1 Dear Master LIVE Students, LIVE 2017 Integration Week Pre-Arrival Letter With the LIVE Integration Week 2017 starting on Sunday 3 th September 2017, we look forward to welcoming you in Lyon. The following details may assist with your arrival. 1. CISL (HOUSING) & UCBL (UNIVERSITY) LOCATION, TRAMWAY T4 Accommodation (Night of Sept 3, 4, 5 and ) have been reserved for all the Master LIVE students at the CISL: Centre International de Séjour de Lyon (CISL): Address: 103 Boulevard des États-Unis, Lyon Phone: Website : *** On Sept 4 and 6, part of the programme will be realized at one of the main UCBL campus called La Doua : Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 (UCBL) Campus La Doua Building / Bâtiment Grignard 4, rue Victor Grignard, Villeurbanne *** The tramway T4 is a direct transportation between CISL and UCBL in #30 min and through the train station Lyon Part-Dieu (stop Gare Part-Dieu-Villette ): - From CISL to UCBL: Take the tramway T4, direction "La Doua Gaston Berger", get off at "Université Lyon 1". - From UCBL to CISL: Take the tramway T4, direction "Hôpital Feyzin-Vénissieux", get off at "Professeur Beauvisage - CISL" T4 Tramway stops (red stars) at UCBL, Lyon Part-Dieu train station and CISL: 1

GETTING TO YOUR HOUSING AT CISL *** From the Lyon Saint Exupéry airport (LYS) to CISL Map route from LYS to CISL with Taxi in blue: Lyon Saint Exupéry (LYS) Airport is #25 kilometres from the CISL. - You can find Master LIVE students on September 5 in the airport to join the CISL together by taxi (#50 to share between the number of passengers) that directly drives you to the CISL address. You will find in Annex 3 the table of the student schedule and s to organize yourself your sharing, according to your wishes. - Alternatively, you can take alone the tramway (private company) called "Rhônexpress" to reach the Lyon Part-Dieu train station in the city centre. The cost depends on your age (cheaper for youngers), if you buy through internet (cheaper than at the airport) and if you buy a single ticket or a return ticket (13.20 to 27,50 ). Information (tickets, schedules, stations) available in English on this website: Departure every 15 min to 30 min, from 5.00 am to midnight, and runs every day including bank Holiday. Then you follow the next paragraph from the train station Lyon Part-Dieu to CISL. *** From the train station Lyon Part-Dieu to CISL In front of the train station "Lyon Part-Dieu" or the Rhônexpress tramway station Lyon Part- Dieu, you find the road "Rue de la Villette" with the stop Gare Part-Dieu Villette of the tramway T4 (public transportation). 3

4 Map Lyon Part-Dieu train/tramway stations You must buy a TCL (Lyon public transportation) ticket to take the Tramway T4 to CISL. TCL ticket for everyone is 1.80 for one way or 5.60 for unlimited traveling for one day. Read screen in English at the automatic machine that sells tickets at tramway stop. - From Lyon Part-Dieu train station to CISL: Take the tramway T4, direction "Hôpital Feyzin- Vénissieux", get off at "Professeur Beauvisage - CISL" in front of CISL. You can ask your route for public transportation on the TCL website available in English: Annex 1: general information Annex 2: map of metro-tramway-funiculaire Annex 3: table of the student schedule and s to organize yourself your sharing, according to your wishes 3. CHECKING AT CISL (HOUSING) Housing in Lyon is paid by the programme LIVE for the integration week (4 nights: Sept 3 to 7, 2017). The list of people and schedule of arrival in Lyon have been given to CISL that is awaiting you at any time on Sept 3. Shared or Single rooms are with shower, sink and wc: Single beds in all rooms (90 x 200 cm.). Bed linen and blankets are provided. Rooms are cleaned every morning. YOUR UNLIMITED TCL (PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION) TICKET FOR Sept On Sept 4 morning, the LIVE Assistant (Mrs Claire Douet, LIVE Assistant) will give you at CISL the TCL TICKET PASS to travel throughout the TCL network (bus, tram, metro, funicular) on Sept 4-5-6: the number of trips during the day is unlimited. Just validate this title every time you step into a transport. For administrative regulation, it is required that you give back your TICKET PASS after use to the LIVE Assistant. 5. PROGRAMME OF THE LIVE INTEGRATION WEEK 2016 Sept 3: Arrival in Lyon at various hours. The students join their housing at CISL. Sept 4 am: in Lyon city centre o 8h45 not at 8h15 at CISL: the LIVE Assistant will give you TCL TICKET PASS and the group will reach with the LIVE Assistant the Métro Vieux-Lyon for a Discovery walk in Lyon guided in English with the Office of Tourism of Lyon. It will take approximately 3 hours. We will start by: The Basilica Fourvière which is on the top of a hill. From there you will see the all city Vieux-Lyon, we ll walk through the oldest part of Lyon starting by the St-Jean Cathedral and we will discover some of the hidden narrow passages called Traboules Place des Terreaux, one of the main square, with the famous Bartholdi Fountain. Next by there is the beautiful city hall and the Opera Then we will see the Place des Jacobins and the Celestin Theatre To end up at the main square of Lyon Place Bellecour Bring your camera! 6 Free lunch in typical restaurants of the road Rue des Marronniers (red star below) near place Bellecour, where you also find cheap fast-food if you prefer to go to Quai du Rhône to eat outside. Delprat, LIVE Coordinator) with the Local Coordinators of Semester 1 from Barcelona universities-spain (Prof. Paz Martinez), semester 2 from Antwerp University- Belgium (Prof. Peter Delputte) and semester 3 from Saint-Etienne University- France (Prof. Stéphane Paul), reading / questioning and then signing the text of the Student Agreement. o 15:45-16:00 break o 16:00-18:00 training to UCBL digital tools (Sesame, , Claroline Connect Claco, Eduroam) Sept 4 dinner Free dinner at CISL or in the city centre (public transportation operates daily from 5am to midnight) or barbecue party in garden 1 km walking from the CISL... let s decide together or by subgroups before leaving Grignard. 8 Sept 5 am: BIOASTER, Microbiology Technology Institute site visit IMPORTANT BIOASTER SECURITY Security procedure requires that BIOASTER checks original passport for your entrance. 8h15 at CISL: the LIVE Assistant will give you TCL TICKET PASS and the group will reach BIOASTER (40 Avenue Tony Garnier, Lyon) with the LIVE Assistant. Welcome at BIOASTER, the only health-related Technology Research Institute (TRI) in France selected by the Commissariat Général à l Investissement as part of its Investment Program for the Future. BIOASTER was established as a Foundation for Scientific Cooperation based on a unique public/private partnership model. Sept 5 lunch: 12:30-13:30 Picnic at «Parc de Gerland» Sept 5 pm: LIVE Master cooking class / first cooking book by La Galerie Créative at Vaugneray o Departure at 13:30 by bus from BIOASTER Arrival at 14:30 La Galerie Créative, 9 place du Marché, Vaugneray Map route from BIOASTER to Vaugneray: 8

