Council - Commercial Centre A shopping centre Create old town and new town feeling More commercial (zoned) land near Fresh Choice Shopping centre, activities on outskirts of town to stop blockages Commercial area option 3 would mean a nightmare for traffic and an eyesore for 1st impressions for Omokoroa Full consultation with community specifically re town centre. Position should be between Francis and Prole road Think the town centre should be on the empty land beside the Supermarket Establish a plan for a town centre between Prole road and SH2 Council - Reserves (General) Keep some of the greenspaces safe from alteration eg car parks, etc Clean weeds from reserve in Waterview Tree maintenance and mowing should be more regular Maintain and restore the few reserves we have Better upkeep (for) Lynley Park reserve More reserves and green spaces Keep reserves green areas Keep walkway open Keep existing reserves Identify further recreational resource areas to take pressure off waterfront Please keep remaining green spaces and enhance with trees not car parks Keep green spaces green and not have houses etc block access There s plenty of green land going to development, so look after what s left. Please use the spaces we have left to re-create reserves, green education spaces and play spaces Remove the Daytura tree from the Hamurana reserve Waterview Terrace. HEALTH HAZARD. Check ½ Margaret M/R Look after gifted land ie Gerald Crapp reserve without local reminders Scale up amenities and parks Litter awareness could be part of reserve community education / fun facilities Tobacco, ginger barbary, pampas to be removed from peninsula. Dogs to be on beach alongside Golf Club. Keep from chasing birds Not all dog owners are bad. We need some off lead areas. Don t punish the many good owners. Dogs on lead signs for new cycleway Maximum walkways and cycleways (another submitter) 2 nd that (plus 2 ticks) Keep lots of walkways Look at the Lakes - lots of reserves and walkways Walkway / cycleway around perimeter of peninsula some areas no accessibility at the moment More parks (just grass) More native areas
Council - Domain/Esplanade/Parking/Boat Ramp Protection mechanisms could be part of playground, community education project. Could create a space on the beach, going into the water Keep lullaby at beach playground Beachfront reserve; move bollards in so room for more parking on side A proper plan for the esplanade needs to be put into place ASAP. There will be fights on the boat ramp at this rate Better playground for children in Domain. We must have oldest playground equipment in NZ. Totally old fashioned. We need more modern playground New playground and slides and everything like msn Add family park and kayak access to point reserve picnic tables etc Keep waterfront iconic kiwi beach style How is the waterfront going to accommodate the increase of residents? Don t spoil the waterfront limit more expansion Preserve the beach area by controlling grass growth over the sand. The beach is getting less and less along the domain and esplanade. Height restriction on buildings near the beach Better control of dogs along the domain and esplanade. Many dogs are not on leads and out of control on domain beach All dogs on lead in Domain area. Pick up poo. Boat ramp needs to be widened next to existing ramp. Due to bigger community, more boats, = congestion at moment, no room for extra boats being launched Boat launching better all tide ramp more parking wider ramp Ban all camper caravans from boat trailer park. Put them in Cooney reserve Camper vans are not the problem. Cars parked over several days are where trailers should be Deal with parking at Domain. Long term Matakana parking elsewhere Parking is an issue. Better organising and enforcement needed. Extra parking needs to be addressed. Specific area allocated for Matakana residents. Running out of car boat trailer space. No room for picnickers. Parking needs to be freed up, the limits and policed. Boat trailer parking for boats and trailers only. Motor caravans limited to the stated rules. Max 3 vans etc Carpark for people leaving parked cars near the boat ramp all week when they go to Matakana island by ferry. More parking can be created along driveway to Sea Scouts hall Boat trailer carparking only at the carpark next to the store Increase carpark at Domain more at Crapps end of beach Restrict the number of motor homes parking on the esplanade. Better still have no vans parked in the car park. Parking for those going to Matakana needs sorting out. Cars are left on the esplanade all day by people going to Matakana Sort out cars parked for days whose owners have gone by ferry to the island Boat parking system lock/sticker system No more grass taken for parking on esplanade
