1 Second Government Shutdown Impacts USAG Italy USAG Italy press release VICENZA, Italy (Feb. 9, 2018) A lapse in appropriations before the Feb. 8 deadline has forced portions of the government to close for a second time, including some services provided by the garrison and its installations at Vicenza and Camp Darby. Only operations and activities essential to life, health and safety as well as the protection of our national security are exempted from shutting down. This means that some garrison services may be limited, reduced or closed. The post office, commissary, all AAFES facilities, childcare services, the health clinics, fitness centers, dining facilities (DFACs), shuttle services and the DoDEA elementary, middle and high schools will remain operating during normal hours. If uncertain whether a garrison service is shutdown, always call ahead prior. Use the phone book at: Here is a list of garrison services affected by the shutdown.