9 o «LIVE Master cooking book»: each student provides one recipe from his/her country, in English and participates in scrapbooking to build a personalized but common cooking book, a basis to really cook in the next two years together! o «LIVE Master first cooking class»: students cook part of their lunch under the direction of Chief Annie Chaboud, now retired and fond of cooking animation but previously researcher in molecular biology. o Departure at 18:30 by bus from Galerie Creative 9 place du Marché, Vaugneray Arrival at 19:30 CISL, 103 boulevard des Etats-Unis, Lyon o Free dinner at CISL or in the city centre (public transportation operates daily from 5 am to midnight) or crêpes & your first-cooking-gougères party in garden 1 km walking from the CISL... let s decide together or by subgroups in the bus. 9

10 Sept 6, 08:00-17:00 at UCBL Campus La Doua Building/Bâtiment «GRIGNARD», room H-I 7:20 at CISL: the LIVE Assistant will give you TCL TICKET PASS and the group will take the tramway T4, direction "La Doua Gaston Berger", get off at "Université Lyon 1" to join Grignard at 08:00. o All students: Official bank account opening Welcome to bank account and credit card (S. Lamoille, Director of Crédit Mutuel Bank) to officially open your French bank account that will welcome your scholarship payment and be trained to the bank digital service and answer your questions. o Half-group: guided to building / bâtiment Mendel by LIVE Coordinator (Prof. C. Delprat LIVE) to reach the secretariat of UCBL-Biology department for UCBL official registration with Chrystell Benkadour & Andreia Fernandes. o Half-group activities (Prof. Peter Delputte & Prof. Stéphane Paul): Online registration to Antwerp University, Semester 2 & 3 presentation. o All students (Prof. Stéphane Paul): choice of promotion name o Free lunch at the UCBL campus IMPORTANT UNIVERSITY REGULATIONS Regulations require the UCBL university to check original items with original stamp and signature (and English translation if required) for Bachelor diploma (or certificate given waiting for the real Diploma), Bachelor transcripts and passport, the same you have uploaded in your MyLIVE application used for your selection or provided to the LIVE secretariat. 11 Annex 1: General information Passport, Visas Those from countries within the European Union are recommended to travel with a valid ID. In addition, depending on individuals citizenship, a visa may be required. Please make a copy of your passport and visa. Insurance The organizers do not accept responsibility for individual medical, travel and personal insurance, participants are strongly advised to take out their own insurance policies. LIVE students are covered by MARSH insurance, paid by the programme LIVE. Please bring with you a copy of your insurance. Shopping Stores are generally open from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm. Stores in shopping malls are open until 8.00 pm. Lyon s restaurants and bars For several centuries Lyon has been known as the French capital of gastronomy, due, in part, to the presence of many of France's finest chefs in the city and its surroundings (e.g. Paul Bocuse). This reputation also comes from the fact that two of France's best known winegrowing regions are located near Lyon: the Beaujolais to the North, and the Côtes du Rhône to the South. Beaujolais wine is very popular in Lyon and remains the most common table wine served with local dishes. Lyon is the home of very typical and traditional restaurants: the bouchons. Bouchons are usually convivial restaurants serving local dishes and local wines. You can find most of these restaurants in the Marroniers and Mercière streets and in the old town.
