We cannot accept preferences on which room you would like to stay in. Students will be notified of their room allocation upon arrival. The rooms are single occupancy rooms. Living in the dorm is a pre-condition towards acceptance to the MGU Exchange Program. Arrangement of private accommodation, unless under extraordinary circumstances which do not allow for the student to live in the dorm, is not allowed. Mailing Address Student Name MISH # (room number) Totsuka-cho, Totsuka-ku, Yokohama-shi, Kanagawa-ken , JAPAN *Please do not ship your luggage/belongings to the dorm prior to your arrival. Room Rent Incoming students are requested to pay rent on a per semester basis, prior to the start of each semester. Payment for the initial semester should be made via international bank transfer according to the details provided on the invoice sent out along with the Letter of Acceptance. The amount to be paid varies according to the duration of the student s studies at MGU. This rent is non-refundable unless under extraordinary circumstances such as sickness to the student or the student s family member which require him/her to return to his/her home country. All incoming students must also pay a dorm deposit fee of 25,000 along with their rent, to be returned in cash at the end of their studies. Please note that this deposit applies to all students regardless of their status at MGU (this includes Fee-paying students and JASSO Scholarship students).
7 Costs incurred for cleaning/repairs stemming from negligent use (those above normal wear and tear ) will be subtracted from the deposit. The student is also responsible for all costs which exceed this deposit amount. Payment is required upon all students regardless of their status (fee-paying or those exempt from having to pay dorm fees). Gas, water, electricity and Internet access fees are included in the rent. However, should management monitor excessive use, the student may be requested to settle excessive fees at his/her own cost. Rent for students staying for ONE SEMESTER ONLY: 240,000 for March 29, 2017 to August 1, 2017 (Due date: March 23, 2017) Dormitory Furnishing & Appliances The University provides basic furnishing, including bed linen, in the dormitories. Each room also comes equipped with an air-conditioner, internet access point, a shower, a bathroom and a kitchen. Laundry facilities are located on the 1st floor for common use. Students are responsible for cleaning and upkeep of their individual and common spaces. Banking and Money Apart from MISH rent and deposit amount listed above, students should bring a minimum of 50,000 in cash or traveler s check to survive the initial settling-in period. During orientations, International Center will provide assistance in opening bank account of Sumitomo Mitsui Bank. People who have an American nationality are required to inform their social security number when opening bank account. Please get the information prior to arrival. In japan, it is common to use personal seal (called Inkan or Hanko ) instead of signature. Please prepare your Personal Seal before this orientation. It may take up to a week for wired funds to reach a students Japanese bank account. Students and their guardians should note that a handling fee will be charged to all wire transfers. Most convenience stores such as 7-Eleven or Lawson have international ATM machines in them because this is uncommon in America and the students will be looking for banks. Mobile Phones Students are recommended to open a mobile phone account upon arrival. As with the bank accounts, exchange students can arrange a mobile phone/wi-fi router/sim Card during the orientation. Please refer to the details in the enclosed document. Exchange students can contract other plans on their own. Arrangement of monthly payment and account cancellation prior to departure remains to be the sole responsibility of the students. The University holds no right or responsibility to settle unattended issues regarding mobile phones on behalf of the student.
