Ted Soliday was recognized as the Southeast Chapter AAAE Aviation Professional of the Year! He stated, Individuals do not get honors if their organization is not operating in an exceptional way. This is one more testimony to our motto: The Best Little Airport in the Country. A ROUND OF APPLAUSE PLEASE! In early April, the airport underwent our annual FAA airport inspection. Every year, Staff spends several weeks prior to the inspection preparing records, ensuring the airfield is in full compliance, etc. We passed the inspection with flying colors! THE SURVEY RESULTS ARE IN! The 2015 Professional Pilot FBO Survey, or PRASE survey (Preferences Regarding Aviation Services and Equipment), results are in. KAPF moved up five (5) places from the 2014 overall ranking (Best US FBO s), from 26 to 21! And, we moved up three (3) places from the 2014 Best Independent FBO s category, from 14 to 11!! The Pro Pilot subscribers scored FBO s in six (6) categories: Line Team, Customer Service Reps, Facility, Amenities, Promptness & Efficiency and Value for Price.

2 P A G E 2 NAA officially began utilizing the Hangar Wait List again in late The Shade Hangars are the only hangar type currently with no waiting list. If you are in need of a hangar, please visit our website at go to Airport Info/Hangar Leasing and print the Hangar Wait List application and Guidelines. Fill out the application and return it to HANGAR UPDATES Brett Naidenoff at NAA with the required $100 Hangar Wait List fee, per type hangar for which you are applying. Keep in mind that the larger hangars have a minimum wing span requirement, as noted on the Hangar Wait List application. Return it to Brett Naidenoff? Wait! What? Yes, that is SOMETHING NEW accurate! Brett works in Accounting and has recently taken over leasing... as in hangars/tiedowns/parking. Should you need anything leasing related, please contact him at , or simply send him an at bnaidenoff@flynaples.com. Due to the number of tenants/aircraft owners that contact the Operations Desk staff alerting them that they would like to approve another individual access to their hangar/aircraft, staff has come up with a short form that will now need to be completed by the tenant/ aircraft owner prior to us giving someone access to a hangar or aircraft. The form asks for information such as the tenant/ aircraft owner s name, the name of the authorized individual, how long the individual be given access, and reason for the access (check on hangar, fly aircraft, etc.). The form will be kept in a binder at the Operations Counter and filed by aircraft number. We feel this form will make this process much easier for everyone involved. We currently just add this information to our Pass-down Log, however, it could have been years ago an individual was given access, and it would take too long to peruse the logs (many years worth) to find the tenant/aircraft owner s name or the authorized individual s name. This will allow NAA staff to provide faster (and better) service to those authorized individuals than we ve been able to in the past. The form can be faxed or ed to the tenant/aircraft owner, and then faxed or ed back to us. Contact the Operations Desk at (then press 0 when the recording comes on) and ask for the form to be faxed or ed to you today. As soon as we receive the completed form, it will be placed in the binder and the authorized individual will be all set.

3 P A G E 3 At a recent Board meeting, Ted Soliday stated that his last day at the City of Naples Airport Authority would be 15 April Say it isn t so, Ted! Say it isn t so! BLOOD DRIVES HAVE BEEN SCHEDULED CAN YOU HELP? Someone in Collier County needs blood every 30 seconds so it is impossible to collect too much blood. And with fewer residents here in the summertime, giving blood becomes crucial. THINGS TO KNOW In our last newsletter, we reported that the City of Naples Airport Authority Board of Commissioners authorized Ted Soliday to begin negotiations with Sixel Consulting Group, Inc. on a scope of services and fees for a commercial air service study. Working with a consultant would help us decide if commercial service should remain a priority. A phone survey commissioned by the City of Naples Airport Authority was conducted during five days in late April to measure potential support of residents for scheduled commercial airline service at Naples Municipal Airport, and the survey results were presented at the Air Service Development Study Group Meeting held on May 14 th. The update provided at the Regular Board Meeting on 21 May was that the Commercial Air Service Development Study Group will proceed with stakeholder focus groups. We will keep you apprised of any new developments of the air service study. 4 P A G E 4 *Hangars are NOT wind rated for any specific category of storm. *Tenants should have two (2) destinations for their aircraft in the event of a storm. Contact alternate FBO s early in the season to arrange for space. *Plan to leave at least 48 hours prior to the storm force winds. If you leave your vehicle in the hangar, please leave the keys at the Customer Service Desk. *Plastic zip-tie straps will be put on all mechanical hangar door locks so they don t rattle loose with the high winds. *All gates/card readers will be inoperable, as well as our HURRICANE HELPFUL HINTS telephone system, when the airport loses electricity. Do NOT come out to the airport after a storm to check on things. *Please do some spring cleaning and keep your leasehold area clean and free of anything that can blow around. *Tenants with T-Shelters should remove equipment boxes from the posts in the event of a hurricane. *It is our practice to clear the ramp of all aircraft prior to a storm. We will utilize any empty hangar during the storm in order to minimize the damage to aircraft, our buildings and tenant leaseholds. *Please remember that our staff needs to prepare their homes too, and things that normally occur in a timely fashion may take a bit longer just prior to or after a storm. UPDATES FYI Now that our busy season is over, we should be able to send out newsletters/updates on a regular basis. We ll bring you up-to-date on new things, old things, changes, exciting news, etc. RWY 14/32 Rehabilitation Connector paving was moved to mid-april to avoid any conflict with the Part 139 inspection, with final striping 30 days later. This will coincide with the completion of the Runway Safety Area project.

5 P A G E 5 UPDATES, continued West Quad Pond The purpose of this project is additional filtering and cleaning of airport runoff prior to entering the Gordon River and the elimination of the year round wet canal beside the grass strip. The canal had become a wildlife attractant. Pond excavation is complete with the exception of the opening of the outfall. The outfall will be opened once all stabilization measures are in place to prevent any siltation into the Gordon River. Rip rap rock will be placed around the pond, followed by planting approximately 2250 native plants around the perimeter of the pond. With the rip rap installed, the contractor can finish the lookout gazebo on the western end of the boardwalk. The final part to the project is the widening of the trail to the standard pathways width of 12 feet. Work was scheduled for completion by the end of May. Lightning Prediction System Due to the upcoming rainy/lightning season, staff has added a new safety measure to help inform flight crews/passengers of the potential for lightning during inclement weather. The airport has been using the ThorGuard Lightning Prediction System for approximately one (1) year and this new enhancement adds an additional strobe and sign on the ramp side entrance/exit of the GA Terminal, when the system has been activated.
