish and the village would be inhabited. The Guru agreed to help Goinda and asked his devoted disciple, (Guru) Amar Das, to help Goinda. Bhai Amar Das, who knew that tract very well as he Jan-Mar

12 Special Focus: In and Around Gurudwara Goindwal Sahib and Baoli Sahib had been carrying the river water from this place to Khadur daily for his Master s ablutions, laid the foundation of Goinda s village which was then named after Goinda, Goindwal. The trader Goinda had a special place built in Goindwal to honor Guru Angad Dev. History Gurudwara Goindwal Sahib lies about 30 km from Amritsar city. The town is a hub of many well-known Gurudwaras but Goindwal Sahib is regarded as one of the greatest. The Gurudwara is a place of pride for Punjab and a popular pilgrimage destination. Goindwal is also the birthplace of the Sikh Guru, Guru Arjan Dev. Therefore, this place has supreme religious prominence for Sikhs across the world. Large numbers of tourists visit the Gurudwara of Goindwal Sahib to get the blessings of the divine. Historians reveal that once Emperor Akbar visited the Gurudwara and after meeting the Guru had Langar,the holy meal from the community kitchen. Construction of the Gurudwara Gurudwara Goindwal Sahib is the first Sikh pilgrimage which was set-up under the supervision of Shri Guru Amar Das ji in 1616 AD who stayed there for 33 years. A Baoli (step well), paved with 84 steps was constructed there. Guru Sahib blessed this place and decreed that by reciting Japji Sahib, the divine Word revealed to Guru Nanak Dev, with a pure heart at each of the 84 steps after taking a bath in the Baoli, would provide moksha i.e. liberation from 84,00,000 cycles of life of the world and unity with God i.e. mukti. Shri Guru Amar Das ji himself performed Seva of Shri Baoli Sahib. Goindwal is where Guru Amar Das met Guru Ram Das, the next Sikh Guru. Guru Arjan Dev was also born there on 15 April Therefore, the Gurudwara became the first center of Sikhism attracting people towards the religion and guiding them on the path of divinity and spirituality. Architecture Sikh architecture is clearly reflected in the intricate carvings of Gurudwara Goindwal Sahib. The wall of the Gurudwara reflects ancient Sikh history through the decorative murals found at the entrance. Gurudwara Goindwal Sahib is made up of white marble and it is located next to Baoli. It has a huge majestic dome, which is tipped with a gold pinnacle giving it a very opulent look. The projected windows, elliptical cornices, façade of turrets and four cupolas resembling the main dome in shape and structure are also clear reflections of Sikh architecture. 13 Recognition and Events Mr Sanjay Reddy addresses the CII Youth Leadership event Our Vice Chairman, Mr G V Sanjay Reddy who is also the Founding Chairman, Young Indians addressed the CII Youth Leadership event held in New Delhi. In his address, he highlighted that one should do his work silently and let the results make all the noise. The event also saw top speakers like Mr Kailash Satyarthi, recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize and Founder, Bachpan Bachao Andolan and Sunil Kant Munjal, Joint Managing Director, Hero Motocorp Ltd amongst others. GVK MIAL rated e-freight compliant by IATA GVK MIAL has been rated as e-freight compliant by International Air Transport Association (IATA) for adopting paperless initiatives at the air cargo operations in Mumbai. In 2006, IATA had launched the e-freight initiative with the endorsement of the members of the Global Air Cargo Advisory Group (GACAG). The objective behind e-freight is to replace paper from air cargo operations with the exchange of electronic data and messages. The e-freight compliance involves air carriers, freight forwarders, ground handlers, shippers and customs authorities to effectively streamline processes, cut costs and improve speed and reliability. GVK CSIA bags India s Best World Class Airport Award GVK CSIA has bagged the award for India s Best World Class Airport in Private Sector at the 2 nd Markenomy Awards 2015 India s award for Excellence in Sustainable, Clean and Green Infrastructure instituted by Markenomy The journal for Sustainable Infrastructure economy, organized by the publishers Falcon Media and supported by Enertia Foundation held at the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce Premises, Ahmedabad. GVK CSIA was recognisd as the second busiest airport in the country and ranked as the 48 th busiest airport in the world by Airport Council International in GVK CSIA was also acknowledged for handling a record 51 movements in an hour on 16 Sep Jan-Mar

