Introduction The first register of mobile mast locations was published in October 2007, following discussions between the mobile operators and the Environment Department on issues associated with the development of the Bailiwick s mobile networks. It was agreed that a full list of antennae locations used by Guernsey s three mobile operators should be made publicly available and that the register should be updated and published as significant changes are made to the number of sites utilised by the mobile operators. The Environment Department and the mobile operators requested the OUR s assistance in establishing the register and ensuring that it is publicly available through the OUR s website. The OUR is pleased to be able to continue assisting the parties on this issue. When the last register was published in June 2008, there were 70 sites across the Bailiwick. During the past 12 months, all three operators have added, or applied for planning consent to add more sites to the number previously reported or to share established sites with other operators, while some sites have been recovered. This updated register takes account of these developments. The sites listed in this report reflect those which are currently operational and also those for which planning consent has been given (although the site may not actually be constructed yet). The site register reflects the sites utilised by the three licensed mobile phone operators C&W Guernsey, Wave Telecom and Airtel Vodafone. The information is current as of 1 June 2009 and the information contained within this report has been provided by the mobile operators. It is intended that the information contained in this mast register will be updated again in The information provided by the mobile operators show that there are 71 mobile antennae sites in the Bailiwick. These are broken down by island as follows: Island Number of Sites Guernsey 60 Alderney 5 Sark 5 Herm 1 It should be noted that where we refer to antennae sites this is used to describe all sites utilised by mobile phone companies regardless of type. The sites used vary considerably and include roof-top locations, indoor and outdoor wall mounted antenna, more traditional lattice tower structures and monopoles. Following on from the OUR s audit of emissions from all mast sites in April 2008, a further 15 sites were audited in The results of this audit are published separately. Information relating to every site tested will be published on the OUR s website and the States Digimap website and copies of individual site reports will be available to interested parties.
