3 Xian, China Tour Itinerary Day 1, Monday, 04 JUN This morning depart Brisbane flying with China Southern Airlines to Guangzhou. This afternoon upon arrival in China you will be transferred to your hotel for a good night s rest after a long day of travel. Day 2, Tuesday, 05 JUN An early morning start as you are transferred back to the airport for your onward flight to Xian, flying with China Southern Airlines. On arrival into Xian, the first stop on the Silk Road you will begin your day of touring. First stop is the Bell Tower and then on to the Ancient City Wall, which is not only the most complete city wall that has survived in China, but is also one of the largest and most complete ancient military defence systems in the world. This evening after touring it s off to enjoy the Tang Dynasty Singing and Dancing Show before checking in at your hotel later this evening. Day 3, Wednesday, 06 JUN Today after breakfast set out on a full day tour, starting with the Porcelain Terracotta Warriors Factory to see how the locals make these porcelain figures, the same way that their previous generation used to make the Terracotta Warriors and Horses for the Qin Shi Huang s Tomb. Then continue on to visit the Qin Shi Huang Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum*. These warriors were built to accompany the first emperor of China into the afterlife. It is regarded as one of the most significant archaeological discoveries of the 20th century. Later this afternoon you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Dunhuang, a famous passage on the Silk Road as it is considered to be the most wonderful section. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel. * From where the coaches drop off to the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum entrance, there is a 15-minute walk. There are electric carts offered by private vendors, which can be arranged by your local guide at your own additional expense. Please note there are no electric carts available from the museum exit back to the coach pick-up bays. Day 4, Thursday, 07 JUN Today you will visit the Mogao Grottoes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Later this afternoon continue on to the Sounding- Sand Hill, also known as Holy Hill. For those adventurous travellers you can take a camel to the top of the sand dunes (at own expense). Another highlight of today s tour is a visit to Crescent Spring also called Sand Spring. The spring gets its name because it looks like a crescent and is surrounded by Sounding-sand Hill. Day 5, Friday, 08 JUN This morning, you will visit the ruins of Yangguan Pass. Today's Yangguan Pass is not only a historic place for recalling the remote past but also a hometown of grape growing. This is a lovely area to enjoy the vastness of Western China: the history, ancient wall, desert landscape, and snow peaks of the Tien Shan Mountains. After lunch, you will be transferred to Liuyuan to take the bullet train on to Turpan. This evening upon arrival, you will be transferred to dinner at a local restaurant. Day 6, Saturday,09 JUN Turpan boasts Chinas: highest temperatures, sweetest grapes, and lowest rainfall. You will start with a visit to the Ancient Ruins of Jiaohe City, traced back to the later period of the Western Han Dynasty. The city was completely abandoned in the Yuan Dynasty and the city of Jiaohe was left to ruin. Then you will continue to visit the ingenious Karez underground irrigation system that created an oasis in the extraordinarily dry area of Turpan. This system covers 5,000 kilometres in length and it is one of the three greatest projects in ancient China as famous as the Great Wall and the Grand Canal. Breakfast Lunch Dinner

4 Sounding hill, China Uglich, Russia Kizhi, Russia Day 7, Sunday, 10 JUN Today you will visit the Flaming Mountain, which is 100 kilometres long from east to west, and 10 kilometres wide with an average height of 500 metres. This afternoon after lunch you will be transferred on to Urumqi where you will spend the next 2 nights. Day 8, Monday, 11 JUN A coach drive will take you to Heavenly Lake today. The deep-blue Lake is surrounded by majestic mountains and covered with evergreen fir trees, which makes for a fascinating sight. This afternoon, return to Urumqi to visit the Erdaoqiao International Grand Bazaar. It is a magnificent commercial architectural complex embodied with a strong flavour of Islam. The Bazaar furnishes different kinds of goods made in Xinjiang as well as other neighbouring countries, and offers many ethnic foods and souvenirs. This evening enjoy a local Xinjiang specialty banquet before returning to your hotel. Day 9, Tuesday, 12 JUN This morning is at leisure until your transfer to lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch visit Xinjiang Museum. Later this afternoon you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Moscow. This evening upon arrival in Russia you will be met and transferred to embark your 12 Day River Cruise on-board MS Nikolay Cherniskevsky or similar. Day 10, Wednesday, 13 JUN Today is dedicated to exploring the Red Square, Leningradskaya and Tverskaya Streets, Novodevichiy Convent (exterior), KGB (exterior), GUM and the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour (exterior). This afternoon is very special, as you will go inside the Kremlin - the ancient castle built to withstand the Mongol hordes. The Kremlin is a living museum of Russia's history and this historical treasure has been so well preserved that it seems that you are travelling back in time. Day 11, Thursday, 14 JUN Enjoy your morning at leisure today. There are several optional tours available for you to explore more of Moscow (additional cost). Lunch will be served on-board as you sail to Uglich, a small town located on the Volga River. Tonight enjoy a cocktail party ahead of your Welcome