Boats: Two moorings in bay. Small boats can be beached at two small beaches. boat Western Reef can be accessed by a short, steep foot trail that originates from a public 2WD road. Eastern Reef may be accessed on land by foot trail or 4x4 ATV from Lameshur 1.5 miles1/2 of that can be made by4wd vehicle.. Min. Staging: Although congested, Coral Harbor is a good staging area. boat/vehicle Volunteer assistance from boating community and local 501c3-coral bay Community council Min. Boom Length FT): 4000 Boom Type: Booming Method: Protection/Exclusion Deploy 2,000 ft. of exclusion boom across Coral harbor from Penn Pt. to Harbor Pt., and 2,000 ft. of exclusion boom across Hurricane Hole to protect mangroves. Deploy 5,000 ft. of exclusion boom along mangroves on east side of the harbor. Conduct containment booming and open water recovery before oil enters bays. Consider using offshore dispersants, and the pre-application of a wetting agent on the mangroves. Please recognize that Eagle Shore- 5 feet deep is a high risk for site. Charts are inaccurate. Hurricane hole: most pristine mangrove/ juvenile fish nursery habitat remaining in USVI. Many corals on mangrove prop roots.

Boom Length FT): 2500 Boom Type: Booming Method: Deflection If you are unable to boom across the bay's narrow entrance, deploy 2,500 ft. of cascading boom down either side of the creek and divert the oil towards the sandy beach on the creek's western side.

A natural collection point is on the west end of Trunk, at Jumbie but it is difficult to get to due to the steep shore, and shallow reef with narrow channel.

Private property is at the western side of Maho Beach. Maho Beach is a high recreational area. Whistling Cay has seabirds, coral reefs, and archeological sites. A boom can be extended from Mary Point to Whistling Cay to divert oil from Francis and other north shore beaches. Prevailing winds are offshore from Francis and Maho beaches so surface currents would tend to carry oil away from these beaches.