Council - Precious Family Reserve Leave Precious alone Plant Precious reserve on Cooney land boundary Keep Precious bros reserve free from toilet, picnic tables, roadway, etc Please complete the walkway in the Precious reserve to the waters edge Keep the Precious reserve as it is to protect the native birds particularly the Godwits. Definitely no cars Create carparks at Precious reserve Create a dog training field eg in domain on precious park. Many people walk their dog on Precious reserve. Dogs chase birds (wildlife). Let dogs play in a fenced area. Good for dog and wildlife. Council - Cooney Reserve Communication with friends of Cooney as to wood control and eliminate destruction of trees in reserve. Toilets rubbish bins for Cooneys reserve Purchase land adjacent to Cooney reserve? For sale now Cooney reserve has room to extend down the right side of driveway Public toilet in Cooney reserve Why Were the heritage plum trees removed on the walkway near the Cooney reserve? Council - Trees Identify those native trees that will help provide food sources to pigeons and other threatened species and plant them along the new cycleway. Task OEMI with organising a community group to work with Council to plan plantings and ecological corridor aspects of Omokoroa section of new harbour edge cycleway Make sure plantings on the new cycleway are suitable to encourage indigenous wildlife Plant natives along new cycleway Environment protection should be a priority. Green land beaches trees Planting regenerating places for soil stability as sustainable green spaces and community education Trees. Replacement of trees ripped out by the developers. Bird corridors to the Kaimais Plant trees for the birds More trees. We need the birds back. Do the trees we are planting match the birds that are likely to come back? Plant bring back bird life Plant 3 trees for every tree removed recently for development Planting trees. Keep Omokoroa green. Preserve existing trees. Stop cutting all the trees down Why are developers allowed to remove all the trees? Council - Pool Swimming pool needed Swimming pool at this end of WBD Community pool
Council - Fences Protecting the view shaft. What is Council doing about this? Protect our built environment Restrict the height of fences. 2m is ridiculous. The community plan from 10 years ago stated framing, walls etc should be discreet and support our natural environment. Work with Council planners to reduce /ban fence heights from 2 m to lower fence heights Stop putting up huge fences. Limit height in certain areas Council - Rubbish/Recycling etc Transfer station possible white elephant eg Te Awamutu canned theirs. Recylcing centre stop trucking green waste off the peninsula. Mulch and sell here. As ratepayers we shouldn t have to go into Tauranga to recycle stuff. Recycling refuse center Waste recycle down Prole road Recycle other plastics 3+ not just 1 and 2 Recycle bins at reserves for glass cans and general rubbish Recycle bins like in French towns by domain playground chip shops More rubbish bins at the skateboard park what about more seats as well Dog s t bins with bags at each end of walkway Please place bins on many places for people to put dog poo bags in Bins everywhere for dog poo Litter awareness increase around shop and boat ramp domain More rubbish clean ups around community Council - Roads Skate path parking needs to come off Omokoroa Road kids will get skittled Parking New parking on Western Ave for skatepark - along hamurana Rd by school Skatepath parking only on Western Avenue Kaylene Place not wide enough for traffic volume Standard of the roads on the peninsula are very poor. Many need improving Widen Western Ave footpath, there are new subdivisions down there. Better road marking around school and no yellow no parking lines Speed camera on 60k zone on Omokoroa Raod All roads have safe footpath suitable for mobility scooters too. Please. Council - Library/Service Centre/Arts Community meeting place Facilities. We need an arts /cultural centre appropriate to the size and age profiles of our community. Settlers Hall is just not big enough. Art/library / culture/ police center on land adjacent to Fresh Choice supermarket Creation of arts facility Arts and craft centre
A place to make art please Council - General Community orchard gardens Set aside land for community sports facilities and secondary school land adjacent Sort the infrastructure before the sub divisions Household drainage compliance Off site payments from developers to help pay for infrastructure Sewerage for additional houses Slow down subdivision development until roading resources in place Lower rates Council - Slips Be proactive to sort coastal slipping issues now Mitigate slip issues very important Take care of the slips Deal to slips Fix the slips Mitigate slip issues Work with community groups of ratepayers especially around slip Make provision in the budget for the maintenance of the clifftop walkways, provide erosion protection/ mitigation and ensure that this important community asset is preserved. The amenity value is immense and the reason we live where we live. Retain walkway to Bramley Taking the weight out of the