To get the best experience with our airline there are a few things worth knowing about. This interactive tutorial will guide you through the essential stuff to get you started in no time at all. 4 Boost your career by taking an exam go back There are different exams available from our exam center. By passing an exam you earn an award, which counts toward your career. When you pass a "type rating" exam, you earn 25% more when flying with the corresponding aircraft.

5 Use ACARS software for your convenience ACARS stands for Aircraft Communication Adressing and Reporting System. In real aviation, it's a system that communicates with the airline via radiolink about the general status of the aircraft. In our case, it's a software that runs next to your flight simulator and communicates with our "headquarters". This way, your flight is visible on a map on our website, and at the end of the flight it automatically files your PIREP (pilot report). This takes the hassle out of flying for a VA, and some systems even record your landing rate. From the following options, select the one that best describes your situation: I use Microsoft Flight Simulator: ACARS for MSFS I use flightgear and/or VATsim: Tracking config I use xplane or MSFS with Xacars Xacars config Back to pilot center

6 Setting up ACARS for MS Flight simulator European Virtual Airlines recommends the use of kacars. It's easy to set up and records your landing rate - this gives an indication of how well you land. There is a write-up on how to download, install and configure kacars on our community forum. It takes about minutes, and you're ready to go. show me If you already use another ACARS system, you can configure it to work with EVA. You can download config files for Xacars, FS Flightkeeper, FSacars and FSPax from your pilot center. 7 Setting up ACARS for MS Flight simulator Pilots who fly with X-plane (on any operating system) can use Xacars for flight tracking. Xacars is also available for Microsoft Flight Simulator For a quick write-up about installation and configuration, click on the arrow show me Back to ACARS

8 Flight tracking with Flightgear European Virtual Airlines has no ACARS system for Flightgear, but you can track your flights on the mpserver. It's very easy to set up: on the last page of your flightgear launcher, enable multiplayer, and enter mpserver01.flightgear.org as a hostname. The inbound and outbound ports are Your callsign should be the username/callsign assigned to you by EVA e.g. EUR020. You can also configure flightgear to work with VATsim, click here fore more info. Flight tracking with VATSIM If you have an account on VATsim and you want to fly on VATsim for EVA, you can track your flights on the website. Your callsign should be the username/callsign assigned to you by EVA, e.g. EUR020 To get an award for flying on VATSIM, you should enter the vataware tracker URL as a comment on your pilot report. 10 Once you hit the search button on the home page, you will arrive at the search results page. At the top of this page (not displayed here) you find the UTC clock and a few simple rules about timekeeping. You can also refine your search. The perpetual question: where to fly? Find your next destination in 3 easy steps Optional step: select an aircraft Step 3: Review search results Step 2: Click the search button Step 1: Select origin and/or destination. If both are the same, a list of all flights to and from the airport is displayed. Leave blank to show all schedules. 11 Information about a scheduled flight Basic facts about the flight. Scheduled flights can start 15 minutes early but no later than the arrival time. All times are block times. Scheduled flights must be flown with the specified aircraft or an alternative. See the fleet page for more info Click this link to bid on the flight METAR weather info for origin and destination. You get full decoded metars on the briefing A graph about how often a particular schedule is flown. If this is empty, you may be the first one! If you click on view details on the search results, you'll get this page. It provides basic facts about the flight, weather information, schedule frequency and a map. To fly,

12 Become an aviation entrepreneur with EVA charters Step 1: Select the airport you want to fly from and click the button. Step 3: Review available cargo and/or passengers. Step 2: Select an aircraft. Aircraft data and limitations will be displayed below. Deliver before this deadline You can load multiple items, but don't overload the aircraft. Step 6: to load the selected items, click this button Step 4: Select the destination from the listbox for each item you want to take Step 5: Enter the amount(s) you want to transport, but beware of the aircraft limitations (seats, weights) With our charter system, you are the boss! Choose your favourite aircraft and load it with cargo and/or passengers. If you load your aircraft wisely, you get 5% of the profit - that's usually much more than your hourly rate. If you make a loss, your hourly rate gets deducted.

13 NB: Please keep an eye on your MTOW: If you fly near your aircraft range, you may not get off the ground if you fuel them up and pack them with cargo and pax. The decision is for the captain. Yes, that'll be you! Become an aviation entrepreneur with EVA charters Now that you've decided where you want to fly, and in what aircraft, it's time to review your choices and make sure the flight is profitable. Your main expense will be fuel, so it's worth to check out Fuel costs are displayed in the warehouse, generally its 3.10 euro/lb This is what you loaded This is the weight of your load Click this button to go back to the warehouse and change your load this is your origin and destination(s) Deliver by this deadline. If you're late, you don't get paid This is the gross revenue, ie before expenses Click this button to finish loading and start the preflight briefing In this case, the estimated fuel usage is lb, which will cost ~ euro. Even after you add another 1000 for airport fees, the flight makes nearly 100k, of which you'll get 5%.

14 The pilot briefing page: your pre-flight checklist Congratulations, you have bid on a flight. It's reserved for you for 24 hours, and we do expect you to fly it. If you are unable to do so, you may cancel your bid - We'll explain that later. First we have a look at the pilot briefing page: your preflight checklist! Basic facts about the flight Click to see decoded METAR weather info for origin and destination. Click these links for airport charts of your origin and destination airports. The use of airport charts is totally optional. We have done our best to provide up-to-date charts, but they may not match the scenery you have installed. In case of doubt, check the map in your sim. continu e

15 The pilot briefing page: your pre-flight checklist Plan your flight route with the routefinder. Simply enter the ICAO codes in the respective fields and click find route Sometimes the routeplanner doesn't have a SID or STAR for your airport. If no route is found, disable one of these. If you fly over the Atlantic ocean, you may want to enable North Atlantic Tracks. If your airplane has an outdated AIRAC (waypoint database) you may select an old version here. Otherwise, your plane may not know the waypoints provided by the routeplanner Calculate fuel consumption with this external website. The route finder and fuel planner are external websites, and therefore outside our control. It's use is entirely optional and at your own risk. Common sense must always prevail! continu e

16 Bids and bobs: how to manage your bids Once you clicked on "ad bid" on a scheduled flight, or you proceeded to briefing for a charter, you have bid on that flight: it is now reserved for you and we expect you to fly it within 24 hours. You can review or remove your bid(s) at the "view bids" page: To see the flights you have bid on, hover over the pilot center link and click on view bids If you don't use ACARS, click on File Pirep to file your pilot report manually. Like this, most fields will be preset There shouldn't be more than two entries in this list. If there are, remove one or more flights so others can bid on them. To see the pilot brief for this flight, click pilot brief To remove your bid, click this link more about charter flights more about scheduled flights As you may know, there are two ways of flying for EVA: chartered and scheduled.
