BANE RANDJELOVIC Governor Newsletter No Photo of the month: RYLA Camp in Niš, August 11-14, 2017
From thw Governor I don t know about you, but this summer period has been unexpectedly turbulent and exciting for me due to the fact that our clubs are active during the summer, and along with the socializing, they are also pursuing interesting projects. I missed out on a very interesting conference on sustainable development and the Rotary Ideas Fair organized by RC Stari Bečej. However, I managed to visit 6 clubs, to take part in rafting on the Tara River organized by RC Pljevlja, and together with the Pljevlja locals, to open a beautiful Children s Motorcycle Skills Polygon, as well as allocating bedding in Zaječar for the children s department of the Health Center, awarding the best 8th grader in Šabac, and in Sremska Mitrovica, donating a computer to a school for children with special needs. Also, together with the Rotarians, I met several leading people of local self-governments in Serbia and I was convinced that there is mutual respect and good cooperation with the Rotary movement. The perfect icing on the cake during this period was a phenomenal event in my own city of Niš - an interdistrict RYLA seminar. The Rotary camp for future young leaders, organized together with Clubs from D2241, D2482 and D2484, was connected to the informal network CFC (Culture - Friendship - Cooperation), all in the presence of RI Director Corneliu Dincǎ. So, clubs from 4 districts, currently located in two separate Rotary zones, worked together for the benefit of our young generations. Have all these activities started the work of our future new Zone 21? It seems so to me... From the Editor August is the month dedicated to the development of Rotary membership. Each club member, with their experience and knowledge, make the meetings more interesting and enhance club activities. Our Rotary community is stronger as there are more diverse professions. It is our wish to create a District Directory this year, which is to include the contact details of our club members, as well as information on their professions and workplaces. We believe that the Directory will help with the design and implementation of common projects and ideas, and that we will get to know each other and socialize better. The stronger our relationships are and the better our mutual understanding, the more we will be able to accomplish for the benefit of the local community. On the other hand, we want to be familiar with all of our clubs. Therefore, soon we will send a questionnaire to all of you in order to collect information about the activities and history of each club. Think about all the important projects which helped promote the local community, about all the important moments in your club history, about the prominent Rotarians who are your members, etc. On that occasion, we will ask you to present your plans for the future, in order to see what we are striving towards as a totality, so as to help each other more straightforwardly. Let us also not forget the global grants we are currently developing, which deserve support. DG Bane Ranđelović ADG Nikola Božić, editor

RC Stari Bečej: Conference On New Models of Cooperation for Sustainable Development RC Stari Bečej, in cooperation with the Media Education Center and the Municipality of Bečej, organized the On New Models of Cooperation for Sustainable Development Conference on July 26, The whole-day event took place in three parts. The promotion of the Tandem Bike Project, created by Bojan Biga with the support of RC Stari Bečej and the Technical School, was attended by guests from abroad, from Italy, Greece and Turkey headed by Petar Peco Gorgievski from Australia, General Manager of Global Shipment, Director General of the Global Foundation dialogue and executive coordinator of Unity In Diversity, as well as Bojana Perović in front of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Miomir Rajčević, Director of the Media Education Center. Rotarian members, Rotaractors, the creator of the tandem bicycle Bojan Biga, twin brothers Nemanja and Nikola, and kayak world champion Marko Novaković were also present, as well as journalists and TV reporters. The conference was launched in the municipality of Bečej by Sandra Popov, assistant for investment and development to the municipality president. The presentation and creation of the UinD network initiated by RC Stari Bečej were attended by representatives of the public, private and nongovernmental sectors: the National Museum, the City Theater, the Tourist Organization, the National Library, a member of the Municipal Council for National Minorities, the NGO Lidernet, local sustainable development leaders, the Youth Sports Center, Linde Gas, Knott Autoflex YUG, RC Stari Bečej, Miomir Rajčević in front of the Media Educational Center and Peter Peco Gorgievski, director of UinD Australia. The Rotary Fair of Ideas The Role of Rotary in Promoting Social, Economic and Environmental Responsibility gathered members of RC Alma Mons, RC Novi Sad, RC Senta, RC Kula, RC Šabac, RC Subotica, RC Zemun, RC Novi Sad-Danube, RC Belgrade-Sava, RC Kikinda, RTC Zrenjanin, RTC Belgrade- Singidunum, and RTC Belgrade-Danube. Addressing the audience on behalf of District Governor Bane Ranđelović, as the official representative, were Ljiljana Zumbulović DGN for 2019/20, Srđan Barac DRR for 2017/18, Peter Peco Gorgievski, Executive Coordinator of Unity In Diversity Global, as well as Miomir Rajčević, Director of the Media Educational Center. This Fair of Ideas was very fruitful, as representatives of Rotary and Rotaract Clubs presented their projects for Rotary 2017/2018 and their role in the promotion of social, economic and ecological accountability. We heard and saw extremely creative ideas, as well as the possibility of cooperation, implementation and inclusion in the projects of Rotary Clubs and RTC.