14 Recognition and Events GVK CSIA receives Level 3 Optimisation accreditation GVK CSIA has received the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) Level 3 Optimisation by the International agency, Airport Council International (ACI). This significant honour recognizes GVK CSIA s focus on embracing environmentfriendly measures and working on reducing carbon emission levels. GVK CSIA earlier achieved ACA for Level 1 Mapping in 2012 and upgraded to Level 2 Reduction in 2013, which was renewed in With this latest recognition, GVK CSIA becomes one of the six airports in APAC (Asia-Pacific) and 23 across the globe to have received such an accreditation under this category. As part of the upgradation to ACA Level Optimisation, GVK CSIA widened the scope of carbon footprint to include third-party stakeholders and their respective emissions in order to ensure an overall check on the carbon emissions. Under this, activities related to airport landing and takeoff, staff business and office travel, passenger movement, ground support operational activities, electricity consumption, fuel consumption, etc. were optimised from a sustainability perspective and the resultant carbon emission data being independently verified by M/s. Bureau Veritas Certification India Pvt. Ltd. GVK KIA has been awarded the prestigious Best Regional Airport in Central Asia by SKYTRAX World Airport Awards 2015 held in Paris. The SKYTRAX World Airport Awards is the largest passenger satisfaction survey and the most prestigious among all the surveys measuring airport service excellence and quality. The World Airport Awards are based on million customer nominations across 112 nationalities of air travelers and included 550 airports worldwide. Regional Airports refers to the airports operating short international and domestic flights, rather than having a vast intercontinental network. Bengaluru has seen a significant increase in passenger traffic and growth due to the high-yield business traffic market and the inherent value proposition in catering to the business travelers and VFR (Visiting Friends and Relatives) market. Additionally, GVK BIAL has made consistent efforts to provide passengers with seamless inter-regional and intra-regional connectivity and introduce services that improve accessibility to other regions from the airport. In an effort to give impetus to intra-regional connectivity the airport in collaboration with KSRTC introduced Flybus in 2013 to connect passengers to Mysuru from the airport. Further, carriers like SpiceJet, IndiGo, Jet Airways, Air India and Air Costa have rapidly expanded in terms of new routes and frequencies offering the region with good connectivity. 15 Recognition and Events Chinese New Year celebrated at Ngurah Rai International Airport, Indonesia The Ngurah Rai International Airport terminal was decorated with Red Lanterns, Sakura Tree Anpao and other ornaments to mark the Chinese New Year celebrations. The decorations added to the fervor and lit up the ambience at the airport. The Chinese New Year celebrations lasted from Feb 2015 both at the international and the domestic terminal. Lion Dance performances greeted the passengers at the arrival terminals while the God of Money at the departures provided a good photo opportunity for the passengers who were greeted with the Angpau candy. The entire event lasted from 1 Feb -15 March Training at Goindwal Sahib TPP Goindwal Sahib TPP conducted training on PPE for its associates at the plant site. Personal Protective Equipment, commonly referred to as PPE, is the equipment worn to minimize exposure to serious workplace injuries and illnesses. These injuries may result from contact with physical, electrical, mechanical or other workplace hazards. 16 Recognition and Events GVK BIO co-hosts BioAsia 2015 GVK BIO co-hosted the 12 th edition of BioAsia - an annual convention which brings together the global industry leaders, researchers, policy makers, innovators, and investors to discuss the new opportunities in the global life sciences industry. Over 30 employees from GVK BIO attended the event. Mr Manni Kantipudi, CEO, was a guest panellist in the CEO Conclave hosted at the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad where he spoke about the key challenges faced by the Life science industry and future growth drivers. Known as First Responders, they play an active role in the life saving mission; be it calling for emergency medical help or providing first-aid to the victim before the ambulance arrives, etc. By virtue of their noble act, these First Responders qualify to become the Good Samaritans. Every year on 13 March, GVK EMRI observes Good Samaritan Day to encourage and honour these First Responders who contribute towards the lifesaving mission. This year, Dr. J. Radhakrishnan IAS, Secretary to Government, Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Tamil Nadu was the Chief Guest at the Good Samaritan Day celebrations at GVK EMRI wherein 40 Good Samaritans were honoured and a beneficiary was also present. 