5 Fine Dining The award winning 55 cover restaurant comprises three interconnecting areas; the main restaurant, private dining/meeting room and a lounge/bar, with polished oak floors, exposed beams and original brickwork. 8 The Business Our Client acquired the Marquis in 2007 and has invested considerable time and monies developing the property and business. This included creating five en-suite bedrooms and a full refurbishment of the restaurant and public areas. The business was re-launched in 2008 as a contemporary fine dining restaurant and boutique hotel. A further extension was undertaken in 2011 adding an additional 5 bedrooms increasing the total to 10. The restaurant customer base is varied and is derived from a mix of local residents from Alkham and the surrounding area, combined with the more affluent clientele from Dover, Folkestone, Ashford, Deal and Canterbury.The hotel guests are derived from business travellers, tourists, including channel hoppers (English and Continental), cruise passengers and general visitors to the area and is strongly supported by Visit Kent who are extremely active in promoting Kent tourism. In addition to the restaurant and bedroom business, the Marquis also accommodates weddings and private parties, typically per year. Exclusive use can be offered for such functions. This is an area of business that could be greatly expanded.
