1 SAFETY AND AIRSPACE REGULATION GROUP ACTIVITY No January 2014 See Distribution INTRODUCTION AIRSPACE CO-ORDINATION NOTICE LONDON CITY ILS RWYs 09 AND 27 FLIGHT CHECKS 1. SARG has agreed the following measures with the organiser and airspace controlling authorities to accommodate the subject Unusual Aerial Activity. This ACN replaces ACN , which may now be destroyed ACTIVITY 2. Flight checks of London City Airport ILS Runways 09 and 27. DATES 3. As required - This ACN is valid until further notice. TIMES 4. As required. Calibration may take between 2½ and 3½ hours. VERTICAL LIMITS 5. Up to 3,000 ft above aerodrome elevation (3019 ft QNH). CO-ORDINATES OF AREA OR EVENT 6. The aircraft will operate within the confines of the areas shown at Annexes A and B. OPERATING AUTHORITY OR SPONSOR 7. The following authority will act as sponsor for this event. a. 2 ACN CONTROL AUTHORITIES 8. The following authorities will provide control for this event: a. LTC (Swanwick), Group Supervisor Airports. Tel: b. London City Airport ATC Watch Supervisor. Tel: c. Heathrow Airport ATC Watch Manager. Tel: d. Southend Airport ATC Watch Supervisor AIRCRAFT Tel: The calibration will be conducted by a Navajo PA31. CO-ORDINATION ARRANGEMENTS 10. Operating Authority. a. ACN must be quoted in all instances. b. RWY 09 calibration if Heathrow are expected to be on easterly operations at the time of the calibration, then LTC (Swanwick) will request that the flight be deferred until Heathrow operations are westerly. However, if such a course of action is likely to mean that the RWY 09 ILS will be out of certification (as advised by the aircraft captain), then the flight must be accepted and afforded Flight Priority E. In this situation, notwithstanding the priority, every effort must be made to undertake the calibration at a time that has the least impact on the operation of Heathrow. c. Five working days before activating this ACN, the sponsor/aircraft captain must contact the following to discuss the implications of forthcoming sorties: (1) London City Airport Manager Air Traffic Services. On the day of calibration, the aircraft captain must telephone the LTC (Swanwick), Group Supervisor Airports, London City ATC Watch Supervisor, London Heathrow ATC Watch Manager and Southend ATC Watch Supervisor to discuss the tactical details. e. The aircraft must remain outside the London TMA, unless prior co-ordination has taken place and the aircraft receives a clearance to enter. f. Whilst flying in the vicinity of Southend, the aircraft captain is requested to maintain radio contact with Southend ATC. A LARS service is available refer to aeronautical publications for hours of service. g. It is the responsibility of the aircraft captain/sponsor to obtain clearance into/suppression of Danger/ Prohibited/ Restricted Areas affected by the activity. 11. ATC Authorities: a. ATC agencies are asked to provide priority handling whenever possible, but the sponsor/ aircraft captain must be prepared to accept deviations/ holds where necessary. AERONAUTICAL PUBLICATIONS 12. The following documentation will be relevant: a. Airspace Regulation (Utilisation) will not issue a NOTAM for this activity b. This ACN replaces ACN , which may now be destroyed. AMENDMENT ACTION 13.