17 Project Updates GVK Hancock progresses GVK Hancock is fully committed towards continuing to work with the Government to advance its projects to a point where construction can commence and begin creating jobs for Queensland. GVK Hancock has received approvals for the expansion of the existing Abbot Point Port from the Palasczcuk Government. GVK Hancock has welcomed the proposal to locate dredged material onto unallocated industrial land within the Abbot Point Port boundaries in a manner that doesn t impact already attained approvals. GVK is committed towards funding the environmental approvals and welcomes the Government s actions to facilitate a process which gives proponents a clear line of sight to the end of an approvals process. GVK Hancock is fully committed towards continuing to work with the Government to advance its projects to a point where construction can commence and begin creating jobs for Queensland. The development of the Galilee Basin represents one of the most significant pieces of regional and economic developments the state has seen for decades and easily the most significant job creator on Queensland economic horizon. GVK Hancock s Galilee Basin projects and associated infrastructure will provide around 7,000 jobs during the three year construction and around 4,000 direct operational jobs during its 30 plus years of operation. 30 Special Feature Important Information on Swine Flu We are in the middle of an outbreak of Seasonal Influenza A (H1N1). The general public is encouraged to take precautions for prevention such as frequent washing of hands, covering up your coughs and sneezes with tissue paper, staying away from crowded places and from those showing symptoms of influenza and avoiding contact greetings etc. If one is having symptoms of Influenza, he or she should immediately visit the nearest health facility for early diagnosis and treatment. Take these everyday steps to protect your health Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after using it. Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol based hand cleaners are also effective. If one gets sick with influenza, one must stay at home, away from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth to keep germs away. Avoid close contact with people having respiratory illness. 31 Special Feature International Women s Day Special International Women s Day (IWD) is celebrated every year on 8 March across the world. It is a day when women are recognized for their achievements irrespective of their nationality, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political background. The day also recognizes women s efforts towards peace and development. It urges the countries to end discrimination and contribute towards women s economic and social development. The Govt of India has made significant efforts to improve conditions for girls by setting up schools. Support is also being provided in rural areas that has already helped narrow the gender gap. Useful healthcare tips Bone health A balanced diet rich in Calcium and Vitamin D like milk, yoghurt, green leafy vegetables. Adequate exposure to sunlight. Avoid smoking and excessive alcohol consumption. Engage in stress relieving activities like yoga, meditation and regular exercise. Mothers health and nutrition Pregnant women should take Iron rich foods such as meat, eggs, green peas, lentils and green leafy vegetables. Diet taken during pregnancy should be light, nutritious, easy to digest and rich in all essential nutrients. Preventing Breast Cancer Self-examination of breast is the simplest technique for early detection of breast cancer. It is advisable for women who are aged around 40 and 50 to get some simple tests including Pap smear and Mammography. Special care for Women... At GVK EMRI, over 11 lakh pregnant women are served through various programmes like 108, 102, 104, 181, MMU, IFT, NNT etc. Similarly, GVK EMRI serves over 62,000 female trauma emergencies; 35,000 unconscious female cases; 7,000 poisoning and drug overdose cases; 20,000 women cardiac cases; 25,000 respiratory emergencies and over 27,500 women suffering from acute fever related emergencies every year. Nearly 10,500 women who are assaulted and 7,500 women victims to animal bites are also served on an average every year.