Dinner followed by a concert on-board. Day 12, Friday, 15 JUN Uglich is most famous for the events that took place in 1591, when the 10-yearold Prince Dimitry, the last heir to the throne of the ancient Ruyrik Dynasty was killed. This afternoon there will be a walking tour taking in the Kremlin Territory, Dimitry on the Blood Church and Transfiguration Cathedral. Tonight after dinner on-board enjoy the folk music concert. Day 13, Saturday, 16 JUN By today's standards Yaroslavl is small, but its place in Russia's history and culture cannot be underestimated. Before it was annihilated by the Mongols it was Russia's largest city. Yaroslavl was rebuilt shortly after but was once again burnt to the ground. While the Mongols had been preoccupied with Yaroslavl, Moscow was able to harness enough power to overthrow the 'Mongol yoke.' You will explore this town on the Volga River by bus with stops at Nikolas Wonderworker, Governor's Art Gallery, and the church of the Prophet Elijah. You will also have free time to explore the local market before returning to the ship. Day 14, Sunday, 17 JUN Goritsy is famous for the Kirillo- Belozersky Monastery (1397). This monastery's strong walls and bastions were used by some nobles as a safe house during the Time of Trouble. The Polish Armies stormed it, but never succeeded capturing it. Unfortunately, the monastery was not successful in repelling the attacks of other invaders four centuries later. The Bolsheviks closed the monastery in the early 20th century and sent its monks to the prison camps. In the centre of the island stands the amazing Transfiguration Church. Today you will visit the open-air museum of wooden architecture. This afternoon you will set sail for Mandrogui. Dinner this evening will be served on-board with entertainment on offer in the lounge. Day 16, Tuesday, 19 JUN Mandrogi is the name of a small village where among the beautiful landscapes of this peaceful place you will have a BBQ picnic lunch ashore. You will also have free time to explore the town before returning to the ship. Day 17, Wednesday, 20 JUN Wake up this morning in St. Petersburg, Russia's cultural and historical treasure and one of the world's most beautiful cities. It is known as the Venice of the north, thanks to its numerous canals and hundreds of bridges. It can rightly be called a living museum - so many of its buildings are a part of Russia's history. Today enjoy a city tour and visit the Hermitage Museum - the largest collection of Russian art in the world. Day 18, Thursday, 21 JUN This morning after breakfast depart on a walking tour of St Peter and St Paul's Fortress. This afternoon return to the ship for dinner and evening entertainment on-board. Day 19, Friday, 22 JUN Today is at leisure to explore St Petersburg. Day 20, Saturday, 23 JUN This morning after breakfast you will disembark the ship and be transferred to the airport for your flight to Moscow. 6 FAQ's Why is the tour Fitness Level rated as Moderate The tour involves a reasonable amount of walking, especially climbing steps and stairs. This means you sometimes need to walk from the bus or ship docking to the entrance, and/or need to climb some steps inside. People with knee or hip injuries, or who are otherwise unable to complete these activities independently should consider the suitability of this itinerary carefully. Parts of the itinerary may involve very long days of travel and this combined with the local infrastructure may prove challenging at times. In order to get the most from this tour it is important to have a good level of fitness. Please ensure you are aware of the specifics required to participate in tour as outlined on the second page of this brochure. What is the standard of the hotels in China? Your accommodation is selected for convenience of location, comfort or character. Hotels are generally rated as local four-star standard, but please note that there is no international classification system for hotels and differences in facilities and quality do exist between Australia and China. All group tour hotels have private western bathroom facilities, air conditioning, TV and telephone. Plumbing and electricity supplies can be erratic and quite often the power in hotel rooms is turned off while guests are out of the room. Rest assure that all hotels used by Seniors Holiday Travel Team are regularly inspected by our ground operator to ensure that standards meet your needs. Please note that bedding in China can be considered harder than what you may be used to in Australia. What is the standard of the ship in Russia? Your itinerary states you will be sailing on MS Nikolay Cherniskevsky or a similar ship. We say similar as this itinerary is subject to change based on an influx of tourism due to the Soccer World Cup being held in Russia in Therefore we may be required to move the group to an alternative ship of the same standard. MS Nikolay Cherniskevsky is a 4 star ship that will be newly refurbished for the 2018 sailing season. It has a passenger capacity of 218 and all cabins are outside with large scenic windows, equipped with private facilities, air-conditioning, wardrobes, refrigerators and 220 volt sockets. Please be aware that bedding on-board Russian River Cruise ships are twin beds. If you are a solo traveller, paying the single supplement this will be is for a single cabin on-board the ship which is smaller in size. 7 Are touring days long? Main and inner city roads in China & Russia have a reputation for being very congested. For this reason, it is not usually possible to return to your hotel after sightseeing before going to the restaurant for dinner. What kind of food can I expect in China? Though Chinese cuisine can vary greatly from Chinese food we get in Australia, it is important to keep an open mind and be adventurous. Breakfast will be served at your hotel