1 S/SG/4-WP/18 ITERATIOAL IVIL AVIATIO ORGAIZATIO Fourth Meeting of the APIRG ommunications, avigation and Surveillance Sub-group (Dakar, Senegal, July 2011) Agenda Item 6: Aeronautical Fixed Service (AFS) Review of the status of implementation of the current aeronautical surveillance plan (Presented by the Secretariat) SUMMY This working paper presents the S/SG with the requirements for aeronautical surveillance as contained in the AFI Air avigation Plan, to assess the implementation status in accordance with APIRG Decision 16/26. Action by the meeting is at paragraph 3. ITRODUTIO 1.1. In June 2001, APIRG/13 adopted an initial Aeronautical Surveillance Plan for en-route operations (s), as reflected in the AFI Air avigation Plan (IAO Doc 7474). 2. DISUSSIO 2.1 Appendix to this working paper shows the AFI AP provisions for aeronautical surveillance systems. 2.2 The meeting may wish to recall that APIRG/16 Meeting acknowledged the need to include the status of implementation of the AFI surveillance infrastructure in the review of S system performance; and accordingly its Decision 16/26 which states as follows: DEISIO 16/26: STATUS OF IMPLEMETATIO OF AFI AEROAUTIAL SURVEILLAE PLA FOR E-ROUTE s That the status of implementation of the AFI aeronautical surveillance plan for en-route operations be included in the review of S system performance.

ATIO BY APIRG 3.1 Based on the information provided in Appendix hereto, the meeting is invited to: a) assess the status of implementation of AP requirements for aeronautical surveillance in accordance with APIRG/16 Decision 16/26; and b) discuss amendment proposals to be made to the AP provisions (as necessary) for consideration by the APIRG/18 meeting.
