NAMIBIAS NORTH WINDHOEK to WINDHOEK 16 days * 6-8 people * fully accommodated safari Namibia - country of the unrelenting sun and vast open landscapes - will be explored on this special tour.

As a first highlight we explore the Namib desert, with its 300 m high red sand dunes, the oldest and one of the most spectacular deserts in the world.

Finally we visit the famous Etosha National Park, one of the most important wildlife reserves in Africa. We spend time looking for the big game that this park is so well known for.

1 NAMIBIAS NORTH WINDHOEK to WINDHOEK 16 days * 6-8 people * fully accommodated safari Namibia - country of the unrelenting sun and vast open landscapes - will be explored on this special tour. We concentrate on the remote Damara- and Kaokoland in the northwestern part of the country and experience the unique wildlife of Etosha Pan National Park. As a first highlight we explore the Namib desert, with its 300 m high red sand dunes, the oldest and one of the most spectacular deserts in the world. After seeing the desert we make our way up to the north through savanna scenery to reach Kaokoland, one of the most remote regions in Africa. Here we will meet the proud Ovahimba people. Finally we visit the famous Etosha National Park, one of the most important wildlife reserves in Africa. We spend time looking for the big game that this park is so well known for. Here we will be able to observe elephants, lions, black rhinoceros and big herds of antelopes at the water holes. In the afternoon we will take you on a City tour. Day 2: Sesriem An early start takes us via Khomas Hochland and Remhoogte Pass to Sesriem. In this wonderful desert landscape of the Namib/ Naukluft we will visit the 30 m

African Nature Reserves. We arrive in Swakopmund in the afternoon and check into our lodge (2 nights).

BLD Day 3: Sossusvlei We spend one day exploring the Namib Desert, one of the oldest and most spectacular deserts in the world. Hiking to Sossusvlei, a dried out lake only filling up with water every 10 years, is one of the highlights of the tour. The area boasts some of the largest sand dunes in the world and the scenery is unforgettable. BLD Day 4: Namib-Naukluft-Park We carry on northwestward through the Namib/Naukluft Park, one of the biggest of all the African Nature Reserves. We arrive in Swakopmund in the afternoon and check into our lodge (2 nights). BL Day 5: Swakopmund Day excursion into the desert. Here in the dry Namib we will look for the rare and unusual Welwitschia plant, which is adapted to the extreme drought here. Its lifespan is estimated at more than years. Evening dew and morning mist is enough to keep this extraordinary plant alive. BL

Day 6: Cape Cross We make our way up to Cape Cross where we visit the famous Cape Fur Seal colony of about 90.

3 Day 6: Cape Cross We make our way up to Cape Cross where we visit the famous Cape Fur Seal colony of about fur seals. We have the opportunity to experience this bustling colony close up. BLD Day 7: Twyfelfontein and Damaraland In the morning we visit Twyfelfontein to view some of the most unique bushman paintings and engravings in Africa, estimated to be about years old. Other attractions here include the Burnt Mountain and the Petrified Forest, where many fossilized tree trunks are found. In the afternoon we drive to Palmwag. On the way the well-adapted desert elephants are still regularly sighted. BLD Day 8: Palmwag On an early morning game drive or walk we explore the unique landscape and wildlife of the Palmwag area. Kudus, giraffes, mountain zebras and elephants are regularly sighted here and even leopard, cheetah and lion can be seen. BLD

4 Day 9: Sesfontein In the morning we visit Ongongo springs for a refreshing swim. We then drive to Sesfontein in Kaokoveld. BL Day 11: Kaokoveld, Epupa Falls A stony path along the Jouberts Mountains leads to the area where the Ovahimba people live. They have adapted to survive in the barren landscape. The Etosha Pan, a vast shallow depression 130 km by 50 km in extent, is a dried out lake for most of the year, filling from December to April with sometimes up to a meter of muddy, algae-rich water. Here game drives are dictated by the movement of the many different animals like lion, cheetah, leopard, black rhino, elephant and big herds of antelopes. The bird life is also prolific with 326 recorded species. We spend the mornings and afternoons game viewing and bird watching. There will also be the possibility to observe the animals around the floodlit waterholes at night. The hot midday hours can be spent relaxing at the swimming pool.
