2 2 December Cheetah Research Project The Cheetah Research Project from the IZW was established since 2002 and focuses on the world s largest remaining free-ranging cheetah population in Namibia which is considered as the key population for the survival of the species. The aim of Cheetah Research Project is to shed light into the cheetah s biology, ecology and factors affecting the health status in order to provide a scientific basis for the sustainable protection of this population. 3 3 The Kudu Project The first kudu operation is a project in collaboration with the Dordabis Conservancy to know more about the spatial ecology and survival of the Kudu in our study area. Matrix Consulting Services has been appointed by Bethanie Village Council to undertake the necessary environmental assessment for the proposed Township Establishment of Bethanie Extensions A & B as well as Erf 156 & Erf 201 of Bethanie. Bethanie Village Council hereafter often referred to as the proponent is of the intention to undertake the following development activities; Extension A of Bethanie Extension B of Bethanie Erf 156 & Erf 201 of Bethanie The rezoning of land from open space to any other land use, construction and other activities within a catchment area; the construction of public roads; the construction of-oil, water, gas and petrochemical and other bulk supply pipelines, the route determination of roads and design of associated infrastructure are listed activities as per the List of Activities requiring Environmental Clearance (Government Notice 29 of 6 February 2012) and accordingly requires an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) to be conducted. In line with Regulation 21(2) of the mentioned EIA Regulations, a Background Information Document (BID) is distributed to pre -identified Interested and Affected Parties as well as the surrounding property owners as part of the public consultation process for this Environmental Impact Assessment. A Public meeting will also be held in Bethanie to explain the EIA process and the above mentioned project.