in the morning before you depart for your daily tour which will be a Western Style buffet, with some mornings consisting of a Chinese style breakfast or a combination of both. Any lunch which is included in your itinerary will be served usually post morning tour or before departing for your arrival city/town that night. It will be traditional Chinese often reflecting the flavours of the region you are currently visiting. Various dishes will be served on a Lazy Susan for the whole table to share. Your evening meals that have been included can vary between your hotel or a local restaurant in the area. Again most meals will be traditional Chinese. What kind of food can I expect in Russia? Your Russian River Cruise includeds full meals on board, consisting of 3 main meals as indicated in your itinerary. Breakfast and Lunch served on-board are buffet style. Table water in pitchers is provided during breakfast & lunch, as well as tea and coffee. Dinner on-board is served according to the menu and is 3 courses. There is a coffee-station on-board the ship available for you from 06:00 till breakfast, from 10:00 till 12:00, from 16:00 till 18:00 and from 21:00 till 23:00. The coffee station includes coffee, decaf, hot water, milk, cocoa, packed tea, sugar, sweetener, and cookies. Do I need a Visa? Entry visas are required by all visitors to China & Russia, which Seniors Holiday Travel Team can assist you obtaining. We will supply you with all paperwork and submit the visa application on your behalf. Visa application forms and all relevant documentation are due in our office 75 days prior to departure; if received after this date urgent visa processing fees will apply. The China Double Entry visa costs are approximately $140 per person and the Russia costs are approximately $155 per person plus a $90 processing fee. Please note that visa costs are subject to change and confirmed pricing will be advised closer to the final payment date. Please be advised that your passport must have at least 6 months validity left on it when you arrive back into Australia. Do I need Travel Insurance? Travel insurance is highly recommended and should be taken out to cover unforeseen circumstances such as cancellation of your trip due to a medical situation, loss of luggage while travelling and any medical or hospital emergencies. If you require medical or hospital treatment while travelling in a foreign country many hospitals and medical facilities will require you to pay for this treatment upfront. This means you could have to pay out a substantial amount of money before you are able to put in a claim to your insurance company. Therefore, please ensure that you travel with a credit card and that it has a sufficient limit to cover any upfront costs should this be required as medical and hospital charges can be very expensive. Please do not hesitate to call our office for a quote or to send you a travel insurance brochure and the costing. Do I need vaccinations for this journey? There are no specific heath requirements for travel to China & Russia, however certain vaccinations are recommended. Seniors Holiday Travel Team recommends that you consult your physician or travel doctor prior to departure to discuss your personal health requirements. When will I receive my final travel documents? A detailed itinerary and final documents will be sent to you approximately two weeks prior to the tour s departure. What is the climate like during this tour? Three provinces and several cities are covered in the Silk Road tour. Conditions along the Silk Road vary from a typical continental climate around Xian to a desert climate as you travel westward. Average daily variation is about 12 degrees temperature and in certain desert areas it may vary up to a maximum of 36 degrees in one day between noon and midnight. Travelling in Russia during the month of June is very pleasant. Typical high temperatures are around 23 C, with a low of 12 C. Although it is summer you should always be prepared for light showers during the month of June in Russia.

8 If I travel alone, do I have to pay the single supplement? If you do not want to share a hotel room with another person in the group, you will have to pay the single supplement. However, if you are willing to share we can assist in finding a fellow travel companion of the same gender to save on the single supplement. However, this cannot be guaranteed and if we are unable to find a suitable travelling companion and you still wish to travel, then you will be required to pay the additional single supplement with your final payment. Seniors Holiday Travel Team accepts no responsibility for the suitability or unsuitability of the twin share companion. To avoid discrimination, we are unable to disclose details of twin share passengers until deposit is received. A lot of companies have many expensive optional extras on their tours. Do you? We don't believe in a lot of expensive optional tours'. Our itineraries are designed to make the best possible use of time and to include all the must-see sights, plus additional surprises. Therefore practically everything is included in the tour cost. While on the Russia Waterways River Cruise there are optional tours available. These optional tours are unable to be confirmed prior to departure by the shipping company, therefore will only be offered on-board and it is at your own discretion to participate. You will book and pay for them on-board. Are there internet and WiFi facilities en-route? Most of the hotels we use have internet and Wi-Fi facilities, though not all. While on-board your River Cruise limited Wi-Fi access is available when sailing between ports. Do I need to tip? Tipping does have a culture in China & Russia however for a hassle free journey all tips and gratuities are included in the tour cost for drivers, local guides and porters.