trees bordering the Omokoroa bowling club otherwise the bowling club will have only the top green Take weight our of cliff face Pohutukawa and other heavy trees Community Public art for all to enjoy, reflecting the area. A mural on the public toilet block ' (another comment) I agree More opportunity for youth activities Annual community swop and shop day Develop sporting pavilion within perhaps single level costs. Kitchen, toilets, changing rooms, large hall area, good parking area and facility for wheelchair access. Proper sports centre Drop in activities centre for teens. Add to sports pavilion Support of pavilion Fitness circuit for soccer ground/skatepark. Fitness circuit for Domain An outdoor gym in the domain for all to use (2 ticks) Petanque pitch at Domain Gym facilities
Tennis courts at Western Ave need to be fully available for public use not locked for club members only (Ratepayer funded) Security cameras for all reserves Equipment for all ages to exercise in like Kulim Park in Tauranga Active aging playground /gym similar to Kulim Park Tauranga Create old town and new town feeling Tobacco, ginger barbary, pampas to be removed from peninsula. Community education projects in the outdoors are part of playing Commercial Enterprises Dry cleaning facility in shopping centre The Omokoroa Omelette has ceased to exist due to slips. What is replacing it? We need a local free newspaper. Cellphone tower and fibre broadband (3 ticks) Cellphone reception improvement Cellphone tower near supermarket (one tick) Sort out cellphone tower for better mobile data Cellphone reception improvement 4G cellphone service for all Omokoroa. A safety issue!! Country tavern Good local pub/ restaurant needed. More young families moving in. We need a friendly country pub for the community Village pub please We do not need a country pub not enough (people) for boat club to open every night New Hire centre Water taxi to Mount Water taxi to Tga and Mt M (9 ticks) Ferry to Mount/Tauranga Seasonal commuter Reintroduce a regular ferry service from Tauranga to Omokoroa. Can relieve traffic on SH2 and carry bikes and riders when bike track is open for one way rides. Police Community Police officer to enforce poor vehicle driving in Omokoroa eg stopping at STOP signs at Tralee and hamu.road. Parking in bus stop outside swimming pool!!! Police. Need a police presence on the peninsula. Why should we not have regular support from law enforcement Security cameras for Omokoroa road Other Schooling. Police leisure. Transport. Reserves. Business. History. Art. Library. We are new in town. How do we find out what s on website? Community paper? Notice board? Support at home workers (good to see fibre coming)
Invoke formal protection mechanisms for harbour ecology/sea grass beds----(another comment) I second that No plastic bags at supermarkets or other shops anymore. Offer strong paper bags for small cost or encourage people to bring their own bags Stop polluting harbour with soil. use gabion cage to hold vulnerable soil Bird corridors to the Kaimais Access to off-road trails/forest park More public transport including school holidays NZ Transport Authority Another entrance to Omokoroa urgently Another road in and out of Omokoroa Access to SH2, put a roundabout in. its so dangerous there. Fix SH2 Lives over walkways Quick smart plan for SH2 intersection We need a roundabout at Omokoroa and Sh2 urgently or overpass SH2 let our kids get to school on time and safely What happens at intersection Omok/SH? Why double lanes going into traffic jam? SH2 sort out ASAP Fix SH2 asap Sort out SH2 Fix SH2 Push for faster upgrade SH2 Absolutely no roundabout at SH2. Need an overpass or something better. State highway upgrade right (down) to Pahoia NO round about at junction of Omokoroa road and SH2. Need an overpass and graded approach to 4 lane highway What is the point of 4 laning Omokoroa rd when SH2 is only 2 lanes? Pressure on NZTA to fast track SH2 upgrade Start underpass at SH2 / Omokoroa road tomorrow. Too much dithering / talking Sort SH2 Omokoroa to Tauranga to 4 lanes immediately Roading towards highway priority thinking ahead for traffic Ministry of Education Future planning for school primary through to secondary Need high school before another primary school (In child s writing) I think we could create a big school Secondary school combine intermediate and college Secondary school start build (2 ticks) Secondary school please Intermediate and secondary school School Plan land for a secondary school
A new high school now Provision for schooling We need to plan for a secondary school. Busing all the kids off the peninsula increases road traffic and reduces community spirit Our kids take 1 ¼ hours to get to school on the bus. A secondary school is needed now (2 ticks) New secondary school development should include a swimming pool Do a new high school High school Secondary school please New high school please Need a new highschool now before a primary
