Dr. Božič teaches insect biology, comparative endocrinology, and beekeeping courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. He has studied honey bees' foraging, dance signals, and social grooming behavior, bees' actions to resist varroa mite infestation, swarming, the ecotypes of Carniolan bees, hive technology, and the processing and automation of honey extraction. An avid beekeeper, Dr. Božič personally maintains 50 Slovenian hives at his village home near the Julian Alps. 3 BEE TABLE The wooden bee table is great for putting in packages, put the queen in and open the package box, set it on the table and the girls will walk right in! Also very good for when working in the hive, the bees will fall on the table and go back in instead of falling on the floor and you stepping on them. $34 WOODEN POLLEN TRAP Pollen Trap, Wooden. Fits on front of the AZ Hive. Price $90 HIVE FRAME STAND Hive Frame Stand, holds 12 frames and is very handy when you want to remove all your frames for cleaning or extracting. Price $50 THREE HOLE BOTTLE FEEDER 3 Hole Bottle Feeder, slides under bottom back screen door. Bee space underneath and comes with 2 plugs for the openings you are not using. Price $10

4 Pollen Trap, Plastic. Fits onto the front of the AZ hive. Price $40 IMP VARROA SCREEN IMP Varroa Screen. Inserts under lower deep or can even be placed between them if you take out the queen excluder. Works great and you do not disturb the bees! Useful if you have a weak hive and want to limit the entrance to one bee at a time. Price $2

5 YELLOW TABS Yellow Tabs. Use on AZ frames to put into Langstoth hives to have the bees build on so you can transition them into your AZ Hive, very handy. You will need 2 per frame. The tabs do not go to the ends so you need to add a ¼ shim to each side. Price.65 cents each HIVE TOOL This hive tool is used to clean the bottom of the AZ hive. Take out the bottom board under the bottom deep and scrape out the debris or clean from the front. PRICE $22 SMOKE STICKS Smoke Sticks. I love these! Very easy to use and they stay smoking til the end! With the AZ Hive you do not need much smoke as it stays contained within the hive so these are perfect. 6 BACK SCREEN Back Screen Window. Each AZ Hive comes with two windows, one with a feeder and one without. When using the 3 bottle feeder you will need to reverse the two back windows to make room for the bottles in order to close the back door. You may want an extra window to use when cleaning the feeder window or you may not want the feeder window on top deep. Price $21 BACK SCREEN WITH FEEDER These screen feeders are in the back of the hive, the hives come with one. You may want an extra if you take one out to clean or you want to feed your bees in the upper and the lower deep. PRICE $24 FRAME SPACER FOR THOSE WHO BUY A HIVE ONLY Frame Spacer. Very useful when fitting the back windows in as it spaces them the same way the window is set. You will need to attach it to a wood handle for easier use as they bend easily. 7 Check out below and see the difference between a Langstroth frame and an AZ frame. You can use Langstroth foundations in the AZ frame but you need to cut the length and there will be about an inch on top or on bottom that is empty. The bees will take care of this. LANGSTROTH VS AZ FRAME Top is a Langstroth frame Bottom an AZ frame Here the Langstroth foundations have been cut in length to fit the AZ frame but with an inch open on top. When done, take off the funnel and shake the bees back in or place on the bee table and they will go back into the hive.
