1 Practical information Currency The krone (DKK) is the official currency of Denmark. Some of the larger shops, hotels and restaurants may accept Euros as payment. However, this is not the norm. Credit cards such as VISA and Mastercard are generally accepted by shops and the city center has several ATMs. Weather The weather in Denmark can be quite unpredictable in June, changing abruptly from sunny to rain. It can be a bit windy. The temperature is rarely below 13 C (55 F) or above 25 C (76 F). Food: Lunch, water, coffee and tea during the workshop and dinner Thursday are included. Depending which hotel you choose, breakfast will typically be included (but consult the hotels homepage). Otherwise, breakfast will typically be around 100 DKK ( 14) at a café or restaurant. For dinner Thursday, we will go out to a local restaurant. If you have any special dietary needs or restrictions, please let us know. Flights Direct flights to Aalborg can be reached from the following European airports: OSL CPH STN AMS Copenhagen CPH (Denmark): SAS and Norwegiean operated route, around 1 hour flight time. Multiple daily flights. London, Stansted STN (United Kingdom): Ryan Air operated route, around 2 hours flight time. Flight on Tuesday June 18 th

2 Amsterdam Schiphol AMS (Netherlands): KLM operated route, around 1.5 hour flight time. Multiple daily flights. Oslo OSL (Norway): SAS operated route, around 1 hour flight time. One daily flight. For those travelling from Aalborg to the 16 th IWA world Conference on Anaerobic Digestion, June 2019 in Delft, The Netherlands: we recommend a flight to Amsterdam Schiphol. From there you can get to Delft by train (~40 minutes) or bus (~1 hour), depending on your arrival time in Amsterdam. Transportation in Aalborg Taxies Taxies are usually available in the airport. Taxies can be booked by calling phone number , or installing the app DanTaxi 4x48 or Moove. Typical fees from airport to city center or from city center to the venue is DKK ( 33-40). All taxies take credit card. If you use the Moove app, you can pay for the trip via the app, and will not have to use credit cards. Public transport Public transportation from the city center to the university typically takes around minutes. The price for travel from the city center to the university is 22 DKK ( 2.95). Busses 2, 5 and 12 stops within 2-3 minutes walk of the workshop venue. Busses in Aalborg typically have screens that displays the name of the next stop. To get to the correct stop, please observe the following: Bus 2: get off at bus stop AAU Damstræde Bus 5: get off at bus stop AAU Damstræde Bus 12: get off at bus stop Niels Jernes Vej.

3 Address: Fredrik Bajers Vej 7H, Auditorium (ground level) The busses accept only cash, and only Danish currency (the price of one-way ticket from the city center is 22 DKK). Therefore, the easiest way to pay for bus fare will probably to purchase a ticket online There is also an app called NT Tickets for the same purpose, it should be available in English via App Store, however for Google Play users it may be only in Danish. Accommodations Aalborg has a diversity of accommodations from youth hostels to hotels, in varying price ranges.

4 Suggestions: CABINN Aalborg hotel: 2 hotel with 239 rooms. The hotel is situated in Aalborg s city centre with a view of the waterfront, which can be enjoyed from the hotel s breakfast café. The hotel is closely situated to all the amenities of downtown Aalborg (including bars, restaurants, shops, cultural institutions and public transportation).
