3 Itinerary in Detail DAYS 1-3: KRUGER NATIONAL PARK, SABI SANDS RESERVE Arrive at the Skukuza Airport in the heart of the Kruger where you ll be met by staff of Nottens Bush Camp. Your home for the next 3 nights is within the Sabi Sand Reserve, a 65,000 hectare premier wildlife reserve where you ll enjoy game viewing for the Big 5 on safari game drives and guided bush walks. This area is particularly well known for amazing leopard sightings. The Sabi and Sand rivers run through the reserve and draw in wildlife to drink during the parched dry season. No fences separate the Sabi Sand Reserve from the Kruger National Park, allowing wildlife to roam freely. Due to long-standing conservation practices and ample water sources the Sabi Sand Reserve has the highest recorded density of big game in South Africa. Vehicle traffic is at a minimum due to the private nature of the reserve and sightings are deftly controlled by highly experienced wildlife guides, maximizing the exclusivity of wildlife encounters. Nottens Bush Camp is a family run safari lodge in a 6,000 hectare private concession in the southern Sabi Sand Reserve. Set under shady trees, Nottens has extensive views out to an open grass plain and waterhole in the front and the African bushveld in the back. Safaris are led by experienced rangers in open-top land rovers, offering an adventurous discovery of the region s prolific wildlife, including Big Five game viewing. Unique walking safaris are offered daily giving guest the opportunity of discovering the hidden treasures of the region. This can be followed by lazy hours spent in the sparkling pool or having a massage at the Nature Spa. 4 DAY 4: FLY TO CAPE TOWN Depart the bush in the late morning on a direct flight into Cape Town (not included). Upon arrival you ll be greeted by our friendly local guide Doug Thompson and introduced to this colorful and charismatic city at the Southern tip of the African continent. Doug will plug you in to the best areas of the city and give you an optional agenda for the rest of your afternoon. Check in at the boutique Cape Cadogan Hotel, located adjacent to the popular Kloof Street with its many cafes, restaurants and bars. [B] DAY 5: CAPE PENINSULA, GROOT CONSTANTIA WINE ESTATE AND KIRSTENBOSCH GARDENS This full day of exploration showcases the amazing coastline of the Cape Peninsula and the unique floral kingdom known as fynbos. Drive down the stunning Atlantic coastline stopping to photograph and walk along the white sands of Noordhoek Beach and among hamlets on the Atlantic Coast. A walk to the old lighthouse in the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve yields spectacular views of False Bay and possible sightings of Southern Right Whales that congregate to mate and calve (July - November). A scrumptious lunch will be served up with wine tastings at the most historic wine farm in the Cape Region, Groot Constantia. Its roots date back to the late 17 th century when Simon van der Stel recognized the potential of the terroir and introduced the first Muscat grapes to South Africa. Walk through the hillsides of this sprawling wine farm with views out on to False Bay. Round out the day with a visit to the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens for a magnificent display of native Cape flora. 5 DAY 6: TABLE MOUNTAIN, CITY AND GUGULETU TOUR Start the day with a journey on the cable car that takes under 5 minutes to reach the summit of Table Mountain, 3400 feet above sea level. Once at the top, views of the city and surrounds are spectacular. There is plenty of time to walk around, explore the various nature trails or just enjoy the view. In the afternoon get an introduction to the city including the Malay Quarter, Houses of Parliament and a walk through the old Town Square bustling with the market traders. As invited guests we visit the township of Guguletu hosted by the local community that initiated this project to share their personal history, lively music, and their hopes and aspirations. Overnight Cape Cadogan. [BL] DAYS 7-9: BOTSWANA, CHOBE ENCLAVE/LINYANTI Depart Cape Town this morning on a direct flight to Maun, Botswana (flight operates every Thursday and Sunday, not included). Connect with a scenic flight (included) north to the western boundary of Chobe National Park in the Chobe Enclave, where upon arrival you ll immediately begin your safari experience. As the only source of water in the dry months, the Linyanti marshes are one of the most sought after destinations in Northern Botswana, boasting a great diversity of game and a peaceful atmosphere. Large herds of elephants move down into the Linyanti River at the start of the winter months (May Oct) and only head back inland once the main rains arrive. Lion, sable, roan, leopard, and most recently a breeding pack of wild dog, are also frequent visitors to Linyanti as is the elusive sitatunga antelope, red lechwe, hippo and crocodile. Your camp is small and exclusive, limited to 6-8 travelers who seek a personalized experience in a private concession away from the main tourist s routes. A master safari guide with years of experience will lead you on a variety of activities from the camp including game drives, walking safaris, game viewing from hides, spot-lighting, bird watching, boating and fishing safaris as well as guided mokoro safaris. The walking safaris maintain the elegance and eccentricity of the original under canvas African safari, with an emphasis on exploring Botswana s breathtakingly beautiful and diverse environment as the first African explorers did. [BLD] DAYS 10-12: BOTSWANA, OKAVANGO DELTA Continue your exploration of Northern Botswana with a scenic flight over the stretching fingers of the Okavango Delta. Arrive at your deluxe tented camp, nestled on a lush palm island the heart of the Okavango Delta. The private Shinde Concession has numerous intermingling habitats making it a wildlife area with boundless opportunities. A deepwater channel runs immediately in front of camp, offering excellent birding as well as a day time sanctuary for hippos and thirsty elephants. To the back of camp is broad grassland mixed with miombo and riparian forests which plays host to numerous species and offers superb wildlife sighting opportunities all year long by land or water. -5-

6 Because of its location in the Delta, Shinde offers both water and land activities year round. Boat and mokoro safaris provide a chance to experience the incredible bird, plant, and reptile species found in the aquatic habitat of the Okavango Delta. Game drives and game walks are offered as well as night drives with a spotlight. Ask about fishing (Mar-Dec) for a variety of species such as tilapia and tigerfish. In the evenings retire to your five star camp s spacious deck where a fireside chair is the perfect location for enjoying a sundowner and retelling the day s events. 9 Accommodations NOTTEN S BUSH CAMP, SABI SAND GAME RESERVE Notten s Bush Camp is a jewel within the heart of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. An exclusive and private safari lodge personally run by the Notten family, this beautiful, intimate safari lodge is situated within one of South Africa s finest natural sanctuaries - the Sabi Sand Reserve and Greater Kruger National Park. It has a multi-tiered dining room and lounge, set under canvas amongst the shade of ebony and mangosteen trees. Shinde comprises eight twinbedded classic safari tents, each with en-suite bathrooms, hot and cold running water and flush toilet.