10 Seniors Holiday Travel Team Terms of Trade and Schedule of Fees PRICES Schedules and availability, fare conditions and prices can change at any time. Price changes may occur for reason or matters outside our control which increase the cost of the products or service. Such factors include adverse currency fluctuations, fuel surcharges, taxes and airfare increases. DEPOSITS Seniors Holiday Travel Team requires a booking deposit which is charged per person and deducted from your final balance. The deposit is nonrefundable if you should cancel. i. 1st deposit for this tour is $ per person and is due within 7 days of booking. ii. Final payment is due 100 days prior to departure. PAYMENTS All prices are based on payment by cash, direct deposit or cheque. A credit card surcharge of 2% for Visa and Mastercard and 3% for American Express Card applies if you elect to use them for payment. If you opt to make a direct deposit into our nominated bank account it may take at least 24 hours to be processed into our account. CANCELLATIONS, REFUNDS & AMENDMENTS Any cancellations of the Tour will result in the following cancellation fees: -101 days or more prior to departure, loss of deposit plus the cost of the airline ticket if issued. - Less than 101 days prior to departure, 100% of the tour package price. Cancellation must be made in writing for your reservation to be cancelled. HEALTH & FITNESS/ACTIVITY LEVEL You must ensure that you are aware of any health requirements for your travel and that you are able to participate in the activities included in your itinerary. If you are unsure about your fitness to travel, please check with your GP or specialist clinic. Payment of deposit to Seniors Holiday Travel Team acts as a warranty that the traveller is reasonably healthy and/or fit to participate in the tour. Seniors Holiday Travel Team reserves the right to remove a traveller from a tour at the traveller's own expense, if their health/ fitness interferes with the tour or other travellers tour experience in any way. We do not, nor are we required to, provide carers or assistants for those with reduced mobility or other health needs. In particular, tour guides, coach drivers, and your fellow passengers will not act as assistants or carers in these circumstances. TRAVEL INSURANCE Travel Insurance is required for all travellers. Seniors Holiday Travel Team can assist with your travel insurance needs. Please ensure you take note of the special inclusions and exclusions as they may relate to your particular circumstances. Pre-existing Medical conditions and cover for these are approved or rejected by the Insurer. If you have taken out another Travel Insurance Policy or believe you have adequate cover from a credit card policy we will require a photocopy and details of the insurance cover that you hold. Please note that if you have insurance from another source and subsequently require our assistance in processing an insurance claim, this will incur a fee of at least $220. TRAVEL DOCUMENTATION Travel documents include (without limitation) airline tickets, hotel vouchers, tour vouchers or any other documentation used to confirm an arrangement with a service provider. Travel documents may be subject to certain conditions and/or restrictions including being non-refundable, non-changeable and subject to cancellation and/or amendment fees. These documents cannot be transferred to another person to use. All airline tickets must be issued in the name of the passport/photo id holder. An incorrect name on a booking may result in an inability to use that booking and it may be cancelled. Any errors in names, dates and timings on your documentation will be your responsibility if not advised at time of booking. As a general rule, your travel documents are issued by the service providers two weeks prior to departure. For any amendments after final payment a fee of $55 per document plus supplier fees will be charged. THIRD PARTY SUPPLIERS Our tour itinerary is a guide only and although we will make every reasonable effort to adhere to the programme, we reserve the right to make any alterations as necessary. Alterations may come about due to weather conditions, strikes, public holidays, local festivals, renovations and/or upgrades or other reasons. Any additional expense incurred by the passenger is not our responsibility. Your travel arrangements are subject to the booking conditions of each travel provider you are using. Seniors Holiday Travel Team is responsible for advising upon travel arrangements and making the bookings. Seniors Holiday Travel Team is not responsible for cancellations of tours, loss or damage directly or indirectly caused by the airline or suppliers and other transport delays or reschedules, or insolvency, loss or damage to person, property delays, accidents, acts of war and force majeure impacting upon your travel arrangements. Seniors Holiday Travel Team acts as the wholesaler and at times only as an agent, depending on the product. Airfares included in your package holiday are provided in economy class.
