9 P A G E 9 A U G U S T Telluride, Colorado - Ski Trip TELLURIDE A FLORIDA SKI COUNCIL TRIP: JANUARY 24 th to 31 st, 2015 Excerpts from the Epoch Times Surrounded by majestic peaks of the San Juan Mountains in Southwestern Colorado, Telluride is the most scenic ski resort in the West. The town is completely surrounded by vertical thirteen and fourteen thousand foot peaks and it is common to see groups posing at the top of every chairlift to take in the postcard view!!!! In a state with over thirty ski resorts, Telluride s terrain is easily one of the BEST!! What separates it from the other big name ski areas is the Telluride is a DESTINATION-ONLY RESORT. Its remote location nestled in the mountains between Denver and Phoenix places it out of reach for day visitors. The result is NO WATIING in lift lines and a greater sense of MOUNTAIN SOLITUDE. The mountain offers something for EVERY ABILITY LEVEL, including gentle beginner terrain and wide open, groomed intermediate runs. For experts, there s even more variety: bumps, tree skiing, powder, experts only hike-to-spots, freestyle terrain parks and steeps that will make even the most accomplished skier double check their confidence. A new lift to Kachina Peak is currently under construction, and will take cessful mining area with a storied GOLD RUSH past. After the mining days ended TELLURIDE was reinvented as a DESTINATION RESORT. Today the quaint town blends the charm of its WILD, WILD WEST past with a COSMOPOLITAN, yet unpretentious character. A FREE GONDOLA ride transports visitors from the historic town to the modern EUROPEAN- STYLED MOUNTAIN VILLAGE which houses the CONFERENCE CENTER and the world-renowned GOLDEN DOOR SPA. The two distinct areas create a healthy contrast between QUAINT OLD WEST CHARMS and modern amenities. Both areas are stocked with their own unique boutiques, galleries, coffee shops and restaurants. The Mountain Village provides the majority of lodging, while the town is the center of the nightlife scene.
