Galapagos Journey In the world of adventure travel, no destination has more allure than the Galapagos Islands. Six hundred miles west of the Ecuadorian coast, the Galapagos Islands have never been linked to other land masses by bridges of land or ice. The Pacific waters surrounding the archipelago drop off rapidly to a depth of two miles. Protected by distance and geography, the Galapagos ecosystem has flourished through the eons, much of its animal and plant life found nowhere else on Earth.

2 Coral II The Coral II yacht is a ship constructed of teakwood and modern decorations to give its guests an extraordinary tour in the Galapagos. Built for 20 passengers, the yacht provides a surprising amount of privacy and chance for relaxation. It boasts expansive observation decks for viewing the surrounding Galapagos, fully stocked bars, picturesque windows, comfortable lounges, dining rooms and meeting areas with TV and dvd. AM: Charles Darwin St./ Tortoise Breeding Center The Darwin Research Station is home to tortoises ranging from 3-inches (new hatchlings) to 4-feet long. Sub-species of tortoises interact with one another and many of the older tortoises are accustomed to humans, stretching out their heads for a photo opportunity. The babies are kept until they are about four years old and strong enough to survive on their own. The Fausto Llerena Tortoise Center, a long-term program run jointly by the Galapagos National Park Directorate and the Charles Darwin Foundation, began in 1965 to save the giant tortoise population on Pinzón. At the Tortoise Center, visitors can observe a variety of tortoises, including hatchlings, juveniles, and full-grown individuals. 4 October 1 AM Dragon Hill / Santa Cruz Island Dragon Hill is one of the few visitor sites directly related to a conservation program of the Charles Darwin Foundation and the Galapagos National Park. The visitor site was opened in 1993 to provide an additional chance for observing land iguanas. The landing site at the rocky shore is a wonderful place for snorkeling. Highlights: Heading inland on the trail, visitors pass two small salt-water lagoons where it is sometimes possible to see flamingos and other shore birds. The trail continues on and circles Dragon Hill where visitors can observe land iguanas and their many burrows on the hillside Possible Activities:* Hiking, guided walk Type of Landing: Dry Landing Difficulty: Moderate PM Bartholomew Island Home of the famous Pinnacle Rock, Bartholomew consists of an extinct volcano with a variety of red, orange, black and even green volcanic formations. A trail of stairs leads to the summit of the volcano, boasting one of the best views of the islands. The beach is perfect for snorkeling and possible sightings of the Galapagos penguin. Highlights: Pinnacle Rock, panoramic view, moonlike landscape, penguins, pioneer plants, lava cactus; snorkeling, reef sharks, rays, and great colorful fish. Activities: Dinghy ride, snorkeling & hiking (1.25 mi/ 2km) Type of Landing: Dry and wet landings Overnight Carol II All meals included

5 October 2 AM Rabida Island Rabida Island (Jervis) is one of the most colorful and volcanically varied islands in the archipelago and a great snorkeling site. Its famous maroon sandy beach and stunning lookouts provide wonderful landscapes. The island is a birdwatcher s delight. Some of the rarest species are in abundance, such as nine varieties of finches, large-billed flycatchers, Galapagos hawks and brown pelicans. Highlights: Snorkeling: white-cheeked pintail ducks, colorful fish, sea lions, brackish water lagoon, penguins, Galapagos hawk Activities: Snorkeling, dinghy ride & short hike (0.6 mi /1 km) Type of Landing: Wet landing PM Buccaneer Cove or Espumilla Beach Buccaneer Cove is a testament to the fact that Santiago Island was once a refuge for British Buccaneers. These pirates would anchor in the protected bay to make repairs and stock up on tortoise meat among other things. The steep cliffs, where hundreds of seabirds perch in front of the dark red sand beach. Highlights: Sea birds, historical site, snorkeling, rock formations Possible Activities:* Short walk along the beach (less than 0.6 mi/1 km) Type of Landing: Wet Landing Espumilla Beach ( Santiago Island) Espumilla Beach is a popular place for marine iguanas and Sally Lightfoot crabs. The crabs attract the hunting herons, performing the dance of predator and prey. With an abundance of marine life including octopi, moray eels, and sharks, snorkeling is highly recommended. 6 October 3 AM Black Turtle Cove - Santa Cruz Island Black Turtle Cove is situated in the northern part of Santa Cruz. This inlet is surrounded by mangroves and is only accessible by dinghy. The shallow cove is a safe haven for young marine life. Black-tip and white-tip reef sharks, sea turtles, and a variety of rays are often spotted here. Highlights: Hammerhead shark babies, rays, sea turtles, sea birds Possible Activities:* Dinghy ride Type of Landing: No Landing PM Transfer to the Baltra Airport; flight to Quito and transfer to your hotel.
