BANE RANDJELOVIC Governor Newsletter No Photo of the month: A donation of 1,000,000 dinars was collected during the National Rotary Day celebration and presented to the Young Philharmonic Orchestra.
A word from the Governor My dears, The previous period was marked by several very important activities for our District. We celebrated National Rotary Day in Serbia on the occasion of the RI anniversary on February 23, also changing the venue. The National Theater in Belgrade was too small to receive all the interested Rotarians - over 500 guests. The sum of 1,000,000 dinars was collected and donated to the Young Philharmonic Orchestra Borislav Pašćan - which I think is a gesture for us all to be proud of. On this occasion, the positive and successful media promotion of our organization on national TV, the PINK TV station, was very important for me personally. Our representative was ADG Nikola Božić. We held an extraordinary District Assembly on February 24, adopting the final account and accepting the supplementary budget revision. And, more importantly, the clubs demonstrated unity (decisions made almost unanimously, with only one vote against), as well as huge support and trust to the current governor. We chose the Governor for our very own Danilo Ljevnajić from RC Sremska Mitrovica, who won the majority of our club votes. We wish him success in the next two years and a successful mandate, as we all feel joy and satisfaction due to this. Danilo has the wisdom and strength for gubernatorial duties all that is left is for him to gather splendor around him - and thus we will have a successful year. Also, other candidates should be congratulated on a fair and proper struggle for the trust of our clubs, as well as on the results achieved. The Rotary exhibition - Ideal of Service, continues touring the District, with which we are trying to unlock our Rotary secrets to the residents in the local self-governments. The exhibition in February was in Senta. Let s all make a difference together - MAKING A DIFFERENCE. Yours in Rotary, DG Bane Ranđelović From the Editor Awaiting us is the part of the Rotary Year when the activities of the current governor and his team and the newly appointed governor begin to overlap. A seminar for the future team of the District will be held soon, and after that, a seminar for newly appointed presidents and secretaries. This period of the year reveals the most beautiful aspect of Rotary: continuity. With yearly alterations, continuity is what guarantees the quality development of an organization. Because of this, DTTS and PETS events are those that, on one hand, bring new energy and new people, and on the other, connect with the activities of the current team and governor, and thus make the link between us even stronger. The last quarter of a Rotary Year shows another important thing that Rotary takes into account. This involves instructing Rotarians about Rotary, about projects, about the goals of the given organization, etc. In the next few months, in addition to the seminars already mentioned, there will also be seminars on the Rotary Foundation, Public Image, etc. It is important that our clubs are involved in these educational programs as much as possible. These seminars are open to all other Rotarians, so it is suggested that those members who may not currently have a function in a club or district and who have the desire and the will to do so, take part in them. Informed club members make our clubs strong, as in that case we can distribute activities within the clubs to more members, and achieve good projects in the local community, optimal cooperation with other clubs, a public reputation of our clubs, a greater interest of individuals to join us, etc. Rotary has long recognized that education is important not only as one of the goals of action, but also for the internal development of an organization. ADG Nikola Božić, editor

District: National Rotary Day 113 years of servicing and socializing National Rotary Day was marked at the National Theater in Belgrade on Friday, February 23, Some 113 years have passed since the founding of the Rotary Worldwide Organization. As always, this event was a humanitarian one so the funds raised in the amount of 1,000,000 dinars were donated to the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra Borislav Pašćan. A record number of Rotarians and friends of Rotary gathered on this occasion - around 530. This ceremonial event involved successful Rotarians and Rotary clubs winning international prizes - Paul Harris pins and Presidential Citations.

District: International activities Presidential Peacebuilding Conference in Lebanon One of the six Presidential Peacebuilding Conferences of Rotary International was held this year in Beirut, Lebanon. This conference was dedicated to one of the six focus activities of Rotary - Drinking Water. There were discussions about the misuse of watercourses and lakes in international relations and the potential problem of using water as a weapon of war. An important topic was climate change and its impact on the problem of the availability of potable water. The conference was opened by RI President Ian H.S. Riseley and the President of Lebanon. This conference was an opportunity for our representatives, DG Bane Randjelović and ADG Nikola Božić, to concur on international cooperation on global grants.
District: the Association s Extraordinary Assembly On Saturday, February 24, the Extraordinary Assembly of the Rotary Club Association was held with the aim of adopting the Final Account for the calendar year 2017 according to the regulations of the Republic of Serbia, and adopting the rebalance of the budget of the current governor until the end of this Rotary year. Some 49 clubs (presidents or authorized representatives) attended the Assembly. The final account for 2017 was adopted by a large majority with 47 votes in favor, 1 against and 1 abstention. The budget revision proposed by the governor was also adopted by a large majority with 48 votes in favor and 1 against.
