2 KIDS WELCOME La Residence is committed to the happiness and wellbeing of our younger guests as we are to our adult ones. Whether you are looking for some quality family time, or a quiet moment away from the kids; allow us to assist you in planning a holiday that will be memorable and fulfilling for both children and adults alike. The following list of children s activities can be tailored to your family needs. Please let a member of our team know should you have any special requests. Cots and high chairs are available on request but we encourage you to book in advance to avoid disappointment.

3 FOR ASPIRING CHEFS Learn how to cook from one of our talented Chefs. Bake and decorate cookies or cupcakes, bake your own bread or even make your own pizzas. Pick fruit and vegetables off our farm and learn how we can use them in the kitchen.

4 YOUNG ARTISTS Be inspired by the beauty of the Cape Winelands as you let your imagination run wild. Create your masterpiece with finger paints, water paints, or oil on canvas. Kids can also make their own creations our out of clay and plasticine. Pick flowers from our beautiful gardens and learn how to do your own flower arrangements.

5 PLAY TIME There are numerous fun games and toys to play with, including pool toys, Lego, PlayStation and various board games.

6 STORY TIME Choose your favourite book or fairytale and let us or Mom and Dad read you a story. Child friendly comics are also available.

7 PARENTS NIGHT OUT Let s have fun while Mom and Dad go out. Make your own pizzas and watch your favourite movie with popcorn. Hot chocolate and marshmallows are yummy with a bedtime story. * Babysitting fees may apply.

8 BIKE RIDING Franschhoek is the ideal setting for a leisurely cycle. Explore as a family or let us book you a guide. We can hire bikes on your behalf.

9 HIKING Our In House Activity guide Joshua Juries was born and raised on the La Residence property with deep knowledge of the valley, its geology, flora, fauna, history, and hidden gems. We offer village, vineyard and mountain walks as well as hikes in the Mount Rochelle Nature Reserve. This is highly recommended for older kids, teens and families with a passion for the outdoors. Costs: R40 per person for a permit R750 for a guided tour

10 GOLF The Western Cape is home to some of the most magnificent golf courses in South Africa such as Pearl Valley (Paarl), De Zalze Golf Estate (Stellenbosch), and Erinvale (Somerset West).

11 HORSE RIDING Cape Winelands Horse Riding is situated in the exquisite South African Countryside between Franschhoek and Paarl. They accept groups of up to eight people. The smaller groups allow us to maintain a high quality and personalised riding safari. They accommodate beginners but the recommended level of experience for their riding is intermediate to advanced. Riders of similar experience are generally grouped together. They will also accept single riders. 12 BUTTERFLY WORLD Explore the beautiful indoor tropical garden and walk among some of the world s most exotic butterflies can be found. Butterfly World first opened in 1996 and is the largest free flying park for butterflies in South Africa

13 LE BONHEUR CROCODILE FARM This farm is a registered breeder of the African Nile crocodile. Take a guided tour of the ponds and if you are feeling brave, you can even handle baby crocodiles

16 EAGLE ENCOUNTERS AT SPIER WINE ESTATE Eagle Encounters is responsible for the education, rehabilitation, conservation and ecotourism relating to birds of prey. This is not a zoo and the birds don t live in cages. TOURS ON OFFER (Subject to change) 11h00: Stars in Training Watch in awe as their experienced handlers put their majestic raptors through their paces utilizing ancient falconry practices. 14h00: Falconry Display (Interactive) Spectate and participate as we fly a selection of owls, kites, buzzards, hawks and falcons around and to you. 15h00: Out to lunch with the Secretary Meet our long-legged lady and learn about the keen raptor with a very pretty face. 16h00: Built for the Kill They set the stage and provide the props for their amazing raptors to display their spectacularly distinctive natural talents and speed.

17 VREDENHEIM WILDLIFE & WINERY - STELLENBOSCH Big Cats Park was opened in October The park has been fully approved by Cape Nature and is currently home to 3 brown lions, 2 white lions, 2 caracals, 1 leopard and 2 Bengal tigers. These animals are purchased from approved breeding programs. Open from Mon Sun. Feeding times are at 11h00 and 15h00 and a tour on every hour.

19 FRANSCHHOEK MOTOR MUSEUM The Franschhoek Motor Museum offers a special opportunity to look back at more than 100 years of motoring history with its unique and exciting collection of vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, and memorabilia in the magnificent setting of L Ormarins.
