European funding CP Board Get to know your Director This month we welcome Sheila Winstone who represents the Trossachs. Sheila joined our Board in 2014 bringing with her a wealth of skills and a wide range of heritage and community experience. Sheila is the Town Coordinator for Callander, a part-time role to assist the community in delivering the tasks of the Community Action Plan and Charrette, while supporting the communication and networking of local groups. Sheila as also one of the key faces for the very colourful and successful annual 'Callanderfest' a community-led festival celebrating local talent and involving lots of volunteers. What's the latest news for communities? European funding and the implications of Brexit has been on everyone's mind over the last month and we received this news via Social Firms Scotland this week. The message is that programmes in the planning remain unchanged and hope to open for business very soon. Here's what Structural Funds Division are saying: "The European Union brings clear benefits to Scotland, including access to European Structural Funds. As the First Minister has made clear, the Scottish Government will now explore all options to secure Scotland's place in the European Union so that these benefits can be preserved. The European Structural Fund will clearly be a key part of those negotiations." Page 2 of 7

Scotland has used EU Funding to facilitate economic development over many years. Scotland has also built good relationships through transnational funds with other regions of Europe.

3 To find out more about our Directors click on the link CP Board Members Scottish Government has legally committed European funds to projects up until the end of 2018 The projects being funded support important economic, employment and social priorities. Until it is clear how negotiations with the EU are to progress these important projects should continue. Scotland has used EU Funding to facilitate economic development over many years. Scotland has also built good relationships through transnational funds with other regions of Europe. We hope to continue those relationships with our European partners. This is welcome news and we expect a further communication from Scottish Government shortly on when the ESF social economy funding will open for applications. The Gruffalo goes wild in Tyndrum Community project open day! Struggling for ideas to keep the kids amused before they go back to school?... Then why not head down to the Tyndrum Community Shelterbelt Forest Classroom and Gruffalo Trail Open Day this Sunday 14th August from 10am to 4pm. Build up the courage to find the Gruffalo and his Friends in the woods or try your hand at spoon carving or making a dream catcher (booking advisable for these workshops). For details about this event or to book a place on a workshop contact the organiser Kelly by Training, funding & grants! Community Partnership members have FREE access to training and resources which empower them to take positive local action. There are also a wide range of training and resources available through other agencies operating in the park area. Here are just some of them: A grant incentive is available by Energy Saving Trust to support communities thinking about installing electric vehicle charge points across Scotland. The Community Partnership has been keeping everyone informed about what is happening with the first issue of a community newsletter. Residents and businesses will be invited to a further Community Mapping Workshop event in September which will give a taster of the initial results from the recent online Map Me survey. 'Inspiring people, places, projects & partnerships' is the theme for our photography competition launched to celebrate the 'Year of Innovation, Architecture & Design'. The Community Partnership is looking for your photos of something you find inspiring in Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park area. They could illustrate one of the following; People Places Projects Partnerships Prizes will be awarded to two categories: under 16 & over 16 years of age. More details to follow...