District: the elections are finished The District Governor Nominee Designate elected On March 15, 2018, the Election review committee composed of Miodrag Zečević, Saša Andrijašević and Nikola Božić reviewed in a public session the voting materials received from our District clubs. In the envisaged procedure, Danilo Ljevnaić won the confidence of the largest number of clubs. Danilo Ljevnaić was chosen as the District Governor Nominee Designee for the 2020/21 Rotary year by the BallotByMail procedure. Congratulations to Danilo for the election, as well as to all the candidates for a peaceful, evenhanded and fair election, during which there were no objections. By joining RC Sremska Mitrovica, Danilo Ljevnaić brought a new approach to the development of club activities in the local environment. After a short time spent in the club, which is considered one of the good standing clubs in our District, he began to give full contribution its work. His personal commitment has contributed to the fact that activities such as setting up a memorial milestone in the center of Sremska Mitrovica on the occasion of the 1300 anniversary of the Milan Edict, or the renovation of the Culture Center in the village of Jamena after catastrophic floods, were the pride of the entire club, as well as the local environment. As a promoter of the inclusion of young, educated and capable people in the Rotary movement, Danilo became the founder of Rotaract club Sremska Mitrovica in Today, this Rotaract club with 16 young members is quite successful, to the pride of RC Sremska Mitrovica. Danilo is also the founder of Interact Club Sremska Mitrovica, which was chartered in He is a promoter of Rotary at the local level, whereby, with his personal contribution, he has increased the visibility of the club in the community, both through public appearances and social networks (the Facebook page of RC Sremska Mitrovica has over 3,200 followers). At the national level, he has established excellent cooperation of RC Sremska Mitrovica with all the District clubs, and the number of visits to other clubs is a kind of record. He is a Paul Harris Fellow. Danilo Ljevnaić has been professionally engaged as an entrepreneur from an early age. Today he owns three private companies that employ about 130 workers. All companies have recorded good business results for over a longer period of time. This is a kind of recognition of his organizational abilities. Due to his business success, Danilo has received a high award from the Serbian Chamber of Commerce. The vision and strategy for the development of the Rotary Movement in Serbia proposed by Danilo Ljevnaić is based on the belief that Rotary clubs in Serbia are an inexhaustible source of great people and women and potential that is not always fully used. When considering the development prospects of Rotary, he distinguishes the following areas in which he sees the possibility of work improvement: cooperation within the RC of our District, cooperation with Rotary clubs in the region, improving cooperation within Rotary International, and a better positioning in the Rotary Foundation. Within our District, Danilo is planning to deal with the following topics: increasing the number of RC members; increasing the number of women in the RC; increasing the number of Rotary clubs; improving mutual cooperation between Rotary clubs through the realization of joint projects that can be the basis of better mutual knowledge and cooperation; a focus on admission of members aged 30 to 40, without limiting, of course, the admission of all those who, with their work and character, deserve to proudly bear the Rotary pin which would contribute to improving the age structure of clubs in the long run; the focus on the formation of Rotaract clubs and a careful selection of young people as a secure base for receiving certified and Rotary-oriented young individuals; plans to define a narrow field of activity through dialogue of the RCs in Serbia, where the overall effect would be greater, and the recognition of Rotarian activities in the public more significant; plans to continuously work on the public recognition of Rotary and breaking down the prejudices and misconceptions about Rotary, above all by a greater presence in the media; proposing as many actions as possible that include over half the number of RCs in Serbia, taking into account the financial possibilities of the clubs; and a focus on forming Interact clubs because Interact is the pride of all clubs and pledges for our bright future.
RC Podgorica: Humanitarian concert 20 years of Rotary in Montenegro Rotary Club Podgorica organized the KIC POP CHOIR humanitarian concert on the Big Scene of KIC Budo Tomović, marking the 113 th anniversary of Rotarianism in the world and the 20 th anniversary of the foundation of the first Rotary Club in Montenegro. The donations collected on this occasion are directed toward the Resource Center for Children and Youth Podgorica for equipping special accommodation for children and parents, who come from other cities of Montenegro for treatments in the early intervention program. Most people value fairness, and believe they also possess it. But there is a significant difference between knowing the path and walking along that path. This path is not easy, but members of the Rotary community are expected to have the courage and determination to appreciate the principles we believe in. By sharing our knowledge, we can improve the lives of people around us. The Rotary Club is made up of a group of professionals from different areas, who are gathered around the same goal. When such people with great hearts and open minds offer to serve the community, the acceptance of Rotary in society becomes ever deeper. The question is, can we begin an accelerated process of renewing enthusiasm according to ethical standards in society and Rotary itself? I believe that our club is on this path and that we are ready to deal with all the challenges of the times, said Podgorica RC president Milena Durutović.