RYLA Rotary Youth Leadership Award in Niš The RYLA CFC camp for young future leaders of the Balkans was held in Niš on August 11-13, The hosts were RC/RTC/ITC Niš-Konstantin Veliki, and the entire event is the result of the cooperation of the clubs from our District and three neighboring Districts (RC/RTC/ITC Craiova D2241, RC/RTC/ITC Blagoevgrad-Centrum D2482 and RC/RTC/ITC Thessaloniki-Anatolia D2484). Forty participants from 14 clubs, 7 lecturers, 20 Rotarians and friends spent 3 days in Niš. In addition to lectures and training workshops on the development of leadership potential, the participants were guests of the stunning STATUS Winery from Malče near Niš, as well as visiting the phenomenal Nišville Jazz Festival. Interact and Rotaract granted a special contribution to this event in addition to the presence of DG Bane Ranđelović and DRFCC Darko Mitić, as well as RI Director Corneliu Dincǎ, DG Emiliano Sopoiana (District 2241, Romania & Moldavia), DGE Vladimir Matić (D2483), DGE Thorazis Aspasidis (D2484 Northern Greece), and the president of our District Committees for RYLA. RYLA camp was also attended by Gabriel Vladut (RC Craiova) and Giorgis Eleftheriadis (RC Thess-Anatolia), founders of the CFC network of Balkan clubs from different districts and diverse Rotary zones but the same Balkan area, which proved to be the true forerunner of the future Rotary Zone 21.
The sixth Rotary regatta - Sailing Up and Down the Sava to the Drina River The sixth Rotary Regatta took place this year from July 8 to 21, at which 13 ships with 38 crew members took part, and another hundred of those supporting the regatta from the mainland. The following clubs took part in the race: Belgrade, Belgrade-Danube, Belgrade-Čukarica, Šabac and Sremska Mitrovica, as well as RC Bijeljina from D1910. The length of the total route was 180 kilometers upstream and downstream, which took about 40 hours of navigation. The regatta was of an international character as the sailing took place through Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina, via the Sava River, from Belgrade, through Zabran, Boljevci, Provo, Šabac, Hrtkovci, Sremska Mitrovica, all the way to the mouth of the Drina River - Bosanska Rača. Weather conditions were exceptionally favorable for sailing, which additionally affected the good mood. The great challenge was the low water level and shallows near Šabac, which was overcome thanks to experienced captains. The result of this regatta, like the previous ones, was to confirm the old friendships and create new ones, but above all to assure affirmation of Rotary as an organization that connects people and cities.
Let s spin the wheel: Presenting the project RC Pljevlja: The Children s Motorcycle Skills Polygon With its donation of a Children s Motorcycle Skills Polygon to the town, RC Pljevlja once again pointed out the true values of general and social interest. The realization of this project emphasized the importance of proper growth and development of children by improving physical readiness, acquiring skills and a fighting spirit, developing a competitive spirit and healthy growth in a peer environment beyond the reach of technological achievements. On July 28, 2017, the children in Pljevlja Municipality became one of the first users of this type of polygon in Montenegro, with an official opening of the playground. The guests were greeted by the President of RC Pljevlja, Ljubiša Ćurčić, and the Governor of the Rotary District of Serbia and Montenegro, 2483, Branislav Ranđelović. With the intention of spreading peace, good will and understanding among people, along with the message a healthy mind in a healthy body, it was pointed out that this is only one of the segments of RC Pljevlja with the desire and aim of having as many such events as possible.
