2 Itinerary Overview Begin your new life together with a safari through the wilds of the hidden jewel of Africa: Zambia. Two nights are spent nestled in an open-plan house on the banks of the Zambezi River with a visit to the Victoria Falls. Fly to the remote Lower Zambezi National Park for a stay under canvas at a deluxe tented camp. Fill your days with relaxation or activity; explore the wilderness on game drives, nature walks, and night drives in areas teeming with diverse species. Conclude your journey in the wildlife-rich river valley of South Luangwa National Park. Game drives by day and night with expert wildlife guides reveal an astonishing amount of wildlife with regular predator sightings. At each camp there is plenty of time for R&R (rest and romance) while exploring the vast wilderness of Zambia. 3 Itinerary in Detail DAYS 1-2: ARRIVE VICTORIA FALLS, LIVINGSTONE Arrive into Livingstone Airport where you will be met after passing through customs. Your afternoon is free to watch the Zambezi River flow by from Toka Leya Camp and recover from the long journey to Africa. On Day 2 you have a choice of activities including a visit to the Victoria Falls on the Zambia side, a Zambezi River cruise, tour of Livingstone town, or a game drive in Mosi oa Tunya National Park. For the more adventurous consider rafting on the Class V Zambezi River, jet boating, bungee jumping, an elephant-back safari, or one of the many other adrenaline-inducing activities available in the area (these activities at your own risk and not included). Two nights at Toka Leya. [D on day 1, on Day 2] DAYS 3-5: KALAMU LAGOON CAMP, SOUTH LUANGWA Depart Livingstone this morning for your flight to Lusaka connecting to a second flight to the South Luangwa National Park. Located in Eastern Zambia, the South Luangwa covers an incredible 3500 sq miles, making it larger than the US s Yellowstone National Park. It was founded as a game reserve in 1938 and was designated as a National Park in The highest concentration of wildlife is the Luangwa River and its rich vegetation. There are herds of elephant and buffalo, as well as dominant antelope species such as impala and puku. Other antelope include common waterbuck, bushbuck, eland, kudu, grysbok, oribi, reedbuck, Lichtenstein's hartebeest, sable and roan. Species such as Thornicroft's giraffe and Cookson's wildebeest occur nowhere else in the world and the area's leopard viewing is legendary. The main predators are lion, leopard, spotted hyaena and wild dogs. The dry season along the Luangwa River - when all game is forced to congregate along its banks as water resources dwindle elsewhere - is an experience every Africa fan should indulge in. Highdensity hippo populations dot the riverbanks while yellow baboon provide a contrast to their southern cousins. Stay at Kalamu Lagoon Camp, located in the Luamfwa Concession in the wild and uncrowded (with people that is!) southern sector of the Park. Whereas for the most part the Luangwa River forms the eastern boundary of the National Park, separating the protected area from communal land and game management areas, in the remote southern sector it meanders westward and both banks are protected. It is here that our camp can be found, on sites that are situated on the banks of the Luangwa River in a unique section of this exceptional Park, imparting a feeling of remoteness and exclusivity. South Luangwa is renowned as the best walking destination in Africa and guests have the choice to explore the Luangwa riverine vegetation and adjacent dambos on guided walks. Other activities include day-and-night wildlife-viewing drives. Overnight for three nights at Kalamu Lagoon Camp. [] DAYS 6-8: LOWER ZAMBEZI Fly on a scheduled charter flight to Lower Zambezi National Park, an extremely remote area with abundant and varied wildlife. Along the banks of the Zambezi and in ancient oxbow lakes, there are bountiful populations of elephant, lion, buffalo, waterbuck, leopard, hyena, zebra, various gazelle and many bird species. The Lower Zambezi National Park has 75 miles of Zambezi River frontage. Its distinguishing features are the rugged escarpment to the north, the river itself, and its numerous islands, lagoons and floodplains, which attract most of the wildlife. There are approximately 50 mammal species and 400 bird species which thrive in the Park, as well as a wide variety of spectacular trees, grasses and flowers. Visitors to the Park are thus assured of seeing very little human activity. With lion, leopard, vast herds of elephant and buffalo, prolific hippo, gigantic baobab trees and magnificent stands of acacia, the Lower Zambezi National Park and has become one of Africa's most exclusive safari destinations. 6 Photo by Mike Myers Accommodations TOKA LEYA CAMP, VICTORIA FALLS, ZAMBIA Overlooking the mighty Zambezi River and some of its islands, under a shady canopy of jackalberry and waterberry trees lays Toka Leya. The camp consists of 12 safari-style tents, each with a view of the magnificent Zambezi River and some of its islands. The tents are completed by ensuite bathrooms with an indoor and outdoor shower. The camp's dining and bar area is set beneath a shaded canopy of trees overlooking the River and a swimming pool. Activities include a tour of the Victoria Falls on the Zambian side, game drives within Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, river cruises and guided nature walks. KALAMU LAGOON CAMP, SOUTH LUANGWA Accommodation consists of eight safari-style reed and canvas tents, each en-suite with both an indoor and outdoor shower. The camp's dining and bar area under a canopy of giant ebony trees and a pool and viewing deck area located to the side of the camp all offer spectacular views of the lagoon that may once have been part of the South Luangwa River. CHIAWA CAMP, NORTH LUANGWA Resting on the banks of the Zambezi River, Chiawa Camp holds a prime position in the heart of the Zambia s Lower Zambezi National Park. The nine comfortable, Superior Tents have excellent views of the Zambezi River and are all accommodated with en suite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers and elegantly designed with an Old Africa safari style with modern conveniences. The thatched lounge and bar area offers an elevated viewing deck in the shade of a Mahogany tree where you can watch the wildlife of Zambia from above. Go for a swim in the refreshing plunge pool, complete with sun deck, and dine on Chiawa s renowned cuisine on the al-fresco dining verandah. -6-

7 Booking your Wildland Adventure HOW TO RESERVE A TRIP You can book online using our Reserve a Trip form or by calling one of our destination-expert Program Directors at Your space on a trip is confirmed once we receive your reservation form and the initial trip deposit. Deposit requirements are as follows*: $500 per person for all trips in Central America. $700 per person for all trips in South America, the Middle East, Asia, the Mediterranean and North America. 20% of land cost for all trips in Africa. This deposit is generally non-refundable. *Additional deposits may be required for some trips. It may be necessary to adjust prices up or down 30 days before departure to allow for changes in group size, rooming status or currency fluctuations. Full payment of the remaining trip balance is due 90 days prior to departure. Prior to departure, all travelers are required to sign a Release of Liability CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS If you must cancel before departure, money will be returned less the cancellation fees charged by WA Inc. plus any additional nonrefundable cancellation fees and payments already advanced to airlines, hotels and local operators: Days Prior to Departure: Fee* per person 91 or more: $100 (plus initial deposit for Africa trips) days: Initial deposit amount days: 50% of land cost 30 or less: 100% of land cost *Note: Cancellation may result in additional penalties charged by local hotels, operators and airlines, occasionally as much as 100% of the cost. This contains our exclusive Wildland Adventures Destination Handbooks, country map, immunization information, visa and other permit forms, a trip insurance policy, checklist, reading list, travel gear catalog, cross-cultural information and optional trip extensions. You will receive a final trip packet including Final Reminders and local contact information in your destination 2-3 weeks prior to departure.
