2 BESLUITE UIT DIE RAADSAAL OOGKUNDIGE PRAKTYK Die Raad het die onderverdeling van erf 1514, Hentiesbaai aanbeveel vir die skepping van 'n bykomende erf vir die vestiging van 'n oogkundige praktyk. Die praktyk sal aanliggend geleë wees langs Beli Deli. Konstruksie van die gebou word in die vooruitsig gestel vir Februarie **************************************************************************************************** WATERGLYBAAN Die waterglybaan in die vallei is toegeken aan nuwe huurders. Verbeteringe vir die struktuur het reeds begin en die vertroue word uitgespreek dat die publiek en vakansiegangers die perseel sal gebruik. Die huurders het geen moeite en geld ontsien om die perseel en glybaanstruktuur te beveilig en gerieflik te maak vir besoekers. **************************************************************************************************** ELEKTRISITEITSNETWERK Grond op die Noord Duin is verkoop aan Erongo Red vir die opgradering van die interne elektrisiteitsnetwerk aldaar wat ook ten doel het om die ringnetwerk te voltooi. **************************************************************************************************** HERWAARDASIES Die herwaardasie van vaste eiendom nader nou voltooing en sal die Rol sekerlik teen Januarie 2011 ter insae lê vir inspeksie. Erf eienaars word ten sterkste aangeraai om die Rol te besigtig, en kennis te neem van die waardasie(s) toegeken per afsonderlike eiendom. Kennisgewings sal in die gedrukte media geplaas word wanneer die Rol beskikbaar sal wees vir insae. Die Raad ondersoek ook metodes om nieinwonende erfeienaars, wie nie insae sal hê tot die Rol, in kennis te stel van hul toegekende waardasies. **************************************************************************************************** CAPITAL PROJECTS During the period 2009/2010 N$10,05 million was expended under Phase II of the Vacuum Sewer System for Henties Bay. Only Five erven were developed the of which each improvement value varied between N$ to N$ The dwelling consists of 1 bedroom, kitchen and toilet. The Ministry of Regional, Local Government and Housing and Rural Development in collaboration with the Henties Bay Municipality replaced worn out corrugation sheets. Nine (9) beneficiaries whose loans were redeemed benefitted from the programme.

4 COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT 24th August Regional Aids Co-ordinator, Ms Kleria Autanga and Mr. Honeb from Medicos del Mundo's visit for an Outreach Program Workshop for Improving the involvement of Church Leaders in the fight against HIV/AIDS 5th September Officials of Medicos del Mundo are now finalizing their project: Transformation of information on the prevention of HIV/AIDS in the Erongo & Kunene Regions. A Drama Scene done by the Henties Bay Youth were introduced to a Spanish Film Team and Officials for producing a film and CD, which is the end of the Medicos del Mundo project. We have to say Goodbye now to the officials of Medicos del Mundo who are closing down their offices end November 2010, and say thank you for your support during the eight years and wish you all the best for new challenges. 25th September, International Beach Clean Up Day Organized by NACOMA, Ministry of Fisheries & Marine Resources and sponsored by the Coastal Municipalities, Plastic Packaging, Namibia Breweries, etc. 25O grade 6-10 learners of the Kamwandi Junior Secondary School were participating in the clean-up operation from Solitude to the Omaruru River mouth, under the control of about 10 teachers. The collection of garbage were assisted by two municipal trucks and their drivers. The learners were issued with plastic bags and gloves and their thirst was quenched by cool-drinks sponsored by Namibian Breweries, as well as a snack. The participating schools were rewarded a prize money of N$ sponsored by NACOMA. Public Meeting 15th August A public meeting was held opposite Anmire Bar on the 15th August. Councillors requested more community involvement and two committees were established for the control and to minimize social problems.

5 Strategic & Operational Planning 17th September A workshop on Strategic and Operational Planning facilitated by two Officials of the Windhoek Municipality. The Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Windhoek and the Municipality of Henties Bay will be finalized. The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Honourable Loide Kasingo visiting Henties Bay on a familiarizing tour to the Erongo Region, on 17/8/2010. The aim was to bring the people closer to parliament. ANGLING - INTERNATIONALS AT HENTIES BAY The Ladies President teams of South Africa and Namibia will compete from 1-4 December 2010 with Henties Bay as main base. There will be 25 persons involved. The international angling championships between South Africa and Namibia will be held during 5-10 December 2010 with Henties Bay as the main base. There will be junior, senior and master teams, 70 anglers and officials in total. FIREWORKS ARE ONLY PERMITTED IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS South Dune: Between Extension 10 and Solitude North dune: Between the last house and UNAM NO QUAD BIKES ARE ALLOWED ON DUNES IN BETWEEN HOUSES AND BEACH AREA IN FRONT OF RESIDENTIAL AREAS NO QUAD BIKES ARE ALLOWED ANYWHERE NORTH OF THE OMARURU RIVER! 6 TOURISM/TOERISME he Henties Bay Tourist Information Office has recently moved from its previous location at the Total Service TStation to the SME Centre where the tourism officer attempted to create a tourism centre with a variety of services to visitors. The tourist information service provides a vast amount of information about the Henties Bay environs such as information booklets of the various 4x4 routes that has over the past ten years become very popular with visitors. Due to popular demand the Henties Bay Tourist Association had a map compiled with satellite imaging and GPS coordinates of all the 4x4 routes in the vicinity and is now available at the centre. Conservation of the environment is specifically emphasized and a photo display shows the damage by reckless off-road driving with an appeal to all visitors to help protect the desert environment and to stop pollution, especially on the beach. The book kiosk of the Henties Bay Tourism Association provides a variety of maps such as the very popular Tracks for Africa map for Namibia as well as Botswana, road maps, useful books about the Henties Bay environs and Namibia, post cards and stickers as well as the beautiful 2011 calender - Namibia...The Last Wilderness. Various kiosks offer art work, crafts and home produce, ideal as a Christmas present or a souvenir from Henties Bay. The centre also offers a coffee shop and neat toilet facilities, ideal for the weary traveller to take a welcome breather while getting informed of what Henties Bay and the Erongo Region has to offer. HENTIES BAY TOURISM STREET MAP The Henties Bay Tourism Street Map has been updated and the brand new map is now available at the Tourism Centre. The map has on the one side a street map where the most important services are indicated with a list of service providers, categorized, numbered and colour-coded for easy identification. It includes advertisements by various service providers, also numbered to correspond with the listing. On the back side is an angling map with the most popular angling spots, indicated with GPS coordinates and/or distance in kilometers.