The Rotaract World: Five decades of existence In the second week of March in the city squares throughout Serbia, young Rotaract club members celebrated the jubilee 50 th anniversary of its successful work by releasing sky lanterns into the night sky. With releasing lighted lanterns from central city locations, we want to draw public attention to this important jubilee, but also to contribute to another humane goal. Half the price of every lantern will be donated to the Rotary Foundation, and the funds raised will be used for another of the many humanitarian drives. At least for a moment, we will fill the sky with some new constellations and climb unprecedented heights as the imminent and only frontier, DRR Srđan Barac said. According to tradition, the lanterns mark the vanishing disappearance of a problem, as well as the desire for an enemy army to leave during a war, and the release of the sky lights symbolizes world peace, understanding, happiness and unification, which is also this year s slogan of Rotaract in District Rotaract is a part of a large Rotary community, and District 2483 currently has close to 350 Rotaracts, deployed in 25 clubs in 13 cities. The video of the 50 th anniversary celebration of Rotaract can be seen on the following link:
Prospective clubs Initiative for forming the Belgrade Avala group There is an initiative in our District for forming a new group - Belgrade-Avala. During the six months since Rotary fans have begun to gather, this group has held 10 regular meetings. The Initiative group, gathered around Prof. Snežana Nena Šantić, PhD, Vladan Pajević, B.Eng., Predrag Bojčić, BEc, Dr Aleksandar Brkić and Dragan Pajević, engineer, has launched a series of humanitarian drives. In October, there was a drive to help women with children in a shelter. Along with clothes and some food (flour, sugar, oil, cured meat, and sweets for children) also provided were school equipment, backpacks, toys and PE equipment for five children. During the month of November, future members of the Belgrade-Avala Club held a drive to help the Shelter for Elderly and Homeless people in Kumodraška Street, providing clothes, blankets, pillows and some canned food. On New Year s Eve, humanitarian aid was handed over to the Children and Youth Home in Krfska Street, Zvezdara, donating clothes, some accessories and supplies for hygiene, as well as toys, basketball and soccer balls, juices and sweets, cakes and pastries, and books for children aged The humanitarian campaign held on March 1-2 was aimed at low-income pensioners and children, and thus, towels, toys, books for abandoned children in Zvečanska Street, as well as shelters for the homeless were donated. We obtained 5 PCs and laptops for the gymnasium in Kragujevac together with the Rotary Club from that city. The pending charter president Prof. Nena Šantić, PhD, donated a personal contribution of 60,000 dinars, together with another 3 members of the Rotary Club Kralj Petar Prvi, whereupon 240,000 dinars were collected for the oncology department of Niš hospital and the purchase of the equipment needed for children suffering from this serious illness.
RC Senta: An exhibition about Rotary On February 22, the Ideal of service exhibition on the Rotary Movement was opened in Senta. Following the opening of the exhibition at the regular charter meeting, E-club President Nikola Božić held a lecture on the topic Rotary and New Technologies. The opening of the exhibition and the meeting were very popular and were attended by members of RC Palić, RC Subotica, RC Kikinda, RC Kula, RC Stari Bečej, RC Sremska Mitrovica, RC Belgrade-Stari grad, RC Šabac, RC Niš-Konstantin Veliki and RC Vranje. The event was also attended by DG Bane Randjelović. The ideal of service RC Belgrade-Kalemegdan: A fashion show Women for women The charity fashion show Women for Women was held on March 9 in Hotel Majestic, organized by RC Belgrade Kalemegdan. The creations of the Afrodite Mode Collection fashion house were worn by Rotarian women from 7 Rotary clubs, members of Inner wheel Singidunum and Belgrade, and female members of the Rotaract Clubs Čukarica, Belgrade Center, Danube. This was an evening full of positive energy conveyed by the models (from ages 20-70) and all those present. The proceeds from the fashion show will be donated to Vesna, a woman who has been with Rotary for more than 20 years and who is now ill and unemployed, without any means for living and treatment, and forgotten by many, but not by Rotary.
